Will Brophy Camper Scissor Steps Work for You?
Scissor steps are typically installed on truck campers, but can be attached to your truck's tailgate using a special mounting bracket (TSSB - sold separately). After the initial installation, they're easy to attach when needed and detach for compact storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Brophy scissor steps have a single mounting bracket that attaches to either the camper wall or the truck bumper beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available for the mounting bracket on your application that lines up with the doorframe, and measure the width and height. You will need a mounting space at least 24" wide and 1" tall.
If it turns out you have less space beneath your doorway, there are smaller step assemblies available with 18-1/4" wide brackets. A full list of the available steps is below.
Once you have an approximation of where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, the spot you chose will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the "mounting point" to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will also tell you how many steps you need.
The chart below displays entry height measurement ranges in the first column. If you determined you need an 18-1/4" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the second column. If you determined you need a 24" mounting bracket width, the step part numbers with that width are in the third column. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

Place step assembly against camper or bumper
-Make sure assembly is centered beneath the doorway
Mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill
Remove steps from bracket and set aside
Attach the mounting bracket to the camper
-Secure in place with included lag screws
Hook stairs into mounting bracket "V" clamps and extend

Well built product, I’m sure the Brophy camper scissor steps will be satisfactory. Probably outlast my camper. Perfect experience researching, ordering, and receiving the product. I really appreciate the way etrailer customer service helps, responds, and keeps you informed.1271949

Very nice and super sturdy. I bought for what may only be a one time use....but who knows. I want to take my mom on the road with me truck driving for a week. In the middle, I'll let her go gambling to stretch her legs. In all the years I've been over the road, she really hasn't even been able to see inside my cab because the steps are to high. Today I finally installed them (which was a breeze) and she easily climbed in and out of the truck without assistance. She was ecstatic....and even more so when I told her about the upcoming trip!906602
I’ve just received my new set of steps in great condition. I’m amazed at the quality of this product. They are of such great quality I’ve already recommended them to my friends. I’m even looking forward to ordering the handle rail that’s how nice they are.1288975

2014 SILVERADO WITH A 2014 NORTHSTAR POP UP CAMPER . 3 STEP MODEL WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER BUT THIS WILL WORK . THESE ARE VERY STURDY AND RAPID TO ATTACH AND DETATCH . VERY PLEASED
SOON TO UPLOAD PHOTOS OF THE 4 STEP AFFIXED . ENTIRE PACKAGE WAS A PERFECT MATCH . THE STEPS WORK WELL , HOWEVER ON MY NORTHSTAR CAMPER THE SPACE ON THE FIBERGLASS BETWEEN DOOR BOTTOM AND CAMPER BOTTOM ( 1" ) IS TOO NARROW FOR THE BRACKET ATTACHMENT . SO A SLIGHT MODIFICATION ACCOMPLISHED THE TASK . MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT I HAD PURCHASED THE THREE STEP STAIR VS THIS FOUR STEP VERSION . ANGLE A BIT LAYBACK BUT MAYBE ONLY I WOULD NOTICE IT . YOU JUDGE . GREAT , STURDY SAFE AND FAST ASSEMBLY UNIT . THANKS 121171
Awesome steps they work very well very sturdy easy on and off or used it for my service truck to work out of since it’s so high I recommend this product 471690

Got these steps today, on time. I had them installed and working perfectly in less than 20 minutes. The fit perfectly below the door on my Palomino popup camper. The steps are very stable and clearly well made and heavy duty. Despite that these are heavy duty, they are lightweight and easy to get on and off to stow in the back of the camper. One word of caution, the description says "Steps self-adjust." I thought that meant the steps would work if the distance to the ground was different. Not quite accurate, at least how I was thinking about it. When I remove the camper from the truck the distance to the ground is too short and the steps will not work. The instructions say the steps must be fully extended or they will fold up when used. Don't buy these thinking they will work with any ground elevation.1243774

These are something I've needed for a long while. I use this truck for home repair and I go in and out of the back of the truck many times in a day. Even though there is a ramp it is very cumbersome.814702
1 year on still as pleased as I can be with these steps.

