Video Transcript for Ventline Replacement Operator for Trailer Roof Vent Installation

Today on enclosed trailer we'll be installing the Ventline replacement operator with knob and screw for Ventline Ventadome trailer roof vent with metal dome. Part number BV0115-04. We'll also be installing the replacement dome assembly for the Ventline Ventadome trailer roof vent. Part number Bv0534-00. Now you'll need to first take apart the interior portion of the vent. There's four screws that hold the outer trim piece on.

You want to be extra careful here, as the plastic becomes very brittle as it gets older. Next there's two screws, one on the front and back, that hold the screen in place. These are small Phillips head screws. With that done, we'll go ahead and set the screen down out of the way. Next, you'll remove the two screws that hold the operator arm in place. You'll then slide the operator arm out through the slot.

We'll then take the new operator arm, slide it back up into place, and put the two screws back in, holding it to the frame of the vent. Next, we're going to need to go up on the roof of the trailer. Now we're ready to install the new cover. Just slide it in from one side and as you're doing that you want to make sure that the actuator arm slides through the round portion and then up into the channel. Now, it makes it a little easier if you have someone down in the trailer to help guide this through, or to raise and lower the actuator arm if need be. Now, we'll go ahead and lower the lid all the way down where we can bend the tab over. You want to make sure that both sides are bent far enough that there's no chance they can slide back out of the track.

Next, we'll need to go down into the trailer where we'll be attaching the friction clip to the operator arm. That way it can't come off of the new lid. You want to make sure that the concave side of the clip bears against the dome bar. If you've attached the handle temporarily, you will need to unscrew it so we can put the screen back up into place. Once the screen's back up into place you can go ahead and put the handle back on. Finally, we'll put the trim ring of the piece of plastic that goes around the outer edge with the four screws.

With that, that's all there is to it, to replacing the Ventline replacement operator with knob and screw for the Ventline Ventadome trailer roof vent with metal dome. Part number BV0115-04. .

Perfect replacement for my cargo trailer. UV light disintegrated plastic dome and this one fits perfect in it's place. Took less than 5 minutes to install.

The plastic vent cover on my 2018 trailer, only a year old started crumbling and disintegrating, received this metal cover from etrailer.com and was very satisfied, shipping was quick and installation was easy, probably the last vent cover I will ever need for this trailer.
Thank you etrailer.com

I ordered 3. I received them promptly, but the hinged area that you slide onto your camper was to loose and the cover came off when I opened it. So I had to use a pliers and crimp them smaller. Then one had rivets on the support bar where the other 2 did not so it won’t close all the way.

I purchased the metal dome replacement for my ventline trailer roof vent because the original completely crumble to pieces after two years. Like always Etrailer shipped extremely fast, parts were packaged superb, installation was extremely easy and well documented with lots of instructions and the fit and finish was by far better than the originals. etrailer is the best!!

Comments
The vent covers are the best I have ever owned! I would recommend them over any other product!
Daniel - 06/27/2021

These metal vent covers were purchased to replace plastic covers on motorhome.
Easy to install. Did have to hammer dimple in one to clear vent fan motor in bath.
metal covers are lower profile than plastic. Have not had any condensation on inside of covers which was a problem with plastic in high humidity.

Comments
working fine, no problems

Came exactly as advertised. Installed quickly. No pictures of before, the plastic completely fell apart in removing. I opted to paint it white with Rustoleum, and it works great. Wish I had known this was available the last time we replaced it. Should never have to replace this on this unit again. Will definitely remember this for ANY future applications.

Comments
It’s been installed a year now and still looks and works great. Best replacement for the top vent on the market. I am not sending another pic, because it still looks as good a year later.

We have replaced over a dozen cracked and UV damaged plastic roof vents on our cargo trailers with the Ventline metal vents and replacement metal covers from etrailer.com.

etrailer has always provided us with fast turnaround time on deliveries and excellent follow-up and their pricing is very competitive.

I recommend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer parts and accessories.

no problem works great after one year and very easy to install. plus no leak even though we don't get much rain in AZ. thank you.

Comments
GREAT NO PROBLEM NO LEAKS HOLDING UP GREAT.
TIM L - 03/06/2022

by:

My previous vent cover was plastic and it did not hold up to the weather well at all. Decided to sacrifice the light benefit of the plastic cover for the durability of metal. The switch out was very simple and the cover looks great! Time will tell how much longer the metal cover will last, hopefully multiple years.

