This Furrion Chill AC system lets you replace an existing setup or add a new setup if your RV or camper doesn't already have one. It includes all of the components necessary to adjust the temperature inside your RV.

Air Conditioner

Furrion

The air conditioner has two fans, each with their own motor, to help move cool air faster and more efficiently inside your RV on a hot and muggy day. It also has a built-in start capacitor that uses stored energy to give an extra boost of power to help jump-start your unit when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power. Integrated rubber dampeners on the compressor reduce vibration and allow your AC unit to run quietly.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Furrion Air Distribution Box

The air distribution box has a built-in thermostat and accommodates ducted and ductless systems. The 2 knobs allow you to manually control the fan and temperature settings. One knob controls the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease airflow. The other knob allows you to set the temperature. It also features 2 slotted registers to maximize airflow in your RV. The registers can be closed to divert more air to the ducts in a ducted system.

I purchased a Furrion AC unit for my cargo trailer so I could camp at Sturgis this year. The unit arrived on time and it sat in my garage for over three months. When I finally got around to opening it about a week before Sturgis I discovered the cowling was broken. Much to my surprise when I called etrailer and sent photos they promptly sent me another cover which arrived in just four days! Etrailer was fantastic. I was really worried that 1) I was out few hundred for another cowling and 2) I would not get the part in time. They covered the broken cover and got me the part quickly. In these times when everybody has horror stories about customer service Etrailer excelled. Thank you Etrailer

by:

Do not buy these for use on a race trailer or cargo trailer. They do not tell you that you need 3 inches of roof thickness when you are buying it. After you install it you learn the hard way like i did that it freezes up, supposedly because i only have 2 inches of roof thickness. Zero help from Furion or etrailer. The tech department told me i should have read the installation instructions before i bought the unit. I have almost $2600 in 2 air conditioners that do not work properly.

Comments
We do have it listed on the product page that this AC unit fits with roofs that are 3.5 inches to 6 inches thick.

Save your money buying this unit! First of all both of the ones I ordered came in damaged. Second, they constantly freeze up! I did my research after purchasing these units and realize now that low air flow is a common issue and the units will freeze up! Furrion will not help you one bit! The tech guy put it back on me and said I should have read the installation instructions before I purchased to realize you must have 3 inches of ceiling thickness before the unit will work properly! Save your money with these pieces of garbage. I have nearly $2500 in 2 air conditioners that do not work properly.

by:

First of all let me say that the unit needs to have Styrofoam on the front, back, top and bottom. The box looked very bad when it arrived. I am very surprised that the unit wasn’t damaged.
Second I think the company needs to offer a spacer when the the roof isn’t thick enough. I had to make one so the inside unit would be spaced correctly so it would bolt up and fit. Now I have a space between the inside cover and the ceiling.
On a better note, the unit looks freaking amazing on the pop up. Even with the camper not popped all the way up and the canvas not attached it was still cool in the camper after running for 30 mins.
I would highly recommend this unit over the others so far. I’m excited to see how it does when I take it camping.

by:

Very poor air box design. Very low flow and cool air distribution.

Comments
Did you use enough sealing metal tape and insulation during the install? This is a 15,500 BTU AC. This thing will push some air.
-- Etrailer Expert David B - 09/20/2022

So, I was going to wait to leave a review until I resolved issues with etrailer but there is no reason to wait. Why you ask…because this unit is cheaply made and utterly useless. First, as others have experienced, mine arrived with a broken lid. Second, it doesn't cool worth a D! I “upgraded” from a 13,500 BTU unit to this 15,500 unit and it literally cant keep up with anything. The air distribution box so severely restricts air flow it feels like nothing is coming out. I’ll be pressing for a FULL refund and return on this unit. Totally and utterly USELESS! DON’T BUY!

by:

I love the power of this unit. Super cold, but only after I cut a hole to allow the air to blow out better! The factory airflow is very anemic compared to what you may expect from a 15.5k. Without this mod it feels like a weak 13.5. Used on a 25’ class C.

by:

top cover had problem in shipping they sent out new cover

by:

etrailer was good to work with, but the Furrion AC unit was very poorly packed for a unit weighing 80+lbs. The unit did not survive shipping and the shroud was broken in 5 places. etrailer offered to replace the unit, but the replacement will be packed the same, so doubtful if the results would be any different. etrailer offered only $xxx credit for the damages. I’m going with JB-Weld and fiberglass to repair the shroud. All because the factory packing was extremely inadequate. etrailer should drop this vendor.

Comments
I am sorry for this experience. The majority of these units arrive intact. I am glad you are working with customer service so that they can provide assistance with this issue.

