The Trail Rider platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 1 or 2 bicycles on the rear of your vehicle. This versatile rack is easy to use and it features locking frame hooks and adjustable wheel hoops, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. The included adapter sleeve enables the rack to fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. A locking, anti-rattle hitch pin tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver.
Locking, Ratcheting Hooks
Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Trail Rider uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning the rack can carry 2 bikes of the same or different heights.
Adjustable Wheel Holders
The wheel holders accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60", and you can adjust the wheel hoops by sliding them along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the holders.
If you want to carry a fat bike on the Trail Rider, you can replace the rack's wheel hoops with specifically-designed fat bike cradles (HRSPRWH-F-HD - sold separately).
Folding Design
The Sport Rider's folding design makes it easy to store your bike rack. Simply fold up the arms for compact storage.
Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin
The Trail Rider easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and then tighten it down with the included tool. The pin also works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.
A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.
Add-On Adapters
If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or smaller wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.
If you want to transport 1 recumbent delta trike or 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Trail Rider, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately).

I got this for use with two full-fender bikes, and I'm very pleased with it. The value is excellent. Assembly was straightforward. It's easy to adjust the wheel trays for your bikes, and very simple to use once adjusted. There's no shortage of pictures of this rack on cars, but one of my concerns was where to store my rack when it's not on my car, and the fold-up aspect of this rack made it one of my top choices. Pictured is the rack in the corner of my garage; I intend to install a low profile hook in the wall to hang it from, but it balances nicely (bottom heavy) on the slab. The lumber is 2x3, not 2x4, for scale.1228729
I was impressed with this bike rack from the minute I unpacked it. The assembly was simple & straight forward. I looked at quite a few bike racks & for the price point this product was hard to beat. It is well designed & the keyhole pins make it easy to remove & fold up when not carrying the bikes. The locking hitch pin & locking frame bars are convenient and fairly secure. I will add my cable lock to make the bikes even a little more tamper proof. So far I’m very happy with this his purchase. Now the test of time!830270
This rack has served me very well over the past year. It is hard to beat for the money. I use it year round to carry my fat tire bike through the tough winters of Erie, Pa. with no issues. Good product.

We are very happy with this bike rack. The rack is very sturdy and we love the locking bolt that keeps the rack from moving within the hitch receiver. The ratcheting locking hooks that keep each bike secured work great too. The rack folds up nicely as well. We use the rack on the back of our pickup truck and the back of our fifth wheel trailer and it works perfectly on both. I would highly recommend this product.1287643

Perfect bike rack for two bikes - packaged professionally for ease of assembly. Extremely easy to swap on and off the hitch. Bikes go on the rack securely and without any complicated lifting. Stores in garage or bike shed using little space. Lightweight to carry.1297893

I needed a rack to carry 2 e-bikes weighing 35 lbs. each. While some tray or platform racks have a greater weight capacity, they also cost hundreds of dollars more than this Hollywood rack. This rack was delivered in just 2 days and was easy to set up. It weighs less than my old hanging style Hollywood rack and it is easy to use. The locking anti-rattle hitch works perfect. The padded locking clamps hold the bikes securely while protecting the finish of the paint. This rack is exactly what I needed, and etrailer was wonderful to deal with!914999
This is a great bike rack at a very reasonable price. It’s also one of the few Class 1 racks with a fairly high weight capacity. I use it to carry 2 ebikes that are on the lighter side at 42 lbs each with the battery removed. It’s very solid, easy to install and doesn’t wobble or shake on the road. Honestly it does everything I want in a 2-bike rack at less than half the price of the “boutique” brands which leaves me more money to spend on my other hobbies! Needless to say, I’m very happy with this purchase.1281282

The wheel loops are too narrow (close together) to fit the Hollywood Racks small wheel adapter.1277880

You mentioned that the wheel hoops were too narrow for the small wheel adapters. I reached out to Hollywood Racks and the wheel adapter that you need is part # HLY24FR Small Wheel Hoop Adapter for Hollywood Racks Universal Wheel Holders - Qty 1 $19.99.

