Sturdy, carbide black powder coated carrier holds wet or messy cargo you don't want inside your car. Sidewalls have tie-down points to secure your gear. Hitch bolt and clip included.A must-have for anyone that owns a small car and likes to go on weekend camping trips! OR anything you can imagine (that doesn't exceed weight limits). It took around an hour to assemble.
I bought this for my Pontiac Vibe and love it! It's really easy to put on and take off. It also easily adapts to a 2" hitch for my wife's Subaru. I recently used it to pickup some snow tires/rims I bought on facebook. When not in use, it leans against the wall in my garage, out of the way. This is way easier than a roof top carrier. Plus, it's quieter and doesn't kill your MPG.
I used in conjunction with a hitch cargo carrier. It dramatically increased my ability to carry camping gear, or carry luggage when all the passenger seats are full. What is better, it doesn’t reduce your gas mileage as much as a roof box because it is within the streamline of your car, and doesn’t increase aerodynamic drag.
This cargo carrier is sturdy and works well on a Mazdaspeed 3. The rise and slight angle make it so clearance is not an issue. The carrier is very easy to put together. I did install the 8 bolts through the connecting plates in reverse of the instructions so cargo would not be scratched or torn. It adds so much cargo space for our growing family. The only drawbacks are a lack of license plate frame and reflectors which are easily added with very little cost. I used a Cruiser license mount plate with zip ties and Reese DOT approved reflectors. I don't plan to use the carrier at night but there are many license plate lights that can be added as well. I also purchased the Rola carrier bag for hauling luggage and other indoor items.
We recently bought a slightly used car with a 1 1/4 hitch already installed. This hitch gives us the flexibility to go on my wife car with the 1 1/4 hitch, or my car with the 2" hitch. We love having this rear platform to haul bulky items from our home in CT to my son's home in Chicago. It stands up to lots of weight, and offers a more aerodynamic option to a pod on the roof. Love etrailer.com! Item came quickly! Reasonable price! What's not to love?
Exact fit for the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
Item # 24884. Easy to assemble. Sturdy and well built carrier. I would suggest a LED Trailer License Plate Light w/ Bracket because the carrier will block the plate and light, as shown in the photo submitted.
This cargo carrier worked great. Used it to move a rototiller, 2 hour trip. No damage or deformation to the carrier despite the tiller being near the top of the weight limit. The hitch bolt held the carrier firmly in place. It doesn't come with the lights, I installed light kit Item # 52014. Just had to drill four small holes (I knew this light kit wasn't specifically designed for this carrier, just wanted something cheap). Works great on a Town Car, lots of ground clearance. I'm very happy with this product.
Etrailer provided excellent service and was great at recommending this cargo carrier.
This cargo carrier was perfect for my 2011 Toyota Corolla with a 1 1/4 hitch. This cargo carrier not only fits without an adapter (much safer and can carry the load better), but it also is elevated over the hitch by another 4-5 inches to give greater clearance and it moves the cargo carrier away from the exhaust pipe. I worried about the heat from the exhaust pipe previously.
This was easy to assemble and install (about 30 minutes). About 6 main parts + some bolts. Easy to install. I'm going to use this for a cross country road trip.
I like the design, although it would be nice if you would have the same size in a aluminum material for a inch and a 1/4 hitch? Maybe build most in aluminum "but" have the receiver bar metal?
The Curt Cargo Carrier was exactly what I needed. It fir perfectly, was easy to assemble and is very solid. Hauled items for a 12 hour trip with any issues. Etrailer shipped it same day and I received two days earlier than predicted. I also ordered a Curt trailer hitch from etrailer that was easy to attach to my vehicle. Great job Etrailer for providing such a good product.
This did great on a 5500 mile roadtrip and 150lbs of camping equipment. It held up well and the raised hitch made it nice for the steep inclines on trails so there was clearance. I did add amber reflectors on the side and red on the back from walmart for extra visibility.
I just assembled and installed my new 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches on my 2013 kia soul. Was easy to assemble and i am impressed with how solid it is once installed in hitch no wobble or movement. I plan on using this for hunting hauling muddy boots and gear will free up a lot of space inside of my kia. I will also use to haul gas jugs to refill.