The customer service and the shipping were outstanding. The unit shipped out the same day and I had it delivered in 5 days , that was with the weekend in that time frame. Customer service was Great, She was very knowledgeable of the A/C unit that I needed to replace in my trailer. If there is a need again to replace a hard to find part, I know now who to call. Thank you

by:

The folks at etrailer exercised extreme patience with my order errors and helped me get my Furrion Chill up and running. Courtesy and professionalism were always the cornerstone of every transaction.
If I have one suggestion it would be this; please update your video instructions and reviews to advise RVer’a that upgrading to Furrion products requires special wiring that is not compatible with many RV manufacturer wiring practices. RV Factory thermostats are not compatible which forces the end user to run wires along ceiling channels or other creative (expensive) means.
When my secondary A/C dies I’ll be ordering another Furrion Chill to take its place.

by:

I have a 16x7 v nose trailer I installed this in. I insulated the roof with foam sheets cut to size but the walls and floor are not insulated. I had to brace the roof of the trailer in order to support the weight of the unit. Overall it’s better than nothing and lowers the temp 10-15* below ambient which makes it bearable inside of the trailer. My 2000w generator was not able to power it so I bought one of the predator 3500w generators and it does great. It will last around 7 hours on a tank of fuel.

by:

etrailer promptly replaced the shroud which was damaged in shipment of the new air conditioner for my camper.
Thanks

by:

The Ac unit arrived Quickly and was in perfect condition , waiting on the second part of order , (the air box unit) I bought many items from E-trailer and so far all items received was in the best shape....

by:

The unit cools good when it's not freezing up . This happens regularly almost daily . The filters are maintained every 2 weeks and the outside unit has had the coil cleaned and the drain pan rinsed to assure proper draining of the water condition. Also the fan speed of the unit stays pretty much the same regardless of the fan setting position

by:

Overall, very happy with the unit and s upport

by:

Working now like it did on day 1. Cool as ever

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Ac cooling works super well - Quieter than the stock colman unit, but that does not mean its very quiet, the 14x14” roof top opening limitation just does not allow for quiet cooling :( and that is no fault of this unit. Issues: The all metal mounting plate was great in dry AZ but in Florida humidity has been a real problem, with our very poorly insulated racetrack ducting (thanks for the absolute crap work Thor!!!!) cooling the Al frame around the 14x14” hole way too much causing the metal to sweat (condense water) right onto our bed - solution is to use 1/8” neoprene stick on insulation (see black in picture) all over every bit of exposed metal to stop the condensation since i can’t fix the racetrack without destroying the roof or ceiling - we used 1” foam (purple in picture) on the frame of the 14x14” opening and 1/8” neoprene on the supplied metal frame (plenum) - in hindsight i would use the neoprene everywhere. Second & third issue are short cycling and falsely thinking room is cold - these are due to poor Furrion design choices!!! This we found was due to the air temp sensor being designed into the ceiling unit vs in the wall mount thermostat, its quick to register temperature changes and our race track (as i think all are) does not have a set of one way flaps, so the other ac unit’s cold air makes its way backwards through this units air out port into this units air intake and thus makes that area very cold when this unit is off while the other unit is on, which in turn prevents this unit from engaging! (An issue only because both my units are sharing the RV’s racetrack air ducting system) However because this unit is in a tiny bedroom area the temp sensor cools itself too quickly (again, Its in the air intake port) this is odd as we don't use the dump ports, they are custom blocked off to force 100% of the cold air to the race track away from the unit, regardless the intake air gets cold in 45 seconds and shuts the compressor off way too soon so short cycles the unit (less than a minute on time!!!!) I seem to have fixed this by insulating the very short wire of the thermistor and pushing the thermistor tip through one layer of the decorative cover (you have to drill a hole, keep the hole very small and ideally insulate it) - this forces it to be in the dump ports output stream “space”, which in my race track only install means its room temp as the feed to the dump port is TOTALLY sealed off so is the best representatives of room temp up by the unit (even better than when i had the thermistor go all the way through the decorative cover into the room) All in all the unit is good and the issues are mostly due to Thor’s crap race track insulation (or lack of) but having the thermostat have its own temp sensor would be much better to avoid short cycling (wish i could convert to do so while keeping the nice thermostat look and a 1 degree tolerance). Finally the units outside cover was broken in shipping (as i was expecting from reading other reviews) but etrailer made that right no grief what so ever. Definitely etrailer keeps impressing, follow service up is proactive and great! Wish someone made a unit that was dc inverter based to have no inrush issues - i have soft starts but that is still far from the goodness of a minsplit like inverter based dc compressor that gets a true soft start and variable speed power savings!

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I think the air conditioner seems to operate very well at this time.
I was surprised and not satisfied with the cooling temperature sensor being located within the return air plenum and not in the thermostat.
This seems to cause the air conditioner to short-cycle without using the air conditioners capacity to cool the room.
I would appreciate a response to this issue with a solution to fix it.

Comments
What we recommend is to take the black wire with the sensor on the end and tuck it up into the wire bundle which will shorten the lead on the sensor. This will help the sensor from getting too close to the cold air duct and picking up an inaccurate reading. It is also suggested to use metal duct tape to help further seal the seams between the ducts and the air return.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Very poor product. Nonstop trouble. Won’t cool consistently. When it is cooling, it does a poor job .
Now it has evolved to, just not working.
Numerous calls to Furrion Customer Service has yielded no positive results.
Most recent call ended with no effort to troubleshoot, “just call a repair guy”.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I bought this after reading good reviews. I have installed it in my motorhome. Instructions are very vague, especially with the wiring. So far, both A/C units work, but only one furnace works. I have requested better wiring diagrams, but no response. I'm a bit frustrated with the support. I also wish they had the heat pump cycle like my old units did.

Comments
If the brand of your furnace and thermostat is different you will need to get a different wire harness to make the setup work.

My contact at Furrion said though that any excess condensation (which really shouldn't be much, if any) would simply be drained out of the side of the AC and run off the roof of the camper or RV. There isn't a separate attachment or pan available that can be added to collect this.
