Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 240 raw lumen capacity and produces 168 effective lumens.

Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Opti-Brite LED dome light for trailers. This is going to be a great replacement for your factory lights, whether they not be bright enough for you, or if you want to add additional lighting to your trailer. So maybe your trailer has those incandescent bulbs already and you want to switch over to LEDs because you want their bulbs to last longer, you want them to burn brighter, and you want them to draw less power so that you can add more light. This is going to be a great option. The lights are going to have a sturdy chrome plated steel base, so that chrome is going to give it a nice stylish look, while the steel is going to give it a nice strong base so that it lasts for a long time. What I like about these lights is they're going to have a nice large polycarbonate lens that's going to be clear, so it's going to give you a nice clear white light down in your trailer. The lights are going to have a flush mount design, so they're going to mount nice and flat up against whatever you're wanting to mount them on. You have the option to mount them on your ceiling like we did here or on the wall. Now personally, the thing that I like most about these lights is that when I'm working in a trailer or if I need to just see to be able to unload something out of the trailer, I don't want it to be crazy spotlight bright in here.
These lights are going to have a 2 diode LED and they're going to have 240 lumen light, each one of them, so it's not going to be crazy bright, but it's going to give you more than enough light to be able to see what you're doing. The light is going to have a total diameter of 6-7/16" wide and it's going to have a nice low profile design and it's going to come in at 1-5/8". Something to keep in mind is that we did use six of these lights in our trailer, which is where we're getting our light from. If you are looking to just pick up one light, we do have brighter options available. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's go ahead and show you how easy they are to get installed. Now we can go ahead and get our first light in place. You can see here is our factory light.
We only have that one light in our 20' trailer here, so we'll go ahead and get our light in place. You're going to want to decide where you're going to want to put it. We're going to put ours up on these rails, so that'll mean we're only going to be using two of the four holes, or you could put it on the sidewall and just run your wires through the wall if you want more of a indirect light. So we'll go ahead and get ours in place up here. You can see we've made a mark 24" off the sidewall. You're going to need to choose where you're putting your lights. We're putting six lights up in on trailer, so we have them all evenly spaced throughout the trailer.
I'll go ahead and line our center hole up and we put in our first screw. Now these lights do not come with the screws, so you will have to provide your own hardware. Now we have six lights going up in this trailer today, so we're going to go ahead and get our other five lights mounted and then we'll start wiring. Now that we've got our lights all hung up in place where we want them, we can go ahead and splice into the power wire that we already have in place for our original light. Now if you are running a new line, you'll need to run this to the positive on your battery, and then you'll want to ground each of the lights. Let me go ahead and do that now.Put on a butt connector. We're using heat shrink butt connectors just so we have an extra safety precaution.
Then we splice our wire into our existing power wire, running it back together. Then we can crimp it. After you get your power hooked up you'll want to ground your ground wire to someplace on the frame. We're just going to use a self-tapping screw and screw it into our frame rail. We'll go ahead and take our self-tapping screw and install it up and out of the way. There we go.Now that we've got that in place, we can go ahead and test out our light. Go ahead and flip on our light switch and we see that it's working. Now we can go ahead and get the rest of our lights wired up. Once you have all your wires tucked up and out of the way, that will complete your install. With all that being said, that's going to do it for a look and installation of the Opti-Brite LED dome light for trailers.

6-7/16" Diameter round. LED Dome light illuminates your trailer's interior with bright white light. Sturdy, chrome-plated steel base. Surface mount with built-in flange - hardware not included. 2-Wire design. 2 Diodes. The lighting in my cargo trailer contained 4 incandescent fixtures that had burned out bulbs most of the time. They never were really bright even when all worked. I took this pair of photos at night so you can see the difference. The LED lights burn cooler, use less of my storage battery charge, and the bouncing of the highway won't harm them. Well worth the price and an easy installation.
Great replacement for the incandescent bulb lights for the engine compartment of our boat. Easy to install and a clean white light
We used these in our vintage airstream renovation. The fit the hole perfectly and were easy to install.
Great product, very simple install, much brighter than regular cargo trailer lights. Very Fast delivery, nice folks!!!
Plug and Play replacement for Workhorse P42 (Morgan Olson) cab light. I wanted to decrease the power consumption on battery. It went from 2.2 Amps to 0.35
It's plenty bright enough to illuminate the cab area while saving my batteries to start this antique 396 diesel motor.
Perfect dome light for our just restored 1969 Scotty Sportsman camper. THANKS!
Great product
Thanks this is great service and I can plan on my parts when I need them
These lights stopped working after only a few months in our travel trailer. After my husband checked the wiring and was not able to get them working properly, I contacted etrailer and they said I can ship them back at my expense and they would fix or replace them. A few weeks later 2 new lights were delivered, they are new and the design seems better. So far so good with the second set.
Used two in my cargo trailer and hooked them up to a 12 volt battery that is charged by a 4amp solar panel so I can light up the trailer when disconnected from my truck. They work great and easy to install.
THEY DIDN'T WORK FOR WHAT I HAD INTENDED, BUT I FOUND A VERY GOOD USE FOR THEM ------- I LAY BOTH ON THE FLOOR SHINING UP WHEN I'M CLEANING THE UNDER SIDE OF MY ZERO TURN LAWMOWER, AND WHEN I'M CHANGING BLADES ON IT. THEY LIGHT UP THE WORK AREA VERY GOOD, AND THEY ARE LOW VOLTAGE, BESIDES!!!!!! I HOPE THIS MIGHT GIVE SOME NEAT IDEAS TO YOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS!!!
I used these to retrofit and update a horse trailer. They are brighter than the originals and easy to wire. Plus as always excellent service from etrailer.
I like doing business with etrailer, they have virtually anything I'm looking for. If I have a problem they take of it immediately, and they always follow-up to make sure I'm satisfied. They have restored my faith in customer service. I'm sure I'll be doing business with etrailer for a long time!!!!!!!
Was looking for a low power light just bright enough for us to see while we tore down our race car at the end of the night and these worked perfectly. Installation was easy and they provide a nice, even light.
I needed to have an on/off switch which I didn't notice it was missing. But it looks good and is of good quality.
.great light for the price. As always etrailer is awesome to deal with.
Product was a perfect replacement for the original incandescent lighting in my service truck
Great selection and pricing. Cheap alternative for re-doing my horse trailer. Thank you so much!

Used them in my boat engine compartment and they work great!
Looks good just installing now so I don't know how bright it is at night.