We ordered a bike rack from e-trailer. The bike rack was on back order. Once the rack was received. We received an email stating when the rack was being shipped. We received our bike rack 4 days later. We are very happy with our purchase.1033355
Sturdy, easy to fold and store with able ability to customize for each bike. Secures and releases each bike with ease. Good length although I've added a CURT 7" extension to give easier access to the trunk. Minimal side to side sway when driving. Very happy with this rack.876292

I assembled the bike rack the evening it got it. The instructions along with your online video were great tools to get it built ind install on my Nissan Frontier pickup. I drove 20 miles today and the rack held my bike secure. I have heard some stories about weather affecting the rack if you leave it in the elements which makes sense to me. After using it today I detached it from my truck and stored it in my garage out of the elements. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this bike rack. It is very beefed up and sturdy. I have ordered from etrailer before and customer service has always been excellent. The box came to me undamaged and packed very well. All parts were present. Totally happy experience.

The Hollywood rack has been a great purchase. We are enjoying biking more than ever with the ease and security from using this rack. The locking mounts and hitch connection along with amount of weight allowed on the rack has been a plus.1245445

My experience with etrailer.com couldn't have been better. First, there was a great YouTube video about the Hollywood bike rack that I was purchasing. Then the order was shipped promptly and arrived in just a few days. The packaging was solid and the rack arrived in perfect condition. The price was very good also. I would highly recommend etrailer.com based on my experience. I tested the rack on my 2020 Subaru Forester with 1 1/4 inch hitch receiver with our two bicycles and it worked just fine.777572

The rack is very well made and very complete, the only nock is that it moves a lot, meaning... The part where it hooks to the hitch has a little play because it's not a snug enough fit so when you put the bikes on the rack they rock from side to side just a little, it's secure and not going to fall but it's just little unnerving.
I went ahead and got the strap that etrailer suggested when I added the rack to my cart and with that now it's perfect! I just wish it came with the rack since it makes such a big difference.
Very happy with this purchase although the original assembly came with a dysfunctional lock on one of the hooks. I called and described the problem and was promptly sent a new pair that worked as intended. Great customer service! Also bought a hitch that mounted easily to my Murano using the video provided by etrailer. One year of long and short trips and still very happy with the purchase and the follow up. 782522

1YR Review:
The rack serves it main purpose: transporting your bike safely.
The rack also serves another purpose: destroying the paint job on your bike's top tube (even after adding additional layers of padding to the rack arm and to the bike).1226082

This is a sturdy but easy to use trailer for our two bikes. I have complete confidence in mounting the bikes and strapping them down with minimal handling. While going over bumps, the bikes are tightly secured and going nowhere. Couple of things. The trailer hitch does stick out quite far from Honda 2010 Fit. There is a small offset for where one of the bikes sticks out to the side, but I have a tiny car. These are minor issues tho. It's a great unit and I highly recommend it to anybody. Plus the company is excellent and customer service is on point.858374

Does exactly what I purchased it for, to get bikes to and from local bike store for annual tune ups or necessary maintenance. This rack is very easy to mount/unmount and it’s operation is very intuitive. While I’ve only travelled a few miles with it hauling two bikes at a time, it seems it would hold up for a much longer journey. At first I worried about bumps and stopping/starting, but after about 10-16 trips, I don’t even worry about it anymore. Never had one issue with bikes or hitch coming loose. I would definitely buy again.1191579

I’ve been using the rack for a year. Went from IL to FL and back, plus many other local trips with no problems. Make sure the lock is fully engaged/locked so you don’t loose the lock as I did. Easy to attach and lock in the bikes. It’s a good rack and you get what you pay for.1230286

I've been using this bike rack for over a year now and I love it. I only carry one bike so I leave off the farthest rack to make it a little more compact. Some minor rust spots popped up pretty shortly after using it around the holes for the steel pegs that allow the tire holders to fold up and down. Nothing to worry about though as it was just minor surface rust where the steel peg actually makes contact with the hole and it never went past the circumference of the hole. There is really nothing that the manufacturer could do to stop that as any coating they put on there would get rubbed off by inserting and removing the steel peg over and over, or even just from it vibrating inside the hole. A few months ago I did have to spray some lock lube into the lock as it was getting tough to press in to slide the top arm up and down, but again that is normal since it's out in the weather. The only other thing I would mention is that when a bike is installed (in the closest position to the trunk) I'm unable to open my trunk as the handlebars are in the way. Again, that is to be expected and I'm pretty sure most other cars will have the same issue. I don't mind as I like the bike to be as close as possible to the car without touching it which is how this bike rack is set up. I use the bike rack at least twice a week and I would definitely recommend it without hesitation. I've included a couple of pictures - one right after I installed it (over a year ago) and one from today.860433
We actually had this bike carrier delivered to a planned two-day stop (a family friend) in the middle of a two month tour of the U.S. It arrived well packed in a sturdy box with all the essential pieces-parts included. I put the rack on the next morning in less than 30 minutes using the basic hand tools (mainly a crescent wrench & screwdriver, as I remember) that anyone would have on such a trip.
This rack replaced one (reputable brand) that we had started the trip with, but had proven unable to safely hold my wife’s new bike which had a non-traditional geometry and flat-oval top tube. Between the padded clamp that pushes down (gently) over the bike’s top tube and the weight of the bike being held from below by the wheel loops, I believe it would hold just about any bike securely, for any distance. Cannot think of anything I would change or improve on this carrier.828841

