Communication was excellent, the product arrived very quickly and is much better that the original. I suspect that the original Yakima part was not the correct one.

Part fit great! Only problem was that the threads on the nut were marred , found a different nut and replaced it works good now. Would have 5 stars otherwise.

It fixed my problem and I got it faster than I expected. The item was on back order and the estimated delivery was October 2022 and surprisingly I got it in the mail the same week I ordered it.

You will want part # 8880766 , which includes the brass nut for the Yakima FrontLoader bike rack made after 2016. This includes the brass nut that secures the knob to the bike rack. If you have one made prior to 2016, you'll want part # 8880226 instead.

Is it possible your FrontLoader was built after 2016 which would mean you'd need the knob part # 8880766 which has a different nut in it and would explain why the older knob # 8880266 isn't threading correctly.

It does sound like you may have overtightened or there is something wrong with the threading on your knob on your Yakima Frontloader. Replacing the knob should solve your problem. If you have Yakima FrontLoader bike rack made after 2016 you will need # 8880766. If your Yakima FrontLoader bike rack was made prior to 2016 you will want # 8880226 instead. If the cap is not the issue then the mechanism is having the problem. Assuming that you're installing it right.

There are a few ways to tell if you have a pre-2016 or post-2016 Yakima FrontLoader Wheel Mount Bike Carrier part # Y02103. The best way to tell is to look for the date code sticker which is usually located near the front wheel holder.
