Ford Transit Connect

For pulling toys behind my Ford transit 350 camper van, this hitch has proven to work flawlessly. More than adequate for what I am able to use it for.

2015 Ford Transit T250

Wow! Shipping was very fast. And, the only way installation could have been easier is, if etrailer would have done it.
Vey pleased.

Item has worked as expected.I would recommend.

2018 Ford Transit T150

Installed it myself. Had some trouble getting self taping bolts started. Might be me.
I am 79 maybe 40 or 50 years ago I would not had to use method shown in attached photo. I have installed several of these trailer hitches and several base plats over the years.

Using a bottle jack to exert upward pressure on the bolts is a great idea, but the easiest way to go would be to use an M12x1.75 thread tap to chase the sleeves before installing the hitch bolts.

I ordered a hitch and wiring for our church van.

I give this company a 5 + for your product.

The hitch was easy to put on but the wiring took a little longer but
I was able to get it on the van.

I would recommend this company for other products that they offer.

2018 Ford Transit T150

This is the second product I've ordered from etrailer for two different vehicles and they both installed very easily. I ordered this particular model on a Friday and it showed up the following Wednesday. Clearly this company is the industry leader for a reason.

2015 Ford Transit T250

The package came earlier than originally expected which was a pleasant surprise . But the box was completely open on my steps. I did not find any damage to the hitch. I do not know if the packaging of the heavy hitch was the cause or it was the handling by your shipping company. I have purchased hitches from etrailer in the past and this has never happened before with my deliveries. I did receive all the parts in the shipment. Thankfully they were all tapped to the hitch. The hitch is in good shape and I am very impressed with the quality of the product. Even though I had a issue with the delivery I would buy in the future.

Someone will reach out to you with a hardware list to ensure that you have everything.

Thank you guys!!
I received the hitch
very fast, everything was as described and it was pretty easy to install!!
Again thanks for your prompt response and shipment…

I am very happy with all of the products which I have purchased from etrailer. Their products are good quality and their service is great!

Ford Transit Connect

Incredible price on a great hitch from Curt. I have no idea how etrailer can offer free shipping on something like this, but they do. Awesome. I ordered the ball mount complete with 2" ball and pin/clip which was likewise priced extremely competitively. The hitch bolted up to my Transit T-250 easily. I took the extra step of running a tap into the (4) unthreaded holes on the van, but it's not necessary. For me, it just made the install a little easier and made me feel better. The new Transits are generally lower in the rear vs. the old E series van's, so I flipped the ball mount into the "rise" position to get the right ball height. Stated specs for the ball mount were 2" Drop and 3/4" Rise.

by: was great. The hitch was delivered in a timely manner, and at a good price.
The Curt hitch was very nice. The weld and finish was excellent, no spatter. The mounting holes lined up perfectly.
So, the reason I only gave 4 stars is because I had to go to HD to get new bolts and lock washers. The supplied 12mm/1.75 "self tapping" bolts should have been called "self destroying". The vehicles metal frame is much harder than the bolts causing the threads to crush and flatten. If this is by design, I don't get it. Luckily, I had a 12mm/1.75 tap in my tool box. Once the thread were tapped properly, the HD bolts and lock washers worked perfectly. It just sucks I had to spend an extra $9.

2016 Ford Transit T250

Shipping was quick. The hitch does have a few drawbacks. The finish was peeling and cracked when it came out of the box. I hit it with a little shake and shoot as you can't see it when mounted. The self threading bolts were a little less then desirable, I ended up using one to thread all the holes then switched them out.

2016 Ford Transit Connect

Fit just as advertised, installed in less than 60 minutes. My only surprise was how hard the self taping inserts were to thread into, but this is a ford thing, nothing to do with the hitch. Be prepared to really have to muscle in the self threading bolts. My Bosch electric hammer drill was not strong enough to do all the threading, I had to the last half by hand. Great customer service, hassle free shipping. 2016 fort transit 350.

2016 Ford Transit T250

The hitch was very well made and fit perfectly. Completely satisfied, what else can you say, thanks

Still strong with no signs of rust or age.
Francine M - 09/04/2021

The hitch receiver came exactly as promised. Installation was a breeze. The instructions were helpful, especially the recommendation to chase the threads of the vehicle frame mounted nuts (which were very rusty). Lastly; all of the mounting holes lined up (took less than an hour including thread chasing).

2016 Ford Transit Connect

I have added four hitches to my cars over the years, the 2016 Transit passenger wagon was the easiest by far. Once I had the tools, it took less than 20 min solo. (All others have been sedans so maybe trucks and vans are typically this easy but I don't know)

Kit comes with fish wire. I spent a few minutes figuring out exactly how to execute the procedure only to find I didn't need it.

Definitely needed the tap. I also used loctite.

Hitch finish did have some of the paint peeling off (about the size of a dime) hence the 4 stars.