Product came with clear directions to assemble. Seems to be of good quality. Was hoping it would be made in the USA (did not check) like the Curt hitch I bought, but it was not. Not the end of the world. Only reason I am taking it down a notch is the mesh metal in the center bends a bit, not much but with ~155 lbs. on it I can get it to bend. But I will never have more than ~250 on it so it will work. Good for the price.
I wanted to let you know that both the hitch and carrier arrived and I have already installed them both. They are awesome! Shipping was fast and the box arrived in great condition.
The video you have on your site helped out tremendously. I didn't have the use of a lift, but had a jack and two jack stands. It was a little difficult that way, but still doable.
This carrier came in real handy during a recent move. The larger items/boxes that we couldn't fit in our CR-V were easily strapped down on the carrier. While we were making relatively short trips to the new home, for longer / more numerous trips it would be wise to purchase a portable license tag holder since it doesn't take much on the carrier to block where the normal tag location is on the CR-V.
this is lite and strong. it fits my app lication
overall pretty good value. A bit on the flimsy side, but works well for light duty bulky stuff. I probably wouldn't put more than about 150 lbs on it, but I like to be well within the advertised limits of stuff like this. Assembly was quick and painless, nice anti rattle pin included and works well. I was looking for one that tilted down or swings away from the vehicle, but couldn't seem to find one that fit a 1-1/4" hitch. All in all it's a good product. Fast shipping from etrailer.
Went on vacation that included a drive over 300 miles. Had a 1-1/4 hitch installed on my Mazda CX 5. This cargo carrier stood up to the test with flying colours. The screw in bolt was just as tight when we finished the drive as it was when we started it. Added my own reflective stickers and used a tarp, bungees and ratchet straps to protect the cargo.
Cargo carrier #18110 installed on a 90 mazda miata. ROAD TRIP READY! Happy with the purchase! Thanks etrailers!
I just returned home from a beach trip with my new cargo carrier. Overall it performed as needed. Having installed this on my 2006 Toyota Corolla I am happy I purchased a carrier with a rise in the shaft (raises the platform approximately 3" above the hitch insert). The carrier lightly scraped the ground a couple of times when pulling out of steeper parking lots onto the main road. Assembly took about 45 minutes doing this alone. Make sure you follow the directions and don't tighten the bolts the entire way, but make sure you tighten them enough that the square part of the bolt head will not fall out of the square hole or you run the risk of not being able to properly seat the bolts as you begin tightening all of the other bolts. I was slightly disappointed by the hitch pin. This does not use a standard slip through hitch pin and a standard pin will not fit. It instead has a threaded pin (included) that you need a 19mm socket (or box wrench) to tighten. I was hoping to use my Master Lock locking hitch pin, but was unable to because it was too large to fit through the threaded part of the carrier. There is a hole at the end of the threaded hit pin for a cotter pin so you may be able to put a small luggage zipper type lock in there for added security. The other disadvantage to the need for a socket is you need to take one with you on your trip if you plan to remove the cargo carrier, which I did for daily driving during the week around town. So again, overall it performed as needed and I would recommend this to a friend, but would make sure I pointed out the hitch pin setup as I don't think most people would expect this.
Perfect. Took some finessing to tighten down the bolts but I did it on my own. I used it to move about 250lbs worth of belongings in containers from NY to FL (Little over 1,300 Miles).
Great carrier for hauling some extra camping gear. Only complaint is it sits pretty low if you’re driving a sedan. As far as the product, perfect for what we needed.
Used to transport a 65lb electric bicyc le
I am so glad I ordered my cargo carrier from E-trailer.The package arrived on time and was exactly what I was looking for in a cargo carrier.I liked the easy to follow instructions as it only took 40 minutes to put together. This is my first order from E-trailer and I would not hesitate to order something again. The good service and quality products have given me peace of mind for my next order. Thanks E-trailer!!
Was very easy to assemble. It will add to my cargo capacity in the near future as I move back to Texas.
