Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Torflex Lift Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers. Now this is gonna allow you to have that additional clearance between your trailer's axle and the trailer frame. It's going to give you 2 and 7/8 of an inch of additional space. This can be used with side-mounted #11 Torflex axles with capacities from 4,100 pounds up to 6,000 pounds. Or 4,100 pounds to 6,000 pounds. This is going to mount in between that frame and your axle. So it's going to attach to the side-mount brackets on your trailer's frame.
Just note that with this it is not compatible with top mounted torsion axles. You just wanna make sure that that open channel is facing away from that side mounting bracket. This does come with the four frame spacers as you see here. We've got 24 washers, 16 5/8 18 hex screw cap bolts. The bolt length on that is 1 1/2 inches and we're also gonna have the 16 5/8 18 hex lock nuts.Another note with this is that it cannot be used with three inch tall brackets. As far as the dimensions for the bracket itself, again that's going to be 2 7/8 inches tall by 11 inches and it'll be about 2 1/2 inches deep.So that's gonna do it for our look at the Torflex Lift Kit for Tandem Axles..

Lift kit raises your trailer frame by 2-7/8". Kit includes spacers and mounting hardware for tandem axle applications. Compatible with side-mounted #11 Torflex axles with 4,100-6,000-lb capacities.A not so easy modification to our Airstream Classic 33FBT. With the help of a friend, we were able to complete the install in less than 8 hours. The Airstream belly tanks make access a little tougher that your average cargo trailer.
The biggest benefit was having every possible option in wrenches, sockets, crows foot, and tools available. It did require lifting the Airstream and placing it on jack stands, then working one axle at a time.
It is not an easy install, but worth it. The dealer wanted $2500. to complete it. I cost us, the kit and a few meals. I should not one individual will be on their back the whole time, you need one person under it and one at the wheel well.
We did not notice a huge difference in towing, as Airstreams are lower riding anyway, there inches did not make a huge difference in our profile, but made a huge improvement to our approach and departure angles.
Great product, if you have the right tools.
I was really having a hard time getting in and out of gas stations, much less any kind of off-road parking/driving. With the help of one other friend with some multiple jacks, we installed the lift kit on my Globetrotter 27 footer in about two hours complete. It's been a dream ever since. I can go down rough roads and in and out of spots with a bit of a gully to get in with no probs. Thanks etrailer - It's just right!
I ordered this kit in mid-May after seeing an email about it from a competitor site to etrailer.com. I ordered from the other site then got an email stating that the kit was on back order from Dexter until the end of June. I googled the Dexter part number and found that etrailer.com also sold it, and even better, etrailer was offering free freight and a slightly lower cost. Since the kit is heavy, free freight would save me about $40, so I cancelled the order with the first company and re-ordered from etrailer.com. I got an email from them as well about the extended back order but then, I also got a follow up call from them explaining the situation. The call was an extra added touch that I appreciated. Then, right at the end of May, I got an email stating that my Dexter kit had shipped, so I figured that etrailer.com must have put some pressure on Dexter to get off their butt and ship it! The kit itself was great, really well made parts, powder coated and heavy gauge. Honestly, I am surprised that they sell it for only $150. The install is tricky and will take you 6 hours if you are good with tools and like wrenching. Don't attempt this project on your own if you are not. Pay a trailer guy $400 to do it. You have to keep the axles aligned when you drop them...and the bolt placement is not great so you have to have hands that can fit in the tight cramped space and be able to get a wrench on the. Over all, I am very happy with the lift, it was a pretty simple and cost effective way for me to get better clearance for my Airtsream.....Airstreams are notoriously low and with the approach I have from my street to the driveway, I constantly battled dragging either the hitch or the rear. This kit solved that. I am super satisfied and highly recommend it if you are in the same situation as I was. Buy it from etrailer.com, they have the best customer service I have experienced when buying trailer and camping items on the internet.
One of the best purchases I’ve made for my Airstream. Stress over bottoming out in sketchy situations is greatly diminished with the additional 3 inches of lift. I was able to install it myself (with the help of my son-in-law) in about 3 hours total. I don’t have a tandem axle but it was no problem finding a buyer for the second set.
This gave me enough lift that I no longer drag the rear of my trailer when going in or out of my steep driveway. It also buys me some ground clearance for the sewer drain coming from underneath, as this is a cargo trailer I’m converting into a toy hauler camper. It was a simpler job than I expected too! With the trailer connected to the truck, I parked one axle on a set of blocks so that the tires for the other axle would be off the ground. Remove those tires, loosen all 4 bolts on that axle, but don’t remove them yet. Put your Jack under one side of the axle and remove only that side’s bolts. Use the Jack to lower that axle side down enough to get the spacer in, install bolts, and do the other side. Watch the brake wiring! Put the tires back on, park the trailer on the newly lifted axle, and do the other axle. The instructions come with it. It took me 2 hours doing it by myself. Would have taken longer if I would have had “help”!
I had read other reviews about poor quality paint on the product and I was a little worried. When it arrived the paint was fine. Installation wasn’t that hard - my only problem was that my brake wiring was run through the bracket so I had to cut the wire and rewire..
Great product and I would highly recommend.
