Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the replacement base for the B and W Companion OEM Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, designed for use with the 2011 or newer Ford Super Duty prep package. Part number is BWRVB3300.Now this replacement base is gonna work out really well if you've damaged yours somehow. They're really heavy duty, very sturdy. I don't think that's gonna happen a whole lot. But if you have an older vehicle that had a companion in it, or if you have a second vehicle that has a companion in it, by just purchasing the base, you can save yourself a lot of money by pulling the head off of here, putting it on truck to truck.Now as far as weight ratings go with the companion, you've got a 5,000 pound vertical load limit. That's the maximum downward force we can put on it.
And it gives us a 20,000 pound gross trailer weight rating, that's gonna be the total weight of our trailer, anything we load up on it.Definitely check the owners manual of your truck, though. See what it's rated for, and don't exceed that.Now here's a good look at the polyurethane bushings that make the contact point between where the head sits down and on, and our base. Now polyurethane's gonna be much longer lasting than rubber. It doesn't tend to kind of distort, or hold a memory. So that's gonna give us good, long lasting performance.By softening up that contact point, we're not gonna feel the trailer on the back of the truck quite as much, and we're gonna reduce a lot of the noise.
Now the companion also offers a full range of adjustment here. We have our arm set currently in the forward position, but if we we're to switch this side to that side, and vice versa, we're actually gonna move this point rearward just a little bit. That can give you extra space between the front of your trailer and the cab of your truck.We're also gonna have height adjustment here with our four bolts. Behind this there're gonna be three bolt holes to choose from. So we can set it at it's lowest setting up to it's highest setting, and that's gonna give us two inches of adjustment.Now with your prep package in your vehicle, you are gonna take the rubber caps out of the top to begin your installation.
Typically a screw driver, this is just a plastic trim panel tool, just gonna pop them up and out, set them aside, so you can replace them when you're done.Now we'll grab our base. We wanna get it up in position. We typically put these in two pieces, you take the head off. Makes it a lot easier to work. If you've got two guys, you could probably get it in here in one piece, or maybe you're just really tough.But what we need to do is release our latches down here at the bottom.
Just got a clip there that holds those handles closed. And then we're gonna rotate them out, just like that. And do that on both sides.And you'll see the lug right down here, it should be lined up forward and back with the truck. Kind of in line with the truck. We'll get those slid down in each of the holes.Now we need to test our handle. And see, we're trying to turn it, it's a little bit too tight. It won't close for us. Check this one, it's the same way. So what we'll do, remove the cotter pin here. We need to loosen this castle nut up just a little bit.There it goes. Okay. That went in pretty well. A little bit of resistance, so we'll tighten it up just a notch. Yeah, that seems to be good. You don't want it to just slip in really easy, but you also don't want it to be so hard where you have to kind of tap it in or anything like that. So we'll call that one good. Put our cotter back in, spread it out.And now we'll do that for the three remaining locations, and get those all set. We need to get the spring put on, that's gonna keep our head level while we're hooking up and disconnecting. This just kind of slides over the steel here, we want the top of the spring to be about a half inch below the black right there.Now we can put the head down on the base. You can see you're gonna grab the handle on each side. And a snug fit, just kind of wiggle it a little bit as you go down. Just like that, until those handles will go down. And we'll slide our pins through each side, and get those secured with our clips.And that's gonna complete our look at the replacement base for the B and W Companion OEM Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Ford Super Duty prep package, part number BWRVB3300.

