Will Lippert SolidSteps Work for You?
Fold-down steps are typically installed on travel trailers and some RVs. The fold-down steps from Lippert lift up to latch into your camper's doorway for storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Lippert SolidSteps install inside your camper's doorframe. Measuring for this may seem tricky, but once you know what to look for, figuring out the right fit for your RV doorway is easy.
Measure between the door frame flanges - the doorway width - to determine the step size that will fit into your camper's doorway. You will need a doorway that is at least 25" wide to 28-7/8" wide for these steps to work.
If it turns out you have a wider or narrower doorway, there are other step assemblies that fit doorways ranging from 24" wide to 36" wide. A full list of the available steps is below.
To make sure your doors will close when the steps are installed, measure from the top of the threshold plate to the bottom of the door. You will need a gap of about 1/4" to 3/8" to allow the door to close over the step's mounting plate.
The doorway threshold will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.
The chart below displays doorway width measurements in the first column. If you determined you have an entry height between 22" and 28", the step part numbers that fit that height are in the second column. If you determined your entry height is between 27" and 36", the step part numbers that fit that height are in the third column. If you determined your entry height is between 35" and 44", the step part numbers that fit that height are in the fourth column. Choose the doorway width that is closest to your measurements without going over.
This page's step assembly is in bold text.

These steps are a big Improvement to our toy hauler easy to install less than 10 minutes all you need is a battery-powered drill and a 7/16 wrench these was installed in a 2019 momentum toy hauler in the garage highly recommended steps for any 5th wheel1262372
Excellent product ! Install was a breeze! Only problem was the screen door clearance, our 5th wheel is a 2010 and just a little trim and all is good!1216115
Lippert Solid Step was a great addition to our 5th wheel. Perfect fit, easy to install. Going to order the gas strut assist kit next! Thanks Etrailer Crew!1291091

The packages came on the date anticapated and in good condition. Although both packages had been opened and poorly retaped shut. The installation instruction were clear and well written. Installation was easy. I did need to make minor alterations to the exiting threshold to make it fit. The steps are solid, work on a variety of grades and makes it much safer to get in and out of our 5th wheel.1120191
I purchased these steps to allow my wife who has had both hips replaced an easier time getting in and out of our RV. I modified the steps to create a 5 inch rise on each step. It has worked out great for her. (and me too). It would be great of you could offer a product that already had 5 inch rise steps. There are a lot of folks like us that would like them915078
These steps were easy to install and we feel much safer going in and out of the camper. I would recommend them to anyone.1279260

Installed in my 2009 Heartland Landmark. Easy peezy to install. Only complaint is the box was so tore up in shipping that none of the bag of hardware was included so had to run to Lowe's for the 8 #10 1.5" screws (bought stainless steel to prevent rust). Also.....the threshold of the stairs stuck up too high for the door to shut so I had to do some sledge hammer adjusting (put a towel over the threshold while pounding as not to scratch the pretty flat black paint)1010456
these stairs were recommended by Lippert since the overall opening is 28" on my trailer. They are only 20' wide. The doorway is 28" wide The stairs are very narrow at 20"wide. I think the 24" wide stairs would be a more appropriate fit.1205250

I see in past emails on your account our rep recommended item # LC791575 SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps for 29" to 36" Wide RV Door Frames - Quad - Aluminum $542.06 which is the 24 inch wide step. I believe Lippert may have recommended this 20 inch one to you because the other was out of stock for a few weeks.
Called etrailer and was connected to Stacey for my order. She confirmed I was ordering the correct part, and the order was placed. Two and a half hours later I received an email telling me my order was shipped. Can’t do much better than that. Four days later I received the Lippert steps. Opened the box and all the needed parts and instructions were inside. Also the steps were in perfect condition. Thank you, Stacy, and etrailer.

I PURCHASED THESE STEPS BECAUSE I FEEL THE ORIGINAL STEPS ARE FLIMSY, WHEN I RECEIVED THEM I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO WORK TAKING LESS THAN A HOUR TO INSTALL THEM. THEY ARE SOLID AS A ROCK AND I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEM I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO REPLACE FLOP OUT STEPS THAT WERE INSTALLED FROM FACTORY1220123

We like the solid feel of the Lippert steps. We no longer have the bounce or spring feel of the steps that were installed by the manufacturer. The only difficulty I had was at a camp ground where the concrete patio was too high and I couldn't adjust the steps so the door would close. I put 2 X 10s under the tires and it raised the 5th wheel high enough for the steps to work properly.1115916

First let me say that dealing with the folks at etrailer.com is excellent! They are very helpful, friendly, and more than willing to help. If not for the following issues I would have rated five stars.
Now for the steps, box was destroyed, holes all over it, large cardboard patches had been stapled over the largest holes and I had no problem getting into the box. After cutting a few pieces of packing tape the box practically fell apart.
Both pins to secure the legs were missing but one phone call to etrailer and replacement pins were mailed out.
Both sides of the bottom step frame were bent but I can bend them back in place. Fortunately the damage is at the bottom and not very noticeable.
Installation was easy and took about an hour and only because I had to file down part of the campers threshold.
Steps are solid and the wife says its the best upgrade we have done to the camper.644324

We bought the SolidStep to replace our broken fold out steps. They work well and are very stable as long as you’re on level ground. When we stop for a break or just need to grab something from the trailer and you’re not on level ground, you have to adjust the leg extensions out and-or get some blocks to put under the leg extensions. Both legs must touch the ground. If you don’t do this, the mounting plate, brackets or the steps can bend or can pull the mounts loose and If you’re in a hurry to get inside, rain etc. it can take longer to get in. Had we known what we know now we would have gone back with the 4 step fold outs. I’m sure these steps work well for some but not us.1008962