Very solid!
Fit my 2016 Transt - 150
You need a hammer drill to install
Very grateful and used on 3 tows!

2015 Ford Transit Connect

This is the second trailer hitch I've purchased from etrailer. I bought one last year for my wife's Honda CR-V which we just sold, and purchased a 2015 Ford Transit Wagon in it's place. We use these hitches exclusively with a Thule Bike Rack / Hauler.

This hitch arrived on time as scheduled. I could not be happier. When I opened the box, it was perfect! It was also protected well with plastic and cardboard.

I red all the reviews, most of the people whining about not being able to get the M12 bolts threaded... Well, I got all of them threaded, by myself... Yes, it takes a bit if pressure on the ratchet as you turn the bolt. But, I found out the trick is to clean with a brush and a lubricant first. Lay on your back if you don't have the vehicle on a lift, place an 11/16 socket on the bolt head and apply as much pressure on it as you can muster. While doing so, "turn the bolt a fraction at a time... small bites while keeping the pressure on. If you try to crank it in quick, it will not grab. Take your time. I was able to get them all threaded in about 20 minutes. I also found out some else. Once you get on done. THAT BOLTS threads are marred at the tip. Just use the same bolt in the next hole, it goes right in and threads almost like it's been tapped! Don' run the bolt all the way up. Go in just enough to make a couple threads and back it out. Now, get a virgin bolt, and run it in to make the threads. Next, use THAT bolt to make t threads in the next hole removing it after a few threads. Then, take a virgin bolt (#3 of 4) and run it all the way up and back out again. Do the same with the remaining Hole. USE LUBRICANT ON THE BOLT as you run it up to make the threads.

The hitch weighs 31 lbs. I was doing this alone, so just placed the hitch on a small plastic bucket about where it needed to go. I then rocked (the muffler side) up into place and started the (rearmost to the bumper) M12 so it would stay in place. I went to the left side and did the same thing. I then inserted the other M12's and ran them almost all the way in leaving space for the hitch to move.

I then did the other two remaining bolts with nuts using the fishwire they give you. It could not have been easier!!!
I torqued everything down and was done. Took me less than 15 minutes. Of course, remember, everything was all set to go with threaded holes.

The only thing that would have made this easier would be to tap the holes with the proper threads with a Tap. I didn't have one, so thought I'd try the self-tapping bolts to see if I could do it.
Done deal!

Thank you again etrailer! I'll be buying more stuff from you soon as I need kayak crossbars and an Hullavator.

Good luck everybody with your install. It just took some muscle. DON"T use an impact wrench (as they say here) - Since the threads are not actually "CUT" into the frame rail, the bolts are a bit marred. As I was torquing them, I could feel one of them start to go soft before my torque wrench clicked. I quit at that point know ing that any more torque and it was about to strip. It's plenty tight as it is, and I'm only using the hitch as a bike rack....

The hitch was priced right, easy to install, fits perfectly, I tow all over the country with it.. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a hitch to their vehicle.

As always quick and responsive order processing. Received my hitch and wiring harness in 4 days. Install of the hitch is simple, it took less than 10 minutes with the proper tools. (Impact is a must). Wiring harness connectors were a little off, easily corrected by shaving off the right side fin. If you want keep the wiring inside the van, remove the rear step trim and the driver side rear panel you can find power back there and save yourself running it all the way to the battery.

2017 Ford Transit Connect

Installed on my 2017 Ford Transit 350 XLT. The self-tapping bolts were a little work, but everything installed nicely. I've towed with it a handful of times in the past year.

Great Hitch, great shipping

Quick shipping and great product. Took me less than an hour to install with a ratchet and some jack stands by myself without even putting up on ramps. The hardest part is threading the bolts. This is the 4th hitch I have ordered from etrailer and they have all been great. So nice that this website offers videos and great customer service!!

Hitch shipped super fast and I had it in time for a planned trip. Had a small glitch regarding the required self-tapping bolts that should have been in the hardware kit, but was able to resolve the issue with bolts already on the vehicle.

2015 Ford Transit Connect

The Curt hitch for my new 2015 Ford Transit 250 did not end up being the "bolt on" item expected. My Ford did not have the threaded weld nuts that the Ford prototypes had. etrailer called Curt and discussed the problem while I was on the phone. etrailer was very helpful and gave me the contact info at Curt. This was a new but easy to solve problem that involved tapping the weld nut "blanks". I think the hitch is very well made, and I could not be more pleased with how I was treated by etrailer and Curt.

Works fine. Havent lost a trailer, and nothing is broken. What else could I ask for!
Don W - 10/05/2015

2017 Ford Transit T250

The hitch receiver itself is a very high quality product ,unfortunately the self tapping screws isn't a good idea, both the screws and the car bracket metal is soft ,when I tried to torque the screws the newly formed thread was stripped right away ,with a little improvisation I was able to fix the issue.