This is my second B&W hitch and it fits my Ford OEM puck system perfectly and is much lighter than the first hitch base making it easier to maneuver. B&W is the only way to go.
I have had several B&W product in the past with nothing but the highest of quality. The base plate for the factory Ford fifth wheel hitch was not the same quality I had received in the past. After continuously adjusting latch cam bolts I could only make the plate contact the truck bed in 3 points at one time. Under load of my 14000 lbs camper a lot of uneasy noises coming from hitch not what I was expecting.
Rachael H - 05/15/2018Extremely disappointed with the shipping of the hitch we ordered. Packaged in a box too small for the hitch so the ends were exposed and banged up when we received it. Reached out to customer service and they claimed it was UPS’ fault and that I should get some rust resistant paint to touch it up! The problem is how it was packaged! Then when I sent pictures I was told they would reship the hitch but I should expect it to be in the same or worse condition. Wow. We won’t order from here again.
I purchased the Companion base for my new truck with the puck system so I did not have to buy a whole new 5th wheel hitch. It saved so much time and money buying just the base and using my king pin hitch off of my older model in my other truck. Swapping back and forth is so simple instead of having to remove the whole system. Installation was so easy, even the set-up for positioning the location for the ride was a breeze. We are so pleased with this purchase, we plan on getting all of our needs from etrailer.
Take it from someone that worried for three days if I was going to be able to install this hitch or not it was a piece of cake! Took me a little over an hour! This was really easy and the instructions were very clear! The added plus to this was that etrailer, Anna was just a phone call away! I called her one time for simple clarification issue and she was such a pleasant and professional person to talk to! Thumbs up on etrailer! They got this right!
Dwayne D - 06/19/2020This is my 2nd Companion hitch. First was used in a short bed truck, needed the sliding Companion. I now have a new truck, Ford F-350 LB, with the 5th wheel prep. pkg. I kept the top section and simply ordered the lower section designed to drop right in on the Ford. I was amazed at the design of the B&W Companion Hitch. It really took about 3 min to install this unit in my truck. The folks at etrailer.com were very helpful, they answered all my questions, and followed up both during and after delivery. My unit arrived on time and would highly recommend etrailer.com to anyone looking for Goose Neck or 5th wheel hitches.
2017 F350 with factory hitch (puck) system. I bought the B&W base plate to use with my existing B&W 5th Wheel hitch that was the older drop in style. The new plate fits the truck very well even with a spray in bed liner and rubber bed mat. Locks up very snug and hovers over the bed with out fear of it touching, smashing and deforming the aluminum bed. As others have said the install was quick and easy and now the new truck is ready to hit the road.

Perfect fit in my 2019 F350. Easy install with no problems. Fit with my existing hitch head just fine.
My previous setup was with the B&W Companion Slider in a 2015, 2500 Ram. I purchased a 2021 F350 and the Slider wasn't compatible with the factory puck system. After speaking with one of the eTrailer techs I was lead to the B&W Companion base. Being able to use the hitch assembly head from the previous setup not only saved me money but it also lighted the hitch to where I can lift it out myself. Great service. Great product. Great price. This was so easy to install it took maybe 15 minutes really. We are now ready to travel with our new towing package. We will let other people know where to order their parts from.
I purchased a 2017 F250 Super Duty with the hitch prep package already installed on the truck. I owned an older style B&W hitch and was initially "bummed" that I had to purchase a new hitch. I was delighted, however, that I could buy a new base unit and that my old head unit would switch right over! And now after using the new hitch design, I love it. Once you get it adjusted with the initial installation, there's no need for any wrenches any time you take it in or out, and you can do it all from inside the bed... no more reaching under the wheel well. That's super convenient! They took a good design and made it better.
I have 2 trucks and didn’t want to purchase entire new system, being able to just get the base for my Ford F450 with the puck system and to utilize the hitch hookup from my Ram saved money.
Great product and works in my 2019 Super duty perfectly! Had some missing hardware due to shipping issue but etrailer took care it right away. Thier customer service is great and will handle any issue. I will definitely buy more products from them.

Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty. Bought a new truck with the factory pucks. Reused my old B&W head. Have used the new base for a year with no issues. Have used the old B&W head on three bases for past 10+ years. B&W is the best hitch and eTrailer is tops to work with. Pricing is good and customer service is top notch.

We purchased a new Ford F450 last fall and it came with the factory installed securing points for a 5th wheel hitch. We had a B&W in our 06 F350 but needed a new base only. The head was still fine. The new base we purchased fit perfectly and saved us a lot of money. We have been hauling our 5th wheel all over the country, safely, thanks to the base we purchased from etrailer.com. This product is easy to install and remove so you have open bed space when you need it. I am very impressed with B&W products and with etrailer.com.
Already was using the Companion hitch in my old truck, when we ordered our new truck, we got the hitch prep package. Just had to order new base to use with the puck system. Although the Companion does weigh a bit more than some other hitches, I feel it is the best one available.
