Video Transcript for Review of Deka 3/8 Ring Terminal - DW05705-1

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a very quick look at this Deka ring terminal. This ring terminal is going to allow you to easily connect your wires to a stud, so like on a battery or something like that where you need a nice solid connection. This does allow you to crimp the vinyl installation down onto your exposed wire. This is going to have an internal diameter right about 3/8 of an inch. So it's going to be good for your 3/8 inch diameter studs, will fit right up in there.

This is going to work for your 12 and 10 gauge wires, will fit right in there, allow you to crimp down on them and give you that nice secure connection to attach to your stud. That's going to complete our look at the Deka ring terminal. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching.

  • Both Turn Signals Flash at The Same Time
The cause of both turn signal lights flashing together would almost certainly be attributed to a poor ground. There are several grounds you will want to check which include one for each light, the trailer side trailer connector and the vehicle side trailer connector. One of these locations will more than likely contain the problem you are experiencing. It is important to make sure each ground is attached to a bare metal surface. It may be necessary to undo the ground wire and then use some...

  • Can 7-Way of Electric Trailer Jack be Cut Off and the Wiring Run to Trailer Battery
If your electric trailer jack has a 7-Way built-into it for power, like the Buyers Products # 3370093500, then it is completely acceptable for you to cut off the 7-Way and run the power to the positive terminal on your 12V battery. Instead of running your ground to the negative terminal on your battery though I highly recommend grounding it to the frame on your trailer. This will be a much better ground option that running it to the battery. You do want to check and make sure that your...

The third cable you mentioned for the Truck Bed Cargo Camera # 3460010 will indeed plug in between the camera and module cables also included with the kit. The red and black leads are for the camera's power and ground. The module also includes extended leads for power and ground. I have labeled the picture you attached accordingly. The ground leads (black) from the module and camera need to be attached to a bare metal surface using ring terminals like # DW05705-1 and a screw. The...

  • Connecting Electric Trailer Jack Directly to 12V Battery
To hook up a trailer jack to a 12 volt battery you need to make the connection from the jack's power wire to the positve post on the battery using a ring terminal, like part # DW05705-1. If you don't already have a battery on the trailer you can add one. You'll need to power it by connecting it to the trailer connector's 12 volt power circuit. You can use part # e99011 if you need to add a 7-way on the trailer. You'll also need a 7-way connector on the tow vehicle, which I can help...

  • Tips for Getting a Large Trailer Wire to Fit into a Small 7-Way
If you are having a hard time getting the connector wires from your trailer into the replacement 7-way that you have there are a couple things you can try. The first thing I would try would be to twist the end of the exposed wire until it will not twist anymore. This will make the wire as skinny as possible and give it the best chance at fitting in the slots. Or you could use ring terminals like our part # DW05705-1 to attach to the wire, and then attach the ring terminal to the 7-way....

  • Grounding Trailer Lights That are Mounted to Wood Rather than Metal
If the lights you are using have wires coming out of the back like the Optronics Camping Travel Trailer Stop, Turn, Tail and Back-Up Light, part # RVST56, then you can simply connect an extension wire like part # DW02359-1 from the ground wire on the light to the trailer frame and ground the white wire from your trailer connector to the trailer tongue. If the lights you are using ground through the mounting hardware, then you can simply run a jumper wire from the post on the light that...

We've got a solution for you. You'll want to use a Deka Quick Disconnect Battery Terminal, part # DW05312. This leaves the charger grounded once the negative battery terminal is disconnected. I've provided a photo showing where to place the ring terminal.

  • Power To Brake Controller and Trailer Connector on a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 Cut Out
The power for the brake controller and trailer connector on your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is feed from two studs on the power distribution center (PDC) which is located under your hood, in the engine bay. The only thing that I can think of as to why both the power for the brake controller and trailer connector suddenly went out assuming there were no blown fuses is if the ring terminals on these studs somehow came loose. Therefore, you will want to check the flange nuts on both of...

  • Trailer Tail Lights Dim When Brake Pedal Is Depressed
The most likely cause of the tail lights dimming when the brake pedal is depressed will be attributed to a poor ground. Therefore, in order to fix this issue you will need to either try and clean the ground point or run a separate ground wire from each tail light up to the trailer connector. This should then fix your issue but if it does not then please just let me know and I would be happy to further troubleshoot this issue for you. You will need to have a separate trailer battery for that function, but you can charge that trailer battery from your vehicle 7-way when you hardwire it. • How to Create an Electrical Grounding Plate on DIY Truckbed Camper for Running Lights
The short answer to your question is, no. You're going to be best served by running your ground wires together and grounding them at a single point on the trailer using a ring terminal like the # DW05705-1 and a junction box like # 38656. Since aluminum not is a great conductor of electricity, that wouldn't be a good choice to create your grounding plate- if you can ground it to steel instead that would be optimal. If you need wiring to run all these grounds together you can use 16 gauge...

  • Trailer Warning Lights Flash in Vehicles Message Center
The trailer warning lights flashing in your message center sounds like either a ground issue on the trailer or a corrosion problem between the trailer connectors. I would first start off by disconnecting the trailer connectors and using a bit of electrical spray to clean the pins. Once done, I would also use a bit of dielectric grease like part # 11755 between the two connectors before mating them back together to prevent future problems. • Troubleshooting Ground Circuit on Trailer
Good job in testing using a different trailer! You've effectively eliminated the tow vehicle as being the problem. You are absolutely on the right track in suspecting a ground problem to be the cause of the issues you're having. From the trailer connector, trace the white wire to where it attaches to the trailer...
