7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 4' Long - H20043

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (341 Customer Reviews)

Worked great for my application. The wire colors for 7 way plugs aren't universal so I had to pull up a pinout of a 7 way plug and ohm out the wires to the plug to confirm what went where. But the quality of the plug is excellent. After a year of use on a salt water boat trailer it works great. Just makes sure you heat shrink your butt splices and a little dielectric grease in the plug goes a long way.

by:

When I ordered this harness I thought I was getting a standard 7 way for a conventional trailer with brakes. What I actually got was a harness made for a camper/RV hook up. The wires have all the colors you would expect but all the lights/turn signals are coded into the plug completely different. After spending a good deal of time carefully matching, soldering and heat shrinking all connections to my new trailer harness, I was very dismayed to find only the brakes actually worked. After a bit of research I found a schematics page on the etrailer site and discovered the problem. As this is a molded plug I could not take it apart and just reposition the wires inside the plug. Another full hour or more of rewiring followed and now all is well. The harness itself is of very good quality but was not labeled/identified properly. This could have been prevented if etrailer would clearly label this harness as a camper/RV harness only.

Ordered 1/28 - showed shipped 2/1 with estimated delivery date of 2/6. It had a USPS tracking number that would only show the label was created. Never showed the product moved. After two contacts with customer service I was told they can't track the package until a certain date. I was notified 2/17 my package would be delivered that day. Not sure what contract etrailer has with USPS but I can track a tin of cookies to Pittsburgh, PA I think they can tell me where my $[XX] package of parts is at.

by:

This is definitely a good quality molded cord for the money. Route and wire this cord into a good quality junction box and you will be on your way to having some excellent trailer wiring.

by:

Very fast shipped you guys are great ordered from you many times always happy with everything:)

by:

love this connector. much better than the coiled connector that was put on my trailer. I found the wiring directions easy to follow and online demonstrations were very helpful. Shopping and checkout are easy. Prices are competitive. been very pleased with trainer and previous purchases!

by:

I would recommend ordering the 8' cable, so you have room to trim it back to fit your application.

by:

Used this on my snowmobile trailer. The cable outer jacket is to rigid (Not flexible). Gets worse in colder temps. Don't recommend it for cold use. Picture is in garage at 53F. Cable is so stiff it won't fall on the floor.

by:

Item arrived a lot earlier than predicted and seems to be of a real good quality.

by:

Good quality cord. Would buy again.

by:

My old plug came loose going down the road and wore a big flat spot that made it hard to tell which way to plug it in. This new one is a huge improvement!

by:

Great connector and harness for the price. Very well made

by:

The quality of this trailer plug connector should make it last forever! The seal at the end will withstand the constant bending and twisting that this daily-use utility trailer will put to it. The blade style RV plug end will fit any factory equipped pickup receptacle so I can use multiple tow vehicles.

Still working fine after a year in my Coastal saltycorrosive weather.

by:

Trailer wiring was too short for use with a weight distributing hitch.
Cut this to length and attached a plug on the end.
Plug the trailer wire harness into this extension and other end to truck.
Saved cutting and extending original trailer wiring.

by:

Well, my first impression of this item is it is very sturdy and will be a great addition to my trailer.

by:

Harness was a perfect fit.

by:

Love the molded design, they last much longer with no maintenance.

by:

34 degrees or colder the cord looses all flexibility, becomes so stiff it broke my plastic insert it plugs in to on my Tahoe.

by:

Right now 3 stars. Received the connector 12 Oct 2021. The cord on the trailer had the same connector on it which worked if you manipulated the pins to make connection (reason for replacing). The wiring colors on trailer, old connector snd new connector are the same, so adding new connector wasn’t a problem. When I plugged into the vehicle and tried the lights, nothing worked properly. The only time any lights came on was when right turn or hazard switches were activated and ALL the lights on trailer came on flashing. Tried the connection on 2 vehicles with same result. Called etrailer and they are sending another connector. Will give update then.

Replacement connector worked. Thanks gor the good customer service.

by:

Great quality for a great price :)

by:

My horse trailer OEM unit was brittle and stiff, after just a few years. This new wire harness from etrailer fixed the problem and was easy to install. It is even a little longer then the OEM, so there is more more room for turning sharp corners.

Still works great. Great connection with the tow vehicle, and still very pliable wires!

The harness is of great quality and well marked for installation.

by:

This umbilical has different gauge wires within it. The heaviest gauge being #10, which should correspond to the brake power supply and ground. It does not. Only one of the two #10 wires corresponds with brakes, the other one is going to a light’s blade on your vehicle’s socket. So all the effort spent on ensuring that you wired your brakes with the required #10 wires is lost when you splice this connector to your trailer. You’ll have #10 positive to your brakes yet the ground will be #12 or #14. Grounds are always the weak link in 12 volt electrics.

by:

As always, I got exactly what I ordered, on time without any glitches. Etrailer are my go to guys for all my trailer accessories. Great company to do business with.

  • Converting From Surge Brakes to Electric Brakes on 2012 K-Z Spree Travel Trailer
We can start with the over-under conversion kit since that is pretty simple. Since you have a 2-3/8" axle you will need the Dexter # K71-384-00. This will allow you to mount the leaf springs on top of the axle on your 2012 K-Z Spree. Moving on to the brakes, I'm assuming with your 2-3/8" axle that you have 3,500 lb axles. Make sure to verify this information. Assuming that is the case, you will need the following: -Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand...

When installing this harness I recommend using a wiring junction box like part # 38656. I have attached a link to an installation video for the junction box and also a helpful article on wiring you can check out. We do have a way for you to add a 7-Way connector in the bed of your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500. The Curt Wiring Kit # C56000 tees right into the back of your current 7-Way via the US CAR connection and then gives you a 10' lead to route the wiring up to the front of your bed. This uses the standard 7-Way pinout so if you're using this with a Lance in-bed camper (which is typically the case) you'll want to cut off their connector and install the Hopkins # H20043 in it's place - being sure...

I have a solution for you, and it sounds like you're maybe looking for some sort of plug and play option that you can use as an extender into the junction box, but that does not exist. Your best bet is just to cut the plug on your trailer off and wire the loose wires directly into the junction box; you'll then run a new plug out of the junction box to add the new trailer wiring plug. Lance decided to be unique and come up with their own plug which can be pretty frustrating. According to my research the reverse light function should be the pin in the 11 o'clock position when you're looing at the camper end plug head-on. Normally we recommend just replacing the Lance 6-Way plug with an industry standard 7-Way plug like the Hopkins # H20043 and then using an in-bed 7-Way for your truck, like the Mighty Cord # A10-7010, so everything is easier to relate to standard 7-Way...

Hopkins does a very good job of constructing their molded 7-way trailer connector pigtails for durability, I can highly recommend part # H20044, which is 6 feet long. The best way to connect this to existing wiring is to use a junction box like # 3375601101. Typically 7-way connectors already have combined stoplight circuits so all you would need is an adapter like part # PK12716.
