• Why Would Trailer with Electric Brakes Lock Up When Vehicle is in Reverse
  If you have a trailer with electric brakes and they are locking up when the vehicle is in reverse that means that you have a short between the reverse light circuit and the brake output circuit which is locking the brakes up. Go over the two circuits and see if you can find where they might be shorting out together and causing this problem. Electric tape like part # DW04367 can be used to insulate the two circuits. Or it could be caused by corrosion on the connectors shorting them two together.

• Connector Recommendation to Wire in Trailer Brakes
  You can use butt connectors like the part # DW05745-10 or if you have a soldering iron you can solder the connections and then wrap the connections in electrical tape like part # DW04367. The butt connectors have a nylon insulation that you can apply a heat gun to which will also insulate the connection. If this is a boat trailer it's important to make the connections as waterproof as possible.

  If routing the wire in your trailer frame caused any of the wire insulation to come off of the wires and now the metal core of the wire is touching the frame of the trailer that would cause a short.
