E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Worked perfectly to replace the Dexter mobile home hubs my old trailer had. I only had to change out the grease seal to a 2.125 and throw away the 2.250 these hubs came with. Small price to pay for a big difference and ease of use.

by:

Fast shipping! Just wish it included a new washer, castle nut and cotter pin.

by:

It's been a year and it is still holding up like new. It fit like it was made for it and I store my boat on it all winter long and that ways 8,500 lb alone. Would buy another one and may do so in the near future.

Hey Chris, it sounds like you have slip on disc brakes. Can you be more specific about why the idler hub does not fit inside? Is the bolt pattern different? This particular idler hub has a 6 on 5 and a half bolt pattern. If you let me know what you have on your trailer I can assist you further. A photo will help as well.

by:

I have an old homemade trailer I use for hauling my tractor. The seals and bearings seemed to be failing on the front axle so after watching your video I decided to replace the hubs. I did order the wrong hub,the bearings were slightly larger than the ones on the old hub but after trying it anyway it looks like they are going to work just fine! Fast delivery. Pre-Greased hubs work great!

by:

Greetings Nickey;
I received
the 4 hubs Yesterday and am glad to say, they are very Heavy Duty. My plans are to replace the Mobile Home hubs on my 18' trailer to have a modern trailer with heavy Duty hubs that use the more easily available 6 bolt wheels. The old style Mobile Home wheels W/ tires are no longer available in this area, and very expensive when you do locate any.
Many thanks for your follow-up, as this shows your concern for your products and most importantly,,,your customers.

by:

Worked well for the many miles we’ve put on them! Etrailer also has the best customer service! I had to call and ask a few questions before placing an order and they answered everything without hesitation.

by:

These hubs arrived greased, assembled and ready for installation. Can't ask for more than that!

by:

Shipping was extremely fast and great prices. The hubs arrived and were a perfect fit. Will definitely shop here again for any trailer needs! The wife's reaction when she grabbed the box from the UPS driver was priceless, she had no idea that 4 hubs would way so much lol.

by:

Excellent customer service which I find to be a dieing art, quick turnaround and I received exactly what they advertised. Quality parts and attention to detail. I’ll be ordering again and again.

by:

got them a head of time. shipping was fast. didn't have any problem installing them.

by:

Fit right and the hud doesn't brake like other hubs .we used on are equipment.

by:

"I will give your company the highest rating I can. Service was good ,no problems. Parts came in quick. I had no trouble installing them."

by:

  • Availability of 5,200 lb Axle With Idler Hubs
Although we do not have a version of the # e75SR that comes with idler hubs, we do have the parts needed to put this together. All you need is the # e55GR along with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K. This is pre-greased so it is ready to go. The hubs have a slightly higher capacity at 6k but they use the same bearings and grease seal so it won't hurt anything. You will still be limited by the 5,200 lb capacity of the axle.

  • Replacement Hub for #42 Spindle on Homemade Trailer
Although we do have hubs that will fit your #42 spindle, nobody makes one with a 5 on 4-1/2 or 4 on 4 bolt pattern. The only option would be to use something like the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. This hub and drum assembly has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern and is designed for 5,200 lb and 6,000 lb axles. If you need brakes as well then you could use the # AKEBRK-6 along with the # BRKH12 mounting hardware. If you only need an idler hub the # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K...

The caster and camber could be the same on the # TASR35HDS03 and # ASR2KHDS05. The system has a slight manufacture camber. However, it is up to you on how much camber you have based on the installation. This can be changed using the included shims. As far as the ride height is concerned, these do not have the same dimensions. This will result in a different height between the systems when installed. For regular hub use part # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K but if you are wanting to incorporate brakes then you want hub and drum part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K with the brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA for electric or # AKFBBRK-7 for hydraulic.
