perfect length for my specific application. Because the end piece is solid I was not able to insert an anti-rattle device into it. Therefore I will probably weld the extender to the double receiver since it'll be a permanent application.

I had a back ordered item that eventually came along with some other items I ordered at the same time. I’m not good about waiting but the wait was worth it as the entire order came a couple days ago and I immediately started using the items. Thanks for getting it right.

Works very well just like advertised.
Boyd - 06/02/2022

This extender does a pretty good job of keeping my bike away from the rear radar system in my Venza so the backup warning system does not engage in error. Beware it’s pretty heavy.

Quality products. Excellent customer se rvice.

Works great and reasonably priced. etrailer Customer Service is absolutely the very best. My first shipment arrived missing the hitch extension. Customer Service quickly responded to my communications and shipped a replacement the same day.
As you can see from the photo the hitch extender is perfect for my Polaris Ranger and allows me to use my small lawn n yard implements.
I highly recommend etrailer.

Great product perfect for what I needed.

Solid and good price.

I order a 14" steel (2" type) hitch extension and I received a heavy steel, well-made extension; as advertised. eTrailer found that upgraded faster shipping was available at the same price as regular slower shipping, so they upgraded me. Very nice service!

It is pretty long so works well with exterior spare tire vehicles or if you want access to truck tailgates down with load extenders. Have not used it in that capacity as of yet.

Curt’s brand, only the best! USA made, The shaft that goes into the hitch is solid steel not the hollow China crap. I used the hitch extension to make a rear hitch step 12” wide by 38” long for my ford van. I strap my kayaks on top for when we go camping this step just gives me that need height to get them in the kayak saddles before I climb on top to tie them down. I put two kayaks on top so the 38” across comes in handy. With my front hitch I can also put it in the front when I’m working on my van or truck to give me that extra hieght - I’m 6’ and I can’t reach a lot of stuff, even cleaning the windshield.

Came fast and exactly what I ordered

HD and worked great

The weld looks solid, but needs ground down, or the hole drilled in a different location. The weld prevented the holes to line up. I had to go get a grade 5 1/2" bolt to secure it in place, rather than a hitch pin.

This product is well built and quality! It allows me to use the hitch platform on my Jeep liberty without having to remove the spare tire. Exactly what I was looking for and a quick delivery as well! Great investment.

Works great had one on my Motorhome it broke had to buy a new one on the road way to long

Hasnt given me any problems yet
Kevin B - 07/24/2020

Thank you for your email, I was amazed how quick I received my item. Just bought a newtruck I tow an atv and on my old truck I dented up my tailgate from the device that lowers and raises the trailer, this extender did the trick, now the tailgate on my new truck won't get all screwed up.

Worked great ! Solved problem opening tailgate on jeep tj with spare tire mounted. Opens enough to reach in .

Product is just what we needed and we put it to use immediately with no problems. It enables us to freely engage the rear lift door of our vehicle with my handicap scooter loaded on it's carrier. Great for us.

Just what it says fits great. eTrailer is fast and easy as always. Great experience shopping with.

Ordered a 14 inch trailer extension and the quality is a 10 out of 10. Probably weighs 25lbs. Was very quickly sent to me, really days before I expected it. Great company to do business with.

Excellent service and fast delivery to a remote part of the country. I would definitely recommend etrailer for sales and really liked their UTUBE instructional films.

exactly as I hoped. delivered quickly and the price was the best I found. many choices of similar products on the site. Very happy

Exactly what I wanted. Solid Shank with 350lb support. Quick shipping. Thanks for providing a quality product.

Exactly what I needed to clear my H2 Hummer spare tire! Very heavy duty product, quick shipping.

Very heavy duty.

  • How to Determine Correct Hitch Extender for Bike Rack on Jeep Wrangler with Rear Spare Tire
To determine the length you need measure from the hitch pin hole on your Jeep's trailer hitch receiver out to the edge of the spare tire. Then add an inch or so to give you a little space. Some extenders are only designed to be used to flat tow a vehicle and not to hold any tongue weight so make sure you choose an extender that is designed for carrying accessories since you're going to use it for a bike rack. Part # C45795 is a great 14 inch option. 37 inch tires are normally 12 or...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2007 Ford E-450 Chassis on Old U-Haul Truck
Since the frame ends so far short of the bumper, I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41990-07. Then you will need to use a hitch extender like # C45795 which will reduce your overall towing capacity to 3,500 lbs and 350 lbs tongue weight but you will still be able to tow any trailer within that range.

  • 14 inch Hitch Extender that Can be Used to Tow 4,500 lb Vehicle
We have a hitch extender that does have the capacity needed and is 14 inches long with the # ST12 but the Curt you referenced would not have the needed weight capacity as it is limited to towing up to 3,500 lbs. The # ST12 has a 7,000 lb towing capacity.

