Beefy hitch, lot of area to weld to. These are old school design, been around for years. My welding shop said go Bulldog or stay on the porch. Using it to add 7" to my TH trailer toung so I can mount generator box and have turning clearance. Lock the collar down and no need to worry about it. All our oil field company's use them. Price was great, shipping fast.

- Long Trailer Coupler Recommendation for a Trailer with 3 inch Channel FrameThe biggest frame channel we offer couplers for is 3 inch. What I would recommend is the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028462 as this coupler is pretty long and would add some length to the tongue of your trailer. The overall length of this coupler is 16-1/2 inches. See review video that I attached.

As the article states, 2 inch balls are typically rated with a towing capacity between 3,500 lbs to 8,000 lbs. A 2-5/16 inch ball is normally rated to be able to handle loads between 6,000 and 30,000 lbs. I recommend returning to the dealer that sold you the trailer for a clarification. If you can see the rating on the coupler reads it is rated for 7,000 lbs, that would be for the towing capacity...

Because of that you might be more interested in a Demco Coupler # DM13203-95 which uses a much more concealed latch and lock mechanism that wouldn't be as easy to defeat. For a pin lock for the Demco the part # e98888 would work really well too.