I love these stairs! My truck camper came with the smaller and lighter steps which are a little easier to move but made my dog super nervous. The wide steps and non-skid steps are wonderful. These steps are a bit more effort to stow and deploy but they are built like a tank and very solid to use. Quick delivery from etrailer made the whole experience great!1103904

We have an older Lance 850 camper on a 2021 Chevy HD3500. The Brophy scissor steps are well made and sturdier than the ones they replace. We like the wider steps and non-slip tread. The only downside is they are heavier and larger than the old ones but we feel it is worth it for safety reasons.1215561

These steps provide connivence and safety. I mounted the steps with 5 carriage bolts directly to frame of our truck for extra strength. Excellent product!311362
The steps are excellent. They are strongly made, retaining their rigidity even when the ground level varies some. I leave the steps attached to the camper all the time when travelling, utilizing a fabricated bracket in the trailer hitch to secure the folded step.1161445

After 50+ nights camping our Brophy steps are working out great! We like their ability to adjust to different terrain and levels at the campgrounds we visit. We have recommended them many times to other truck campers using step stools!

I purchased this item as an alternative to the factory steps. There are products out there that are similar that actually take the place of the factory step, which leave you having to store the factory step. If you were to upgrade to a newer or different rig, you would either swap steps, or let the new set go with the old rig and then have to dispose the old set. This system keeps the original steps in place and is portable. In fact, we recently purchased a new trailer and the steps came with us and work perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased.410761
Originally the Brophy RV steps were out of stock. I explained I had a trip planned and really needed the steps for my truck camper. Carol C. worked some magic, pulled some strings, called in some favors, - not sure what, maybe all three but she got the steps to me before my trip! Thanks Carol, you rock!!1102842

Well made.. Easy to use.. Feel safe up or down on stairs. Even in the rain.. I have 4 steps. I have 3 ways to mount steps. Store well, light weight..430492
We bought these steps for our newly acquired 1991 Palomino truck camper. We did have to do a bit of re-designing on the bracket to attach them to the camper, but we did it and they fit perfectly on our camper and we are very happy to have found them and after asking about the number of steps, and receiving an answer from etrailer, we ordered the 4 step ones and are very happy with them, they are exactly the right size and walking up them makes it so much easier than trying to use a ladder. We used the original bracket to attach them to the camper, we just had to use more bolts as our camper isn't made with the wood that newer ones are, ours just has a lot of OSB wood that makes up the sides etc. We are very happy with our steps, and hope to use them often.363026

We purchased Brophy Camper Aluminum Scissor Steps (4 steps/24" wide) for our truck camper which sits approximately 36" off the ground when sitting in the bed of our truck. Installation was quick and easy. The 4 step fits our camper perfectly and will make entering and exiting a lot safer and easier! Appears to be very sturdy and well made. So far, we are very pleased with our purchase! Delivery time was excellent. 436750

For your truck camper that has a distance of 36 inches from the bottom of the door to the ground you would want the part # AS24 which has a range of 31 - 39 inches.

To use the Brophy Aluminum Scissor Steps, # AS24 on the camper you have in the bed of your 2015 Ford F150 you are going to need to remove the tailgate if you plan on connecting the steps to your camper because it would not be able to connect to your camper and also clear the tailgate. If you planned on installing the steps on the tailgate instead this would also work.

The Brophy Camper Scissor Steps part # AS24 will require 1-1/4" of clearance between the bottom of the door and bottom of the cab on your Palomino Truck Bed Camper in order for the mounting bracket to attach. The Brophy Camper Scissor Steps part # AS24 are designed to be mounted directly to the camper, just below the door where there is sufficient support. I went out to our warehouse to take a few measurements on the mounting bracket for the Brophy Camper Scissor Steps # AS24.
