Is this right for you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:

Yes, if you:

  • Are adding an AC as a backup for extra cooling power or as a new feature in a trailer that didn't have it before
  • Boondock frequently and use a generator that might struggle to start up the AC without a capacitor
  • Often stay in really hot or humid places and need something to keep up with the heat

No, if you:

  • Sometimes get chilly and need a little heat to stay out on the road longer into the season
  • Have a hard time reaching to the ceiling to change settings
  • Only have a 30 amp service RV and want to use this as a 2nd unit - you might be better off with less power
Ductless AC unit lets you replace an existing AC or add a new AC to your RV. Air distribution box has a built-in thermostat to control the fan and temperature. Start capacitor jumpstarts the AC when camp power or generator power isn't enough. Great Prices for the best rv air conditioners from Advent Air. This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year Warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Etrailer was very easy to deal with. Prompt responses to queries..email updates on shipping and delivery. Delivered ahead of schedule. But box was damaged. Unit had damage to exterior. They promply provided us with resolution options. Would definitely deal with etrailer in the future.

by:

etrailer shipping was prompt, we received exactly what we ordered. The Advent AC was as expected, a plug and play unit. Out of all the other work we've done on our 2000 trailer, installing this unit was one of the easiest. The unit works great, at times its too cold. And its def quieter than our 2000 unit. Overall I recommend it and easy to DIY.

by:

An excellent replacement unit for an aging and unreliable Coleman unit. My only issue is it sometimes, under heavy load, trips the 20 amp circuit breaker it is being supplied from.

by:

This a/c is very quiet, efficient and effective. The heat pump reduced my propane use dramatically.

by:

The advent air conditioner is very quiet and works great. It was also easy to install.

by:

Works great in my race trailer

by:

I purchased the 15,000 btu model
Shipping
was fast the unit works fantastic installation was pretty easy my trailer was preset up,you definitely need the hard start capacitor as my 4500 watt generator starts it but wouldn’t without it I also purchased the heater strip that is all the pros the only con is the 2 knobs that control pop off once in a while so I glued them on definitely would purchase again

by:

etrailer.com did they job delivering it on time, good packaging and working properly.

This equipment does a good job, in the trailer is always way cooler than outside, but I still wish the AC Unit was a little more powerful. I won’t complain though, it was definitely a cheaper equipment. I could have spent a lot more in a different unit.

by:

Great customer service. Noah was very helpful and I received all the parts timely and thanks to Noah the install was easy!

by:

Keeps the horse trailer really cold during the 100 plus degree summer, Only thing is when it rains it leaks but that could have also been user error when installing it. We had to replace our old AC since it quit working on us and this one is doing the job really well.

by:

It was easy to install and works perfect

by:

Received product on the day promised. Product had a little damage from shipping. Don't think it will affect the ac working properly. Haven't installed yet. Planning on it this weekend. Will follow-up. Ac seems to be better made and heavier duty than the original.

by:

Sent wrong parts , but Reesa in customer service quickly rectified the problem and shipped proper stuff.
Awesome team of people.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

1st of all i what to mentioned that etrailer has great customer service. I received My new air conditioner kit by UPS. I installed it on a Tuesday And what camping on Saturday the temperature was 105° outside Add the air conditioner and keep my camper 70° all day inside. I will highly Recommend this product. My camper is 117' fiberglass Casita.
I had to use the old Gasket with the new gasket that the new air conditioner came with Because my camper roof was to thin.

Etrailer isfantastic!! I would definitely purchase from them again.

We haven't installed the products yet. Due to weather, it may have to wait until Spring. So I can't give the product a review.
But, I will be checking Etrailer first, for any items that I may need for my RV, in the future.
Thank you Etrailer

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Mounted it to my race trailer. It has run a lot this past year and has been great. The only issue I have had with it, is it tends to ice up on humid days when it has been running for 12 plus hours. Other than that it has been a life saver on those miserable, humid, hot days at the track.
I also have the optional heat which has also been nice to knock off the chill in the trailer on those cold mornings.

  • Recommended RV Rooftop AC Unit with Ceiling Vent and Controls
Great question. We do have the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 with the interior components. It is part # ACM150C and it also includes the start capacitor. That capacitor is extremely helpful in making sure you can start your AC even when the shore power isn't able to draw that capacity. The capacitor will automatically refill to ensure you never have an issue starting your AC. The vent assembly has a built in thermostat to control fan settings and temperature. There...

We do offer a direct replacement for the Dometic Duo-Therm RV Air Conditioner. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 for 13.5K or part # ACM150 for 15K is what I recommend. This unit will be a plug and play fit and it will work with your existing thermostat. If you replace the thermostat you're looking at an entire new system and this will require wiring so unless yours no longer works I recommend keeping it. The complete system is part # ACM135C for 13.5K or part # ACM150C...

Yes. The white version of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - Black # ACM150BC is part number # ACM150C. This is the exact same unit you were looking at, which is a non-ducted unit, only white in color to match your RV.

  • Can I Install Advent Air Conditioner In Skylight Cut Out On Travel Trailer
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM150C installs into a 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide roof opening. If you remove the skylight and the opening is smaller than 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" you can carefully cut the opening to make it larger, however it is recommended to install the unit slightly forward of the center of the center of the roof and centered from side to side. I have attached diagrams from the installation instructions for your reference.

  • Can an Air Conditioner be Installed by a Do-it-yourselfer in an Enclosed Trailer Prepped for AC
Since the trailer you are getting has the opening, brace, and wiring ready to go all the hard stuff will have already been done! I don't think you will have any problem installing AC unit # ACM150C yourself. It pretty much just bolts on. Two people are recommended for installation; one inside and one outside, to make sure it is lined up properly, but other than that there isn't anything special that needs to be done.

  • Recommended AC Unit for 26 Foot Enclosed Trailer
To cool down your 26 foot enclosed trailer I highly recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150C, which includes both the air distribution box and a start capacitor as well. The start capacitor in particular is a great feature that basically stores up energy to use for when the AC kicks on, conserving energy and reducing the amount of power needed from your batteries or inverter. • How to Determine the AC BTU Rating Needed to Cool an Enclosed Trailer
Based on the square footage of your 28 foot utility trailer the minimum BTU rating you'd need from an AC unit would be 4,760. So the Advent 15k BTU unit part # ACM150C would easily handle cooling your trailer. There'd be no need to add a second unit. To determine how much BTU is needed for a trailer you take the square footage and multiply it by 20 btu and that's the minimum needed.

We do not have a direct replacement for your air distribution box.
