Replaces the lid support for your Yakima cargo box.Exactly what I needed for my early model SkyBox 21. OEM part. Delivered quickly.
Perfect replacement for the original supports. Only complaints are 1) for the front support, it’s a pain to get to the bottom screw. But it’s like 1 minute of pain. And 2) it takes forever to get these because EVERYONE who owns a Yakima box with the old supports needs these. Come on Yakima, make them a warranty recall!
That said, these are perfect replacements. The wait time is due to production, not etrailer. Customer support at etrailer was amazing. Thanks guys!
This replaced the original front support in my Yakima SkyBox 16 Carbonite, which had deformed due to summer heat. Installation difficulty was perhaps a 2 out of 10; the old support came out with the removal of 2 screws, and I used the same screws to install this replacement. The only difficulty was working while my head, arms and shoulders were inside the open Skybox.
Christian - 05/22/2022Much more solid than the original supports I had. Difficult to install using the mallet method, since the cargo box absorbs most of the energy of the mallet hit. I suggest you use a 3/8 drill bit to manually scrape off a bit of plastic from the holes if you have any trouble installing these.
I did receive my order recently, however it took many many months " supply chain issues"you know.
etrailer did keep me informed and promptly answered all my inquiries.
I do realize that these things are out of their control ,they did their best under unusual circumstances.
I also enjoy teasing them when the said it would be sent in October, I replied which year?

This was the perfect replacement lid support for my 2003-2009 Yakima rocketbox. The lid support works so well that I wish I had just ordered two! Thanks so much Erik.
Devin - 06/28/2022Very simple to replace and works well when installed. Only drawback was that they took nearly a year to come in because of supply chain issues. Kudos to etrailer for keeping me apprised of the order status over the course of the almost year I had to wait for them.

I’m not a fan of Surepost.If you state shipping will be UPS then stick to UPS. The transfer from UPS to USPS adds days to the delivery
This replacement lid support for my Yakima Skybox works great! Much better than the original "accordian" style support, in fact. It was pretty easy to remove the old, busted supports and install these new ones. Now the box pops right open, from either side, and stays wide open. Easy fix that has given my Skybox new life!
etrailer was very transparent that delivery would be delayed, and they came through in the end.
Easy to install and works very well with my Yakima Skybox. I wasn't sure it would open both sides given the design but I was mistaken, the new hinge works just as the original!
There is nothing wrong with my 15 year old skybox but after thousands of openings and closings the lid supports were not doing the job as well as they used to. I love that I can get replacement parts to essentially have a new box by replacing the guts without throwing away a perfectly good skybox. The pandemic caused a rush on Yakima parts with even Yakima support telling me to go to etrailer because Yakima restocks it’s resellers before it’s own inventory. Throughout the wait I received plenty of communication and was sent pieces of my rebuild as they came in. Great service and perfect replacement part.

They upgraded my shipping at no cost so I got the parts quicker ( lid supports for Yakima skybox 16 ). Parts came with everything I needed including instructions, installed easily and work great.
Thomas - 02/17/2021Easy replacement for both front and rear on the Rocketbox 12 I have. When I open the box now it springs open versus me prying it open with the old style. Excellent replacement and no idea why Yakima designed the original scissor style. What a difference!

I am not sure what Yakima was thinking with the original design but this upgrade is a must. Easy install and dramatic improvement to my cargo box
Worked great and easy to install. A much different part than was originally on the box, but they seemed to work just fine. etrailer was the only ones who could get them to me in a timely fashion as they were backordered. I believe there was a part update at Yakima due to the poor performance of the last hinge and these were tough to get a hold of.
Perfect replacement (in fact better!) for my yakima skybox. The original arm was much weaker.
Easy to install. I installed it on my Yakima skybox 16. Works better than the originjal part.
This was not a perfect fit for my older cargo box, and was a challenge to install, but has worked great since installation.

perfect fix for my Yakima rack, thought it would be difficult to replace or would never find the correct part. This part worked perfectly and a great replacement arm for the Yakima rack.
