Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I have a 2004 Honda trike that I built a pull behind trailor for! After pulling it loaded it was hard to stop safely! This brake assembly along with the Redarc brake controller done the JOB! now it stops safely

by:

Super easy to install, well made produc ts.

by:

Needed to add brakes to my trailer to meet the specs of our vehicle's towing capacity. These hubs were one of many purchase required to make that happen.

It's been a year and they've been working as expected.

by:

looks identical to my original one

by:

etrailer.com needs to change up their website to ask you to select the bearing size you need for this product upon adding it to your cart. This mistake is ultimately on me, but I think the site could improve the shopping experience by making the user select the proper bearing size.

I ordered two of these hubs and it came with a bearing that was 0.05 too small. I asked to exchange and they told me that the only ones they had in stock with the bearing I needed were 80 bucks more (each).

I asked to return them. Sure, no problem, that'll be $[XX] to send them back.

So my advice is to choose wisely when you order and make sure you have the right bearings.

I ended up putting my old bearings in the new hubs. Perhaps etrailer.com could have just swapped the bearings for me as an alternative

by:

Upgraded my hubs and added electric brakes to my Aliner. As usual with etrailer, great product and even better customer service. I originally ordered the wrong size and etrailer worked with me to determine the correct size for my trailer. They then sent out the new parts and gave me a full refund on returned parts. New hubs and brakes work flawlessly.

by:

Great quality product. Complete drum and hub assembly makes replacement very easy

by:

Looks good

by:

Rep Christina was outstanding!! Professionalism, empathy, courteous, and competent!. All issues resolved and we are up and operational once again

by:

Been using it for over a year now on my pop up camper and has been very dependable.

  • What Size Brake Assemblies Will Fit with 12 inch Diameter Wheels
Since you have 12 inch wheels you would have to go with a smaller hub/drum to fit underneath them. The standard size that would fit under a 12 inch rim is 7 x 1-3/4 like the part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K which fits most 2k axles. But first we need to figure out what spindles you have on your trailer so that we can determine which hub/drum would fit and then build from there. The # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K would work if the bearings in your current hub are both L44643. If you check out the link I attached...

  • Dimensions of Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K
The inner diameter of the hub and drum assembly, part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K, is 7 inches. It fits a standard 7 inch brake. The surface the brake pad contacts is 2-1/4 inches wide.

  • How Wide is the Braking Surface on the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K
The braking surface on the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K is 2-1/4" wide. I went out to our warehouse to confirm this for you. If you need a set of braking assemblies to use with them, I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2. These assemblies have pads that are 1-1/4" wide though you could use larger should you need to do so.

  • Recommended 7" Brakes with 5-Bolt Hubs for Motorcycle Trailer
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 when combined with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K will provide you with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern that is compatible with 12" wheels. If you don't already have brakes, you'll need to verify you have a four bolt brake mounting flange.

  • How To Choose Correct Electric Brakes for Boat Trailer with 13" Wheels
The correct brakes and hubs/drums will be chosen based on the axle capacity. If the trailer came with 13" wheels then it likely has a 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb axle, not 3,500 lbs. If you have a 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb axle then I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K. The axle capacity can be verified by checking the axle tag or pulling the hubs and reading the bearing numbers.

  • Hub/Drums to Go Along with etrailer 2k Electric Drum Brake 7 inch
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7 - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs # AKEBRK-2 is a kit in a sense because it comes with a left and right hand brake assembly. Since these aren't always bought with hub/drums they aren't included. It's pretty common for the assemblies to wear out before the hub/drums do. So then for a hub/drum that does have the bearings and seals included you'd want the part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K which is sold individually.
