Video Transcript for Review of Go Power RV Solar Panels - 190 Watt Eclipse Solar Kit - GP97MR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Go Power Solar Rigid Eclipse Charging System. This is a black-framed 190 watt monocrystalline solar panel. That's going to convert your sunlight into electricity to provide you an off grid charging solution for your RV's 12-volt or 24-volt battery systems. This will work with your lithium, sealed, gel, and flooded lead-acid batteries. Because it does have that monocrystalline construction, it is going to be very efficient in converting that sunlight to electricity for you.

Monocrystalline is the most efficient solar material on the market right now. And because this does have this weatherproof, impact-resistant, anodized aluminum frame with our tempered glass, this will stand up to the elements very well for us. So it's gonna do a good job. We can trust, leaving it up on our RV's roof, that it's gonna hold up well for us. As far as our dimensions go, this is right at 59 inches long, 26 and a quarter of an inch wide and right about an inch and a half thick.

It weighs just under 26 and a half pounds. So it will take a little bit of effort to get it up on your roof, but once you get it up there, it's gonna do a good job of converting that free sunlight into electricity for you. We're also going to get our 30 amp MPPT solar controller. This is going to act like the brain of the operation, so it's gonna connect between your solar panel and your battery to convert your electricity coming from your solar panel before it goes to your battery. So this is going to optimize and convert the solar panel's output to provide maximum charge for your battery.

It is going to monitor your battery to make sure that it's not overfilling or overcharging the battery or charging it too fast. So it does have an automatic, multi-stage smart charging system, and that will help to extend the battery's life. It's also 30% more efficient than your legacy controller. So it is gonna do a really good job for you. But this is going to be mounted down below your RV, in the cargo type area, close to your RV's batteries.

So then we're going to have this remote with the digital display that will allow you to monitor your amperage, voltage, and battery capacity. They include a 75 foot long cable here so that you can get this mounted up in the RV where it's gonna be a lot more convenient for you, but then they also have Bluetooth capabilities, so you can view and change your battery information from your smartphone. So that will be mounted in your RV, but then you'll still be able to use your smartphone to adjust and view things. This kit is also going to include these 25 foot MC4 cables, the installation hardware that you're gonna need to get your solar panel mounted, and a user's manual to make sure everything is set up properly. Now, this system is going to provide 9.89 amps. It's also going to provide 20.4 volts of DC voltage. You can add on other solar panels. They have add-on panels that are just like this without the charge controller and remote, just come with just the panel. So if you're wanting to collect more sunlight, so that you can charge your batteries faster, we have those available here at etrailer.com. You can also add more MPPT controllers, so you can stack those to expand your solar power to 3000 Watts if you're wanting to have more power coming in while you're out in the sun. One thing I will note. This is going to include all the installation hardware that you'll need, but of course anytime you're mounting something on your roof, it is a good idea to pick up some Butyl tape and some self leveling sealant to make sure that there's not gonna be any water getting into your RV with the screw holes that you're putting in to get this mounted. That's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Problem: Wire connectors and ring connectors were to small for wiring . Personal: The Monotor for the system is to small, and all information is drab dark LED. Works fine but very hard to see and very hard to read if your not real close. Needs to be larger and colored LED information read out. Product: Functions well and pretty well plug and play. Tech support: I’m not an electriction, but have electrical savy. We called tech support and (I’m hard of hearing, but thought his name was Nico), was very courteous and patient we me. Would recommend the produce except for the very small hard to read monitor.

  • Availability of Go Power Rigid Eclipse 190 Watt Solar Panel
If I understand correctly, you linked to the Go Power Rigid Eclipse Solar Charging System with MPPT Solar Controller, # GP97MR but instead of the kit, you want only the panel without the controller. For this, you will want to select the Go Power Rigid Eclipse Expansion Kit, # GP47MR. This is the 190 Watt Solar Panel that is in the kit you linked to and does include the installation hardware and MC4 branch connectors.

  • Will Go Power Eco Solar Charging System w/ Digital Solar Controller Be Enough to Charge 3 Batteries
The Go Power Eco Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # 34273837 would be enough to trickle charge your batteries, essentially keeping already charged batteries charged up when not being used. It would not be enough to actually charger dead batteries or keep up with batteries being used. You would need to step up to a kit like the Go Power Rigid Eclipse Solar Charging System with MPPT Solar Controller # GP97MR. This kit would allow you to run some smaller applications like...

  • Recommended Solar Panels For RV Use in All Weather & Conditions
So there are a couple really good options for solar panels for the roof of your RV for all types of elements, depending on the power you need. For both wind and all weather, I highly recommend rigid panels over flex panels to resist the wind. And for a controller, an MPPT is necessary, particularly if you are in colder weather, as this type of controller is much more efficient and optimizes the charge your batteries get. Here are the options for you: - 200 Amp Hours of AGM/100 Amp Hours...

  • Recommended Inverter and Solar Panel for RV
For a 30-Amp service RV with the Progressive Dynamics Mighty Mini AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger, # PD4045KA installed, I recommend the 1,000 Watts - 12V Progressive Dynamics Pure Sine Wave Inverter w/ Transfer Switch & Remote, # PD94FR. I really like the build quality of the Progressive Dynamics products and this component has an integrated transfer switch that will automatically change from inverter to shore power when you hook up to a power pedestal at the campground. The Go Power Eco Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # 34273837 and Go Power Rigid Eclipse Solar Charging System with MPPT Solar Controller # GP97MR you referenced both will be wired directly from their controllers to the battery bank and will not be wired to an inverter first. Your inverter will be wired in as it's own system and not intertwined with these solar panel kits. As for the installation difficulty, if you're already prewired for this brand of solar systems...
