Integrated motor kit upgrades the motor on Kwikee electric RV entry steps manufactured before 1999. Improved, fully-sealed gearbox has zinc-plated linkage and a high-torque motor. Includes control unit, switch kit, and hardware. This upgrade kit had enough torque to completely lift the stairs on my 2004 Bigfoot 3000MH24SL - the other upgrade kit, LC29VR, did not. It works great now. The only difference is the old steps “off” switch, to keep the stairs extended with opening and close the door, was an open circuit for “off” - new controls are an open circuit for “on”. I just reversed and relabeled the switch in the RV so it works as original.
Been lated up, it has prevented me from installing the upgrade.
Now I have time and can install it and give a fair review.
Needed the motor and controller to get my old RV steps working again. The kit was easy to use by removing the old parts and replacing with the new parts in less than 30 minutes. Totally happy with the results, working steps at less cost than replacing the full step package. Etrailer has been my “go to” for this and a Receiver package in the past. Their videos helped in determining the “do it yourself” level of effort and provided confidence in getting the installations done easily and correctly. Thanks!
Simple swap!
Almost a plug and play item except for having to connect the new plug end via wire connectors.
You do have to switch the wires on the magnetic door sensor too.
Works better than the original!
I have a 40 series step that was getting unreliable.
I replaced the controller and motor \ gearbox with the LC379145 kit.
The old harness plug was changed to the new one.
The only thing I had to supply was a few butt connectors and zip ties.
Everything bolted up and works just like it is supposed to.
This motor upgrade kit for Kwikee Eletric RV Steps was very easy to replace the existing motor and parts. This has been working great for us. I would recommend this kit to anyone that wants to up grade or replace a tired and older unit. It took about 15-20 minutes to change.
The first one the pin holding step sheared and burned up motor just out of warrantee ! The 2nd one lesson learned a washer behind pin has been working great !
Great service from ETrailer but, no service with UPS . UPS doesn’t deliver on Saturday.
I ordered 3 day delivery and received my package in 7 days .
I will change my delivery service to FED-EX GROUND 6 day delivery.
This delayed cost me $132.00 and wasted day of my vacation.

After talking to ETrailer they recommended the exact upgrade kit I needed for my older 2002 Monaco Windsor. It wasn't difficult to install and I'm very happy with the Kwikee upgrade kit. I was really impressed, because ETrailer's price were cheaper than Kwikee's. In fact, the people at Kwikee recommended I order it from ETrailer.
Fixed the problem
Excellent parts, very good pricing.
VERY EASY install, I lengthened the mag door switch leads to clean up the wiring, making future maint. easier. Operational checks as advertised. Wiring diagrams and tech data also VERY helpfull. Quiet, Smooth operation. Had been experiencing intermittent operation and occasional gear box lockup with our unit.
This part was fir a Tiffin Phaeton with what appeared to be a bad motor. Tiffin sent me a new motor but it did not correct problem. After s3veral calls to both Tiffin and etrailer and at etrailers suggestion I ordered everything (all parts) but with a different part numbers. Thisfixed problem and now worke great and is quieter than when it was new.
Thanks great job
I have a 1999 Fleetwood Flair with the original model 32 Kwikee step. Through neglect, the steps began jamming and the stripped the gear in the gearbox. I originally purchased the replacement gear box (Item # LC379160) and upon receipt discovered it was not compatible with my old motor. This conversion/upgrade kit was my next purchase. etrailer paid for the return shipping of the incorrect linkage and I ordered this kit. It was required that I replace the 4 way harness with the upgraded model. This will require some heat-shrink connectors and zip ties to tidy things. After install the steps worked perfect in opposite until I replaced the included door magnet and removed my own. They looked the same but are different. Again, you'll need some heat-shrink connectors for this.
I had several calls from and to Michelle, who took it upon herself to double check whether the replacement Kwikee step motor/operator assembly would work in an older coach, as the literature said '99 and newer, while our coach is a '95 Monaco.
The old unit died a natural death after 22 years, but Michelle was so certain it would work she advised if it did not, they would take it back!
Our Model 40 steps now work better than ever, and we have had the coach 17 years-perfectly smooth and quiet, and the replacement took about two hours, total. You must replace the door switch, but that was included, as were clear instructions.
Thank you Michelle, as the manufacturer suggested that I buy an entire step assembly, as "I had gotten my money's worth out of the old unit". I am continuing to, thanks to you.
Best customer service and appreciative. Highly recommend
Great replacement for our 1994 Winnebago Chieftain double steps which were slow and hardly worked, would have to hit with a hammer to get it to open! This kit fit perfectly! The assembly was basically a bolt on. It came with magnetic door switches which had to replace the old switches and the replacement wiring harness that came with weather pack connections instead of the old molded rubber plugs made it a nice clean install. Now the steps open quick and quietly. Thanks!
I have a 2004 National Dolphin and the (2 steps) steps stopped working. I could hear a click in the control box when opening the door. Decided to replace both the control box and the motor because of aging. This kit was a perfect replacement and easy to install and no need to orient the steps. The control box only uses 3 of the 4 existing screw holes and a the 4th hole is used for a ground. The override works as it should and steps close when you start the engine. Smooth and quiet operation, very pleased with this kit!
Took about 20 mins to install 2002 holiday rambler endeavor 38.9
On a scale of 1 to 10, the Lippert Components Kwikee Step Motor Conversion/Upgrade Kit is an 11. It was basically a plug and play unit. The wiring is color coded and matched the existing on my 2001 Challenger Motor Home. I would, however, recommend reading the instructions. They state you may have to install the new door magnet for the unit to operate, which was my case. But again, it was wired and color coded. Very happy with this product. It works perfectly !!!
Customer service was top notch. I bought the whole upgrade kit which installed easily. I however thought I could get away with using existing door switch which made everything run backwards. Once I figured it out and installed new switch everything works perfect.
I was grateful Kwikee took back a first order that didn't work and sent me one that did. The steps in my Beaver motorhome have been working perfectly since I installed the new kit. Thank you for the corrected and quick service.
E-Trailer is certainly in the 21st century! Ordered the item Saturday afternoon and received three days later on Tuesday afternoon Excellent service guys!!!!
It works great.
