Andersen Accessories and Parts - AM3103

  • Gooseneck and Fifth Wheel Adapters
  • Slide Hammer
  • Andersen

This slide hammer is an optional tool for installation of the Ranch Hitch fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck coupler adapter. It makes it easier to seat the inner threaded collar around the trailer king pin.

Features:

  • Works with Ranch Hitch 5th-wheel-to-gooseneck coupler adapter, both straight and offset models (AM3100 and AM3139)
  • Allows easy installation of the adapter, even by inexperienced do-it-yourselfers
  • Made in the USA
  • 1-Year limited warranty

The slide hammer is used to pull the threaded collar over the split collar halves that surrond the king pin on the trailer. The adapter base of the Ranch Hitch fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck adapter then screws on to the threaded collar.

Although not required for installation, the slide hammer makes the process quicker and easier because it reduces physical exertion and helps to seat the collar properly. A pulley puller can be used in place of the slide hammer.

I think this hammer is essential for installation of the AM3000. I don’t see any way to position the collar otherwise.

  • Can Anderson Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # AM3139 Be Used on Multiple Trailers
The Anderson Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, part # AM3139, can be used on multiple trailers. It does not need to be a permanent mount adapter. It does use a threaded collar to install and remove the adapter to the king pin of the fifth wheel. If the collar will be removed and installed on multiple trailers it is recommended to also purchase the Anderson Slide Hammer, part # AM3103. This slide hammer will help save time in the installation and removal of the threaded...

  • Recommended Offset 5th Wheel To Gooseneck Adapter For Additional Turning Clearance In 2020 Ram 1500
I may have an option for you, but the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139 you were looking at will only give you a total of 8" offset. Combined with your orginal 27" of clearance this will only bring you to 35" which is a bit short of the 40" of clearance you were looking for. Besides using your Reese Revolution as designed with a 5th wheel hitch, this will be your best option. If you choose to go this route I recommend...

  • Recommended Gooseneck Hitch To 5th Wheel Trailer Adapter For Short Bed Truck
I have another option for you, but there is not a version of the Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter by Bulldog, Draw-Tite and Reese # 9480 that is offset for a short bed truck, and I do not recommend cutting the legs on the cab side of hitch as they are what keeps the hitch stable, and will void the warranty of the hitch. Instead I recommend going with the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139 which will...

  • Will Ranch Hitch Adapter AM3100 Work on a 2002 Jayco Qwest 5th-Wheel Trailer
The fifth-wheel to gooseneck adapter # AM3100 is designed for the industry standard 2 inch king pin. It is fairly easy to be certain it will fit, however, by taking some measurements on the 2002 Jayco Qwest trailer. You can perform these steps to determine if the adapter will work for your fifth-wheel trailer. 1. Pull the truck into position as if you were hooking up to the trailer, making sure that the truck and trailer are level. 2. Measure from the pin box to the top of the ball...

  • Will the Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter Handle Long Hauls
You should have no problem using the Ranch Hitch fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck coupler adapter, # AM3100 on your trailer during long hauls. This adapter is rated for a gross towing capacity of 24,000 lbs. As long as your pin weight does not exceed 6,000 lbs, you will have no problem. The only times you will really see issues with gooseneck coupler adapters is with unusually long (38 ft or longer) and heavy trailers. In those cases, it is best to have a quality pin box and use a standard fifth...

  • Recommendation For Adjustable And Easy To Use Fifth-Wheel-To-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter
Based on your information, I recommend the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, Item # AM3100. It fits a standard 2-5/16 inch gooseneck hitch ball and can be installed in about an hour. It works with standard or extended pin boxes but an extended pin box can be no longer than 24 inches. It is not recommended for cushioned or air ride pin boxes. The Ranch Hitch universal adapter is rated for up to 24,000-lbs towing capacity and up to 6,000-lbs of tongue weight...

As long as you have a standard extended pin box that does not measure to be more than 24" long (see photo) then I recommend using the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter part # AM3139. This adapter has an 8" offset which will be ideal for short bed trucks. It also has 3" of vertical adjustments if you will be towing with multiple vehicles. • Recommended Adapter To Tow Fifth Wheel Camper With Gooseneck Hitch
Since you have a gooseneck installed in your truck bed, I recommend using an adapter like the Andersen Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, part # AM3100. This attaches to the king pin on the fifth wheel trailer and slips over the gooseneck ball in the bed of the truck. You will need to make sure you watch for clearance when executing turns. With the short bed truck bed a sharp turn could cause the trailer to hit the truck. This adapter has a capacity of 24,000...

  • How to Remove # AM3100 Ranch Hitch Universal 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler Adapter
To remove the Ranch Hitch # AM3100, you'd remove the bolts attaching the flange to the pin box. At that point, use a spanner wrench like part # AM3104 to unscrew the adapter base. Once the base comes off, you'll need a slide hammer like part # AM3103 to push up the threaded collar, at which point the split collets will come out. Then the threaded collar can be slipped off the king pin.

To remove the threaded collar on the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100 or # AM3139 the manufacturer recommends the use of the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch # AM3103 as you can see by the cut out of the instructions. Hopefully when the installation of this part was done the instructions were followed and there was a liberal use of anti-seize grease used on the king pin, collar and collets, which is what would be needed in order for you to remove the piece....

If an adapter like the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100 has been in place on a king pin for a good long time, it will tend to want to stay there. The install instructions (step 4) advise to apply plenty of anti-seize grease to the king pin, the split collets and the threaded collar. This step is to make removal easier. • Is Offset Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter Needed For Short Bed Truck
The offset Ranch Hitch adapter is needed for trucks with a bed that is less than 8 feet long.