Comments
A year later and the metal vent lid is still working out fine. No more plastic lid covers!!!
Anthony - 06/08/2021

by:

Much lower profile than the original plastic dome I shattered when rolling my trailer into the garage (DOH!).

The Installation video was helpful but, due to the obscure screws my trailer manufacturer used to install the vent, I had to work topside, above the screen, using an offset screwdriver.

The replacement dome arrived very quickly (which was good, 'cause rain was on the way).

by:

Perfect fit for the trailer. Old vent was destroyed during hurricane Florence in 2018. This direct replacement fit perfectly, was an easy installation and has not leaked a drop. Highly recommend this product!

Comments
Couldnt be any better! Far superior to the plastic that came with the trailer. Easy to use and seals perfectly.
KC - 09/26/2020

by:

Just what the doctor ordered!! Needed to replace the two old cracked plastic vent covers on my 1982 vintage Alaskan camper with more durable lower profile alternatives to better fascilitate the use of the boat/canoe rack and to stand up better to heavy snow
loads. The BV0534-00 worked equally well on both the original DTS
unit and the newer Elixir replacement unit and will undoubtedly hold up to the elements much better.

Comments
Its now been over a year now since I installed the two Ventline BV0534-00 replacement covers on my old Alaskan camper and they are holding up very well and performing as good as new in spite of being continually exposed to the Ozark elements and excessive humidity.I just wish I had installed them years ago and avoided the expense and hassle of having to replace several inferior plastic covers over the years.Quality speaks for itself.

by:

Took about 15 minutes to install, had help on the telephone to make sure I ordered the right one, very polite and courteous! Thanks again,

Doug

by:

Perfect fit, easy install and most of all this item should not crack after 1 year of use like the plastic models and leak while on the road in a rainstorm. The only drawback is less natural light in the trailer but less light is better than ruined cargo due to water damage. This item should last the life of the trailer.
etrailer.com always gets your item to you promptly with great tracking options.

All is well
Kyle - 01/14/2022

Direct replacement of the garbage plastic dome, which shattered into 50 pieces. I painted this bright white and installed it with no challenge. The extra weight of the metal prevents it from opening while going down the highway like the old plastic one always did. The only discrepancy is that there isn’t a seal where it sits on the hatch. Had to install weather stripping to prevent water infiltration at highway speeds.

by:

Had a squirrel problem with the plastic one this will take care of it

by:

Easy to install. Product has and will continue to withstand our harsh winter conditions here in Quebec, Canada. The original trap was made of thin plastic who immediately broke to pieces. Very recommended for enclosed trailers.

Still going strong!

Very high quality product, I guess will last forever.
etrailer.com has video to show you how to install, very straight forward and very helpful.

  • Can a Metal Replacement Vent Cover be Used to Replace a Plastic Vent Cover
Replacement vent covers are very specific in terms of what vents they will fit. Metal cover # BV0534-00 is designed to fit Ventline Ventadome roof vent model V2110. If your vent originally had a plastic cover chances are this metal one will not fit. I have included a link to the vent covers we carry. If you are not sure of the model number you will need to look at the hinge style on the existing cover and compare it to the hinges pictured on the product pages of the covers.

  • Metal Replacement Cover for RV Bathroom Roof Vent
The only metal roof vent cover we offer is part # BV0534-00 which is meant to fit on a 14 x 14 inch roof vent with a continuous hinge. If this fits the description of your existing vent, the # BV0534-00 would work well for you.

If the roof vent on your horse trailer is the standard size of 14 inch by 14 inch then yes the Ventline Roof Vent part # BV0534-00 is a fit and would work well. If the vent you are replacing happens to be smaller you could always enlarge the hole to allow this one to fit as well. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Will White Replacement Vent Cover Last Longer Than Smoke Colored Cover For Pre-1995 Elixir Roof Vent
We offer one metal replacement vent cover. It is part # BV0534-00 but it is designed for a 14-1/4 x 14-1/4 inch vent. The 61635 and 61634 are designed for a 14 x 14-inch vent. The discontinued part 61635 is made of plastic so I don't think there will be a lot of difference in the length of time either replacement lid will last.
