eZ-Latch Coupler

This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the contoured handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.

Always great service and fast delivery! Tongue coupler and wheels and tires made a big difference!

by:

This replacement fit right on and bolted in place within 5 minutes. Probably would have been faster had I used power tools. I like the new ball latch much better. I have provided 2 photos for your viewing pleasure. First one without the product on and the second with the replacement attached and the old one setting on top. I want to say that George J provided excellent communications from the moment my order was processed all the way to delivery. etrailer by far has the best price & service. I would do business with them again in a heartbeat!!

Rock solid and very happy with my replacement. I am retired and going camping is my job!!

by:

Bolted right up in place of my original hitch without any drilling. Seems a bit better design than the old one with the same model number.

by:

It has been a perfect upgrade and replacement for my 27ft enclosed snowmobile trailer! The EZ-latch function is a great feature! Highly recommend this hitch!

by:

Exactly what I needed and fast delivery as always!

by:

Purchased to replace the “surge setup” on my 24 ft boat trailer= replace the neck, go with electric brakes....much better setup, and NO u will not have issues (being electric) when backing into the water. Much cheaper than fixing the worn out surge brake system. Great product / A+ customer service / much cheaper than any competitors price!

by:

Love the EZ Latch.

by:

MY CUSOMER LOVES IT.

by:

Great new product, much better quality.

by:

Good product. Easy 10 minute installation. Fast shipping and awesome communication.

by:

Great option when ditching a surge brake model for electric over hydraulic. Wish it had a metal latch, but maybe it will last forever. Lost a star for that.

by:

The Bomb perfect fit.
Very easy to install
only 45 min total including the removal of the old welded on coupler

by:

Excellent coupler, it’s a bit pricey but worth it.

by:

It fits perfect. I haven't had a chance to use ut yet but your service and shipping was great

by:

Looks good. We haven't got to putting on yet.

by:

Very good customer service and great co mmunication

by:

Great product and excellent quality. Delivery was super fast to BC Canada! Will recommend any day. Thank you.

by:

Folks if you've never had the ease of this hitch you are missing it. It's by far the easiest hitch I've EVER used. Back up n line up under it, then simply let trailer down on the ball. The black latch raises up then back down and it's latched, put safety pin in and done. Best of all the way it's made, it's nearly impossible to come off by accident. Great service too.

by:

I've been very happy with dealing with etrailer both in ordering and quickness of receiving my order. I have not installed this product as yet but have fitted and all looks good and I'm hoping it works as designed. This type of hitch will take away some pain and strain by not having to manually lock onto ball.

by:

Great company to deal with l won’t buy my parts anywhere else

by:

Had to replace the existing 1 7/8” coupler with a new one and decided to go to a 2” ball to make the changing of trailers This fit perfect

by:

Hard product to find locally! It was super easy to find on etrailer, was shipped quickly and arrived within days. I am very satisfied with my experience with etrailer.com.

by:

It hasn’t arrived yet

by:

We were needing to upgrade our hitch for a towable piece of equipment in our rental fleet and this Demco with the EZ Latch was the perfect choice.

Love this Coupler very easy to use!!!!

  • Replacement for Shelby 5107 Trailer Coupler
So what you're looking for is a straight tongue coupler for a 2" ball with a 3" channel that can handle at least 7,500 lbs. For a replacement that fits these requirements we have a few options from Demco. If you want a zinc finish with a 200-Hour salt spray rating we have the # 12564. If you would rather have a silver powder coat finish with a 500 hour rating we have the # DM15000-52. Both have a 10,000 lb weight capacity and a bolt-on installation. Both of these also have an eZ-Latch...

  • Recommended Replacement For A Dutton-Lainson Trailer Coupler 980-2
Hey Mike, The Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15000-52 that you were looking at is exactly what I was going to recommend when you said you want an easy hookup. The Demco eZ-Latch will let you couple up to the trailer without having to lift the latch. When it's time to drop the trailer off just lift the latch up and it will release the ball. The closest two mounting holes to the latch side of the coupler are spaced 3" apart just like the DL 980-2. To prevent anyone from taking...