This is a great upgrade I did to lift my Airstream. The upgrade kit is simple but the actual installation can be awkward, so you should probably do it with a buddy, plan the steps, and take your time to make sure you do it right and avoid potential injury. Make sure the trailer is totally secure with redundant support because you will be working underneath it and you will be torquing bolts in tight spaces. Don't rely on a single jack stand and you'll probably want to use a floor jack to gently lower the axle down once you have unbolted it. Instead of jacking the trailer up, we built two ramps out of stacked 2x8 boards (and plastic ramps) and we backed the trailer rear axle onto the ramps, leaving the front axle free enough to pull the wheels off, then we supported the trailer with jack stands as a safety precaution in addition to the ramps. We kept the trailer hitched so that the tow vehicle would serve as a big brake, keeping the trailer from potentially rolling. We used floor jacks to lower the free axle, installed the new brackets, and then repeated the process for the other axle. btw, this is a good time to check your break lines/wires, as we found one had severed and we repaired it. Make sure you have a torque wrench and make sure you adjust the hitch height if necessary (we did) to match the lift. Depending on your trailer frame and axles, your experience may be different but fitting the brackets and mounting hardware was awkward and tight and required some physical dexterity. Also, when tightening the nuts and bolts to the correct final torque settings, if you are the guy underneath on the inside you'll want to have an "escape plan" for your hand (and wrench). That's it!
Great modification to slightly lift our 2018 Airstream 28QB. The kit was a pain to install - suggest welding some tabs to the bolt heads as there isn't room to hold them with a wrench. Modified several wrenches to get it to stop spinning, but the tabs would have greatly facilitated the job. On our model trailer had to drop the pan under the black and grey water tanks to get the kit installed, modified the pan to fit better than before after the axle lift. Did one axle at a time while driving the other onto boards to lift it. All worked out well, but I can think of more fun ways to spend the day.
We have an '04 Airstream Safari and were concerned about the low hanging tank drain piping. The Dexter Lift Kit has worked out well for us and we would recommend it for folks concerned about clearance with their trailer.
We had to slightly modify the trailer frame because our trailer had Henschel axles, but worth the effort in opinion. Great price and fast shipping from etrailer as well!
This is the second one I have bought. Love that it helps our trailer get a little more ground clearance.
This kit worked great to lift my atc trailer. i needed more rear ground clearance.
The added height was just enough.
The kit does move the axle about a quarter inch ,
I think this is the difference between the side mount holes and the top holes in the #11 axle
Shipping was fast as usual with etrailer
Thank you
These worked great. Installed yesterday, took about two hours, and put 300 miles on it today. Love not dragging the tail in and out of parking lots. No change in ride dynamics once the hitch is also adjusted the 3 inches. Single axle so have two left over for sale, cheap.
They were really hard to install on my 28’ Airstream, really hard. But they do the job and I am glad to have them.
I love this product and the lift it gave my torsion axle equipped cargo trailer, which was basically a "low rider" and would occasionally drag the tail on step gas station entrances, etc. I installed it myself. It was time consuming and require multiple jacks and jack stands to accomplish it, but anyone that's mechanically inclined and also has a torque wrench can accomplish it.
Simple and effective. Airstream should include these on all their trailers. My only small complaint is that these should be better painted or powder coated. That’s easily addressed with a can of spray paint.
I have ordered several items from them but this time my item got messed up and they had the most awesome customer service. They not only helped me get the right part and was certain it would be delivered in time, they also helped me with my return of the incorrect part. They will always be my go to for my horse trailers
Used this kit to raise my Airstream 22FB by nearly 3 inches. That doesn't seem like much, but makes a world of difference in towing. Instructions for installation are very clear. Kit contains all the necessary pieces. As always the folks at etrailer are great to work with.
Took them to our local Airstream dealer who put them on for us. They have helped tremendously with our 22FB Sport that was sitting pretty low.
Good kit, install straight forward, installed on an Airstream Flying Cloud 23D 2017. I needed to move the shock absorbers to install, then put them back on. I also needed to relocate a gas line that went to the water heater, as it was run through a gap in the axel mounting plate.
Would have given it 4 stars but they shorted me one washer. I reused a washer from the old hardware.
Ordered the Lift kit for my 2007 30' Airstream in order to prevent back of trailer from dragging going up and down my driveway. Have not had parts installed yet. My only disappointment with these parts is the poor quality of paint that was applied. I will either repaint them myself, or have them powder coated prior to installation.
Lift Kit was delivered only 3 days after ordering! At Christmas time no less! Kit was as others have said paint is thin and not adhered. I have fixed that. The great thing about this transaction was Lori. The dealer where I bought my trailer suggested I call Dexter to confirm which of their axels were under my trailer and gave me a name in Dexters Customer Service Dept. She was absolutely no help what so ever. I had already been thru their web site. When I called E-trailer and talked to Lori she said heck you already know everything but this. "Axel # 11". She knew more about Dexter than they do. A 15 minute conversation with Dexter and 0 assistance. 4 minutes with Lori and parts are ordered. THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Thank you Lori!!
Raised the trailer almost 3 inches gives more clearance on steep driveway approaches
Super fast delivery! Great product
This is a must upgrade for an Airstream trailer. End dragging the bottom on the ground. It is possible to DIY with some mechanical skills, or get a professional to install.
Box was in rough shape upon arrival but everything was there…