  • What Hitch Extender Do I Need to Clear a 35/1250/17 Spare Tire on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?
The tire width of a 35/1250/17 spare tire is 12-1/2 inches. If you have a hitch receiver that like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98856 that sits flush with the end of your 2016 Jeep Wrangler's bumper, I recommend the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795. The 1-1/2 additional inches of the 14-inch extender will allow you to attach accessories without interference. It must be noted that any time you use...

  • How Much Does Hitch Extender Reduce Tongue Weight Capacity
The answer is actually pretty simple, because using any type of hitch adapter, including a hitch extender, reduces the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent, and that includes both the towing capacity and the tongue weight capacity. I am not certain what the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 is, but using the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795 or the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Receivers -18" Long # C45796 will reduce that...

I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V XD - 2" # C15325. It is heavy duty and will be able to handle anything your truck can. For an extension we have several options depending on how much room you actually need. Keep in mind that the extension will lower the max weight and tongue weight of the hitch by 1/3. If you need a lot of extra space you can use the Curt Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers -18" Long # C45796 or the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches...

  • Recommended Hitch Extender For 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited To Allow Kuat NV To Clear Spare Tire
For your Kuat NV # NV22G and your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, I recommend the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795. This will allow your bike rack to clear your spare tire when folded up, but you will want to note that using a hitch adapter like this will reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50 percent.

A ball mount like the 180 Hitch 2-Ball Mount w/ Stainless Steel Balls # LTB4-2 will allow you to use the hitch ball rise position with the extender unless there is a noted restriction on your extension. Most extenders do not have that restriction. For instance, the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795 has restrictions of a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs and maximum towing of 3,500 lbs. You will also want to recognize that the use of an extension will reduce...

If you need to use a hitch extender like the Curt Hitch Extender part # C45795, this will reduce the weight capacity of the hitch by 50%. This is not just the case for the above hitch and adapter but any you use with a hitch extender.

When the Yakima LongArm Truck Bed Load Extender # Y01149 is in the fully extended position then it can be used with the tailgate down on your 2012 Toyota Tundra. This extender is not designed to be used in the upright position with the tailgate down as it would definitely hit your tailgate. To get around this issue, you could install a hitch extender which would allow the Yakima LongArm Exender to be in the upright position with your tailgate down, which seems to be your overall goal here...

The shortest hitch extender we offer is the part # C45791 which will give you an additional 8 inches of extension. You should note that when you use an extension like this you end up cutting the capacity of the hitch it is used on in half. To prevent movement of this extension in the hitch you would...

  • Hitch Extender For 7,000 Lb Trailer Towed By Motor Home
The Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long part # C45795 is designed for 2" hitches and a maximum trailer weight of 3,500 lbs so it would not be a good fit for your 7,000 lb trailer. We do not have a good option for an extender to tow a 7,000 lb trailer because extenders do cut the tongue weight of the hitch on your vehicle in half. A better option is to use an extra long ball mount like Ball Mount 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop, Extra Long part # D-26 which measures 12-5/8" long...

If it is then you'd have to go with a different option like the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 14" Long part # HE12 which will allow for up to 4-1/2". Using an anti rattle device on both the extension part # C45795 and the spare carrier part # C31006 would be ideal as you'd have quite a bit of movement without doing so. Between the extension and the carrier you can use the part # 63232 since the carrier has a hollow shank. Then since the extension has a solid shank you'd need to use a U-bolt style anti-rattle like the part # RM-061 and you'd be set. The # 63232 doubles as a hitch lock so for a standard hitch pin lock for the extension...

  • Hitch Extender For Adding Enough Space Between Trailer and SUV to Open Rear Hatch
You can do that if you wish, but be aware that using an extension lowers the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. The further the load gets extended away from the hitch, the more leverage is applied. This leverage can damage the hitch or cause it or its attachment points to the vehicle to fail. If you can get by with the reduced capacity, I'd recommend the 12 inch # MT70024, the 14 inch # C45795 or the 18 inch # HE18. An extra long ball mount might be a good alternative. If you click...

The connection between the hitch and adapter is where you would need the anti-rattle device, right? Since the adapter shank is solid the pest solution is the anti-rattle device # RM-061-125. For that I recommend the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795. To get some additional space (presumably to open the camper door) you could use an "Extender" like the 14 inch Curt # C45795. Hitch extenders like the Kuat # HL20B and similar items # C45791, # C45795 and # HE12 do give you more clearance to install a hitch accessory like the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack # SR2415 but the trouble is these extenders also reduce the hitch's tongue weight (TW) capacity by 50-percent. All adapters like these push the actual weight of the loaded bike rack further away from the hitch and this means the rack's weight will put more stress on the hitch. The extra connection point...