Hi Ed, Yes, the pin # C87ER included with the Curt QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Coupler for 2" Ball # C82CR is 1/2" diameter so you could use a locking hitch pin lock like the Curt # C23517. This locking hitch pin is 1/2" in diameter with a 2-13/16" span to fit the width of the coupler.

  • What Does 2" or 3" Channel Mean For Straight Tongue Trailer Coupler
I believe you were referring to in general what does a 2" or 3" channel mean since you didn't reference any specific coupler, but a 2" or 3" channel is simply the width of the your trailer tongue the coupler attaches to. For example the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-3001-Z fits a 2" wide trailer tongue and the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15000-52 fits a 3" wide trailer tongue. I have added a link below to our entire selection of straight tongue trailer couplers for...

Both of these kits use plug and play connectors for the breakaway battery, trailer disconnect, and brake controller module. As your trailer likely only has a 4-way you can use the Adapter # HM47365 to make the trailer connector plug and play. • Replacement 2" Ball Coupler Options For A 2" Wide Trailer Tongue
Demco unfortunately doesn't have an EZ-latch coupler for a 2" wide channel so you're left with three options: etrailer # CT-3001-Z (3-1/16 bolt hole spacing) Curt # C82CR (3" bolt hole spacing) Dutton-Lainson # DL13835 (3" hole spacing) Of the three options the Curt # C82CR is going to be the easiest to use since it just has a 1/2" diameter hitch pin to slip through the coupler and lock the ball in place. The only other option would be to have some 1/2" steel plates added to the...

Hi Ed, If I'm understanding you correctly your trailer's frame is 3" wide and the coupler needs to have a 2" ball. If so the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15000-52 you were looking at would be a compatible fit. I've attached a little diagram below showing the bolt pattern so that you can check if it will match up to the current pattern so you can avoid drilling into the frame. • Should Titan Model 10 Surge Brake Actuator Be Locked Out Or Replaced For EOH Brakes?
The HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HBA16 you were looking at is the correct Electric Over Hydraulic actuator for the disc brakes on your tandem axle boat trailer. You can lock out your Titan Model 10 surge brake actuator by having it welded which will cause it to not allow the inertia of the trailer to activate the brackets. Since your trailer has a bolt on coupler it would be easier to replace the coupler with a standard coupler like the Demco...

Best option we have is the part # e98887 for a pin lock for the Demco coupler part # DM15000-52. This has a pin diameter of 1/4 inch and a length of 2-1/2 inches so it will fit tight to your coupler and fit well still.

There are a few options for the trailer coupler when switching from surge to electric trailer brakes. If the coupler has a pin that can be used to lock this out then that would be best but the other options are welding the slide or replacing it entirely. If you don't have a pin then I recommend a full replacement. In order to find a replacement you'll need to know the trailer weight and frame style. • Are Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes Required To Have Trailer Brakes Work at Boat Ramp?
You will need to use electric over hydraulic brakes to back down a boat ramp and still have the brakes apply. A Surge Actuator # DM72VR will not apply the brakes since the weight of the trailer is pulling the trailer back down the hill versus pushing into the tow vehicle. I do not recommend using electric only brakes since the electromagnet for the brakes will be submerged in water when launching or retrieving your boat. Yes, the Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HS481-8067 would be the correct kit to use on your boat trailer with surge disc brakes. Depending on what type of channel and coupler you have will decide on the best coupler. Most boat trailers will use a 3" wide coupler so you might find either the 2" Ball # DM15000-52 or 2-5/16" Ball # DM13203-52 to be your best option. • Replacement Coupler for Shelby 5107 Trailer Coupler
Hi Steve; first of all no, there are no repair kits since Shelby went out of business years ago. The # DM15000-52 and # 12564 can replace it assuming you have a 3" wide channel tongue but you will probably have to drill new holes. We don't have the mounting hole spacing for the 5107 to check and typically there isn't a good match when replacing old couplers. I went ahead and attached some diagrams with the bolt spacing below so you can compare them to what you have now.
