Video Transcript for Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal. You're simply going to tie all the grounds together and we'll attach the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal and we'll simply heat shrink it. You're just going to heat up the outside and it'll melt around there and it's going to seal out any kind of dirt and grime or corrosion that could get inside there. You'll see it's going to shrink up and it just clamps around the wires. You want to make sure you have a nice clean spot to put your ground. Just simply scrape off any old paint, debris that's on there. You want to have a nice clean area with bare metal for your ground to attach.

We have a nice good tight ground. That's going to complete our look and install of the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal.

Great quality connector, and the heat shrink insulator worked great for a nice tight fit.

As always, has just about everything you could want to maintain your trailer, at a great price and with great service.

Still like new
Bob R - 08/11/2015

Ordered several electrical connectors, wire and a wire tester .. all items came in good condition ,looking forward to using the tester as soon as I can I am sure it will do the job.

Great parts made my job wiring my race car trailer....simple ..... thanks for your help.

Easy to use and makes great sealed conn ections.

Everything is working great. Your parts helped me put a nearly new, yet fender-bendered, trailer back together for a very reasonable price. It rolls down the road great! Ill probably be contacting you all again in the near future for a wiring harness for a trailer brake controller on my new-to-me F250 when the weather finally decides to dry out a bit!.
Ryan R - 03/20/2018

They hold tight and e weather proof too! I will buy again when needed.

Just as advertised.

Everything is still working as intended - I am still very happy with purchase.
Logan H - 12/13/2017

  • Diameter of Wire Terminals in Spectro Wire 38656 Trailer Wiring Junction Box
The terminals in the Spectro # 38656 are 1/4 inch in diameter, I've confirmed this with my Spectro Wire representative. The # DW05740-1 ring terminals would be compatible with the terminals in the junction box.

  • How to Connect 6V and 12V Batteries for 12V Battery Bank
You will make your battery bank larger (run time for your RV longer) if you run the 6V batteries in series and then those to the 12V battery in parallel. You'll need 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1 as well as ring terminals like the 1/4" # DW05740-1 or the 3/8" # DW05741-1 to complete this installation.

  • Where Should Ground from 7-Way Connector be Installed
You will simply want to connect your Ground wire to a clean, bare-metal surface on your vehicle. This can be done with a ring terminal like part # DW05740-1, which has a 1/4" ID, or part # DW05741-1, which has a 3/8" ID. i have attached a video of our Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 being installed on a 2012 Ford Van where you can see this being done at the 2:00 mark.

  • Grounding the Optronics Thin Line Sealed LED Marker/Clearance Light # MCL-91AK
You are correct that the Optronics Thin Line Sealed LED Marker/Clearance Light # MCL-91AK that you referenced will require a jumper ground wire to be run to a metal portion of your trailer frame if it is installed on a plastic surface. You will want to use a ring terminal like # DW05740-1 to make a solid ground connection to the trailer frame. Sanding off any paint from the grounding spot will help ensure a good connection.

  • Where Do You Wire The Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack On The Trailer?
When we installed the Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack # BD500199 on the utility trailer we ran the power wire to the 7-way junction box. When demonstrating the jack the 7-way was plugged into a 12 volt power source similar to the power that will come from the charge line of your vehicle. You will want to ensure that your charge circuit is working and does not have a damaged fuse or relay on your specific vehicle. Also when operating the jack you will want to be connected to the 7-way...

  • Wiring Additional LED Lights On Yahama Royal Star Tour Deluxe Motorcycle
You would need to install a switch for the lights from the 12V battery. Since you are installing LED lights, you should not have any problems with power draw. We do not carry switches that are specifically designed for motorcycle lighting but you may want to take a look at the product page I attached for the switches we offer. You can add an inline fuse holder like part # SWC9545. Each of the lights will need to be grounded to the motorcycle so I recommend ring terminals like part #...

  • Wiring a 12 Volt Charge Line For a 2017 Ford Expedition
I recommend running a 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 that we offer by the foot to the front of your 2017 Ford Expedition. In line you will place a Circuit Breaker # PK54230 and use Heat Shrink Ring Terminals # DW05740-1 to connect the wire to the circuit breaker. This is best placed in the engine compartment to keep it away from water and corrosion. The circuit breaker will provide up to 30 amps of power, if power does exceed the 30 amps the breaker will trip and automatically try to reset. This...

Everything you need to install a 7-Way. The junction box makes troubleshooting lighting and other problems much easier. If you already have a junction box then you can use # H20044 and just use ring terminals. You would need 4 of # DW05737-1 and 3 of # DW05740-1. I have also included some links on testing and troubleshooting brake...

  • If Brake Wiring is Damaged do Trailer Brakes Need to be Changed Out
If it's just the wiring that has been damaged then you only need to replace the brake wires. We recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 for the installation. Electric brake assemblies have 2 wires; 1 for power and 1 for ground. It doesn't matter which wire on the brake assembly is used for which function. When installing the C-800 Klauber Stabilizer Jack Motor, # LC138445, the largest gauge wire possible should be used. I recommend 10 gauge wire running from the battery to the 20amp breaker and then to the motor. As well as on the motors ground circuit. I recommend using # 10-2-1 wire. The wire is sold by the foot and is a jacketed 2-10gauge wire. • Can The Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Adapter Power a Wheelchair Lift Motor?
According to the owners manual for your 2020 Honda Ridgeline your 7-way uses a 20 amp fuse for the charge line that would power the Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47675. Of the couple lifts that I checked the manufacturer requirements for power they both require a 30 amp fused circuit connected to the battery with a 10 gauge wire. • Does Trailer Battery Need to be Grounded
Yes, in addition to using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to send power to your battery, you also need a length of it and a ring terminal # DW05740-1 to ground the negative post of your trailer battery to your trailer frame. Please note, just like in the answer you are referring to, connecting the 10 gauge wire to your trailer 7-Way will only provide you with a maintenance charge. • Horse Trailer Brakes Lock Up When Using a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector for Trailer Lights
You are correct that the wires from a 4-way flat trailer connector should have nothing to do with a trailer's brakes or a brake controller, and it is hard to say what is causing the trailer's brakes to activate. It is possible that somehow the wires for the turn and brake signal are touching the brake wires, causing the brakes to activate when the turn or brake signal is activated. You can try checking all of the trailer wires for damage, such as pinches or tears, where the wires could...

Because of this I would instead recommend you go with the Tow Ready # 119190KIT.
