Trailer Hub Grease Seal

by:

I was unable to find the double lip type grease seal at the local auto parts stores. I prefer the double lip over the single lip. Anyway I have bought many Items from etrailer and have been very happy with their service. It's time for me to service my trailer bearings again and I'll be calling etrailer for more seals.

Comments
As it turned out there was a problem with the shipping of the seals after the order last year. I had needed the seals in a certain time frame as I was getting our camper ready for travel. I couldn't wait any longer so I had to resort to getting the single lip seals at a local auto parts store. Eventually I got the seals from etrailer and I've been storing them for the next bearing service.

I am surprised that I got this email a year after the purchase. Originally there was a shipping problem and I didn't get them before our planned departure date with our camper. I had to go to a local auto parts store for seals but unfortunately all they sell is the single lip type. I did eventually get the seals from Etrailor and I saved them. I just finished repacking the bearings yesterday, May 29th and used the new seals. I will be ordering another set soon for my next year servicing.

by:

Have used this product in the past good quality fair price received product in great condition have not had any problems with this product will order again e trailer always has the products I need at a fair price

by:

I ordered these based off measurements of my old seals since I couldn’t find any numbers and markings. They fit perfect on my 6 lug C&B flatbed trailer! Thank you etrailer!

by:

These are excellent quality, I ordered them for my car hauler trailer [triple 8k axles] and after a year they are still holding up and offering great moisture and dirt protection as well as keeping the grease in! I will definitely order these again from E-trailer, they have great customer service and super-fast shipping as well as the best/lowest price.

by:

The seals are great and an exact replacement for what I have. Making 4 stars instead of 5 due to shipping. The postal service took longer with multiple delays, which I can’t put on etrailer. However, there was 2 day delay from when etrailer said was shipped and the USPS said it arrived at their facility. Don’t know if etrailer or USPS. I will pay more to have sent any other way than USPS in the future.

by:

The seals were fine when we got them. They originaly provided a delivery date, which changed after the order was placed. We then tracked the order and provided another delayed date. We then ordered from somewhere else and this shipment arrived the next day after we requested to cancel the order.

by:

I bought a used 2002 camper with 2 dexter d-52 axles and I wanted to grease the bearings. I took it apart and the pads feel off the shoes so found this website and upgraded my system to the 23-428 & 23-429 never adjust brake assembly plus 2 new seals. Less than an hour an axle and you are done. I recondmend these guys for any parts I need in the future...

by:

That is the part I ordered but that is not what you sent me..Enclosed is a picture of what you sent me...Cancel my order ...I will no longer purchase anything from your company. Terrible customer service

I couldn't find a replacement locally, but leave it to E Trailer to come thru and have the part at a great price.

by:

etrailer is my go to place for trailer and RV related parts. They have what I need at a fair price, ship quickly, and the parts are always right. The installation videos are a great help if you are not sure what you are doing. These seals I ordered are spares just in case I have a bearing failure.

by:

These fit my 2003 Airstream Safari 25 p erfectly.

by:

Worked perfectly on my Dexter axle brake hub. Exactly what I needed.

by:

Very happy with her knowledge of the products. Pleasant to talk with. I received the products in a timely manner. Over all very happy. Thanks.

by:

The seals work very well. E trailer is always good to deal with.

by:

by:

by:

Fit my trailer drum brakes perfectly.

by:

First order damaged in shipping box. Replaced quickly.

by:

I received the seals pretty quick! They were significantly less than my local providers! One local source, $43+, here, under $10 delivered!

I also ordered complete brake assemblies with self adjusters! Free Freight! 12x2, all 4 under $192.00 delivered!

I would sure order again from here and especially with Katie M. She was awesome and made me thankful I called her! My brake assemblies were here in two days!

I have told 2 people about etrailer.com so far and am proud to praise them!

Thank You!

by:

so far so good, much better than the top test unit. over time the top test button would take water in and short out the board inside. this one having everything on the side works much better

by:

I had no problem. Actually, I looked other places but couldn't find it.

  • What Do All the Other Markings On the Trailer Grease Seal GS-2250DL Mean
There are usually several markings/numbers stamped into a grease seal. I don't have a full list of what each of these mean but date of manufacturer "ex. 2015" and model number "ex. GS-2250DL" are both usually present. That said, you don't need to worry about trying to decipher all these other codes and markings. The Trailer Grease Seal part # GS-2250DL is what you need for replacement.

  • Where is Trailer Grease Seal Measured to Pick Out Replacement
The seals like the part # GS-2250DL has an outer diameter of 3.3376 inch which is the diameter of the bore on the hub that it is designed to fit and then the inner diameter is 2.25 inch which is the outer diameter of the spindle it fits on as well. So if you measure your hub and the area a seal fits into measures 3.3376 inches then the # GS-2250DL and the outer diameter of the spindle you have measures 2.25 inch where a seal rides then this is the correct seal. • Does Secondary Number on Grease Seal Impact Replacement Needed?
That second number on your seal does not make a difference in the fit and function. It is a time stamp/production code to help the manufacturer reference if there is something that has gone wrong in manufacturing to remedy any production line issues. It is not anything you need to consider in ordering a replacement Grease Seal - Double Lip - 2.250" ID - 3.376" OD # GS-2250DL. Since your outer bearing is scored you will want to replace the bearing. If you are able to get the bearing numbers from your other wheel, let me know and I can give you the correct replacement bearings and any other components you need. Otherwise, you need to measure your spindle with a calipers to find the correct bearing diameters. I recommend you remove your hub and current grease seal so you can determine what you currently have. There should be a number stamped on the outside of your grease seal. If not you will need to take an accurate measurement of the outside diameter of your existing seal, or the inside diameter of the mounting surface for the seal in the hub. You will also need an accurate measurement of the spindle at the seal surface. I have posted a photo to show the dimensions you will need to measure....