This is a decent bike rack for the price and it might be more stable with the 1-1/4" hitch, but there is a lot of movement with the 2" hitch. I'm looking to see if there's a way to stabilize it a bit more. If I can get it to be less wobbly, then I will update the rating to 4 stars.1136837

If you have already switched the inch and a quarter adapter over to the 2 inch side and it is still wobbling, you can use a U-Bolt style anti-rattle device to make it more stable: Item # e99007.

I waited to review the rack until I had used it a few times. For the past year I have been using a rack that 1) strapped to my car, and 2) my bike hung from. It was a very old car, so I did not mind that it made minor dents in the body, but it also rubbed paint from the frame of my bike. I bought a jeep with a trailer hitch, thus wanted to try a platform rack like this one. This product is awesome. Velcro straps hold the wheels snuggly in place. The curved bar primarily is for keeping the bike from moving horizontally...in fact the company warns you not to press down too hard. I have driven on interstate highways, parking lots, and everything in between, and the rack has been solid. It is easy to install and remove. It is easy to load and unload bikes. I intend to never return to a hanging bike rack.1149746

Assembles without too much difficulty. Use metric wrenches. Velcro straps are too short to use with wide tires. When installing the wheel carriers, have rubber mallet handy and put small amount of anti seize lubricant on threads of the knobs that tighten wheel carrier to unit's frame. I used anti seize on any bolt or screw I installed.765054

Actually my boss here at etrailer has used the Hollywood Rack part # HR200Z and he really likes it. For the money you really can't beat it. It is built like a tank and is easy to use. The only downside to it's sturdiness is that it is a bit on the heavier side at 39 lbs. He described this rack basically as a workhorse that just gets the job done. It may not be the flashiest rack on the market but it does it's job very well.

The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z measures 12-1/8 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest point on the rack. So it will most likely clear the front end of your F-250 but that will depend on the exact year of your truck. The clearance will also depend on the bike that is being carried because the pedals and handlebars will be closer to the truck than the rack will. view full answer...

If you are concerned with clearance between the bike rack and vehicle, the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z or the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HR1000Z would be the two you want to look at. I have a solution for, but since you have recumbent bikes you would not want the part # HR200Z. Instead you would want the Hollywood Racks Bike Rack for Recumbents part # HR1450Z-R. As long as your wheelbase is less than 74 inches and the tires are less than 3 inches wide this rack would fit and work well with your recumbent bikes.
This rack also has a 45 lb per bike capacity so you would need to be sure your bikes weigh less than that. view full answer...
The Hollywood Racks TrailRider part # HR200Z that you referenced is a great choice for you. Since your bikes have baskets on the front and rear wheels you'd need to go with a bike rack that holds the vehicle by the crosstube of the frame. For that the best option would be a platform hitch bike rack like the Hollywood Racks # HR200Z which would do a great job. This fits 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch trailer hitches so it would be a very versatile and sturdy option. view full answer...
Yakima strongly states not to use the StickUp Bike Carrier with a hitch extender. Although this rack is not terribly heavy, a hitch extender would place it far enough away from the receiver that the leverage applied could damage the bike carrier or the receiver. You could most likely use the rack itself without an extender, but your spare tire would prevent you from folding the carrier.
I would recommend going with a bike rack with a longer shank on it that would clear your spare tire.... view full answer...
We do not have any class I cargo carriers with adapters for bike racks. We do have a bike rack # HR200Z. This bike rack weighs 39 lbs. When using the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 Bike Platform Rack # HR200Z the manufacturer recommend loading a single bike to the inside because it is a more stable position.
