This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the integrated fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

2019 Kia Sorento

Hello, I am very pleased with the ease and quality of this wiring harness. The way this is designed, with the proper connectors that connect directly to the factory conectors, was super easy to install with no splicing of wires. As for the Hitch itself, again, I am very pleased with the quiality of the unit. I would definitely recommend having 2 people for the install and proper tools, unless you have a Hitch rig to be able to do it yourself. To have a Hitch such as this installed by someone else would have cost hundreds more, I have checked.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

i cant add to what is already known about curt products...iv'e been buying them for years...this hitch and wiring set up is top of the took me 10 min to install the hitch..that incl getting it out of the box...the wiring harness...boom plug and play baby!!

a year later..its all good...curt is made to last..

2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

The wiring harness works great and was a perfect fit for my 2015 Santa Fe. The installation was straight forward and fairly simple. One problem was the double sided tape must have been sitting around for years, and was no longer sticky. I had to improvise with glue.

Wiring harness does as expected and was a easy connection/install. The video where to locate factory tow plugs and how to takedown panel was a asset making for quick process. Tested all function post install everything good ready to now haul with my Sorento.

excellent plug and play ! Great service . I ordered the hard wire from the battery version but saw the quick plug when I started to wire . called etrailer and they sent the factory tow package immediately . No problems.

Harness fit perfectly into factory connector. Better quality material than factory used.

Very satisfied customer videos for exact wire harness with exact vehicle make is super easy and felt very confident installing myself following the videos provided.thank you etrailer.

My mechanic had no issues adapting and installing along with new hitch and ball support.

Exceptional customer service. Tech was very knowledgeable and my warranty request was shipped ASAP. I will definitely use etrailer again.

Very easy to install on a 2019 Kia Sorento with the factory tow package. It plugs right into the factory connectors. For the 4 Pole Flat connector I used bracket 18144 since the wire is fairly short. It looks clean and professional. This bracket attaches directly to the no-drill bracket already present on Draw-Tite hitch receivers.

To check if your vehicle has the tow package you just need to pop out the 2 plastic rivets on the driver side panel shown in the install video and see if the 2 connectors are present. I was not able to confirm through the dealer or Kia corporate which Sorentos have the factory tow package.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

The site was easy to use and search for what I wanted and needed. In addition, the DIY videos on the site gave me the confidence to complete the install. From installing the hitch receiver to the connection of the 4-pole wiring kit(hint: if you're vehicle has the prewiring for towing, they have the custom kits to match). Install was a snap, like 5 minutes, due to the exact fit of the product. It took out the unnecessary problem of figuring out the wiring. Thanks for everything! You definitely found a new customer and I will be highly recommending this site to my circle of family and friends.

Install was a breeze with instructions and installation video.

2019 Kia Sorento

Your provided instructions on finding connectors connections on our 2019 KIA Sorento, proved to be exact and very clear. The combined order of Curt Wiring Harness and Curt Trailer Hitch, was promptly and properly received today, and using your videos, both installations were accomplished with regular hobby hand tools to a perfect fit and fast results. NOW we are looking for a suitable boat to hit the water! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR GREAT HELP!

2016 Kia Sorento

The folks at e-trailer were absolutely great in helping me identifying the proper harness for my new 2016 Sorento. Once ordered it came in a few days and installation was a breeze. The online video was great at explaining the installation process - much better than a handful of printed pages and diagrams. Once the access panel was removed and the factory caps removed from the prewired connections it was effortless - about 20 minutes start to finish. Everything worked perfect during the post installation check - Well done etrailer.

The wiring harness worked great and the videos helped a lot. I did fry the fuse testing the connections but only because I had my tester set on a much higher amperage than it could handle and the fuse worked like it was supposed to. Was truly plug and play once I gained access to my already installed equipment.

Still working great. We use the hitch all the time but not so much the wiring harness. I wish larger bike racks came with built-in brake and turn signal lights that I could utilize my harness for but thats another subject all together.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Thank goodness the car came pre-wired so I didn't have to run the power line all the way up to the battery. The video demonstrating the install is one of the best benefits of buying from etrailer along with price and quality.

Quick and easy to install. YouTube video on installation made this a snap

Trailer hitch and wiring kit were a “perfect” fit. All holes lined up properly all necessary nuts/bolts provided. Videos for installation are very helpful and provide clear views of all the key issues for a simple professional installation. I found the paper instructions for both confusing and poor quality graphics. Video the only way to go! My experience with initial ordering, delivery and follow up questions were very good. These folks really know what quality customer service is as well a produce an excellent product.

2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Part was super easy to install with the quick-connects. I especially appreciate the thorough installation videos. Wiring needs to be routed through a small hole in the rear of the bumper frame on the passenger side that is impossible to see and very difficult to feel out (2008 Hyundai Veracruz), but with patience and determination, you'll figure it out; watching the install video helps you find your bearings. I was disappointed in the shipping speed (or lack thereof rather) as it took a little over a week to arrive.

Products were delivered within a few days. Will have them installed next week.

Fast plug and play

Perfect fit for my vehicle. Greatly reduced time and effort to install my trailer wiring. I have never liked tapping into my vehicle wiring as I know those connectors will damage the wires. This product eliminates any possible wiring problems.

This wiring harness is the best thing since trailers . Perfect fit, works flawlessly.
Max R - 09/27/2021

Plug and play! And it comes with adhesive that allows you to fix the position of the converter box were preferred.

Connected to existing wiring perfectly.

2018 Kia Sorento

It was super easy to install. I watched the tutorial video on the website and installed it by myself in about an hour. I was impressed on how heavy duty it really was. I also bought the plug and play wiring harness. I will be testing it out today.

First, thank you for your recent purchases from etrailer. Yes, the Curt wiring harness recommended for you does indeed fit your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The notations on the packaging just simply reflect that the particular harness we shipped to you was produced prior to 2014. Its packaging reflects the confirmed vehicle fits as of the time the printing was done. I have linked for you an installation video showing this harness in a 2013 Santa Fe.

First, you'll want to make sure the included 10 amp fuse has been inserted into the red fuse holder on the wiring harness. The harness won't operate without that fuse installed. Be sure that both the connectors were firmly pushed together until they clicked, or the connection might not have been made.
