Automatic Rain Sensor

MaxxFan Plus Rain Sensor

The MaxxFan Plus has a rain sensor that detects when it starts to rain or snow. The sensor then automatically closes the roof vent and shuts the fan off, preventing the interior of your RV or trailer from getting wet. This allows you to leave your vent open and running without having to worry about the weather. Once the sensor has dried, you'll be able to open the vent and turn the fan back on. To deactivate the rain sensor, press the rain sensor button on the keypad.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Remote Control and Keypad

Remote for MaxxFan Plus

The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.

Keypad for MaxxFan Plus

Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat. The rain sensor can only be activated or deactivated from the keypad.

Powered-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Plus Dual Arms

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

This powered-lift dome opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

The dome has a sensor that will automatically shut off the lift motor when an obstruction is encountered or when the dome reaches the end of its travel. So, for example, if the dome cannot open all the way under your vent cover, a sensor will stop the dome once it has opened as far as it can.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

I purchased 2 MaxxAir fans about a year ago & I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! My husband and I installed them ourselves, which was a bit of a task but still doable. Removing the old adhesive before installing the new fan was the hardest part. They aren't cheap, so I was a little hesitate before buying, but they have proven to be worth every penny! I'm actually on a cross country road trip right now, using these wonderful fans everyday since I hit the road in August. They're great for blowing out the hot air after a hot day, cooling off the rv when it gets a bit too warm inside or when you just need a little circulation. The rain sensors are so incredibly helpful and work great! The lids are a bit noisy when they open and close, but once the lid stops moving, the fan isn't that distracting at all, especially on the lower settings. I highly recommend the MaxxAir Fans!

Comments
Under 2 years old & both fans started giving us major problems. One fan regularly scream, flashes & shuts off for no reason, & the rain sensor stopped working yes I clean it, causing a terrible rain flood in my RV. The other fan will not run at all, it just screams & closes instantly. Ive called MaxxAir several times, was told twice they were going to send replacement parts & nothing ever arrived. I am no longer a happy customer & would never recommend MaxxAir Fans to anyone. Their product & customer service has failed me.

So far so good. The fan arrived on time, and despite being shipped without the benefit of an outer box, there was no damage to the fan. The installation instructions were clear, and the installation was not overly complicated. The fan itself is very quiet, allows a good amount of light in, and swiftly pulls heat and presumably propane exhaust up and out of the kitchen. It’s a huge improvement for our 2011 Keystone Raptor both in terms of safety and convenience. The materials and construction of the fan appear to be of high quality, but time will tell how well it will hold up to daily use and occasional travel.

I installed this in my 1999 Ford E350 ambulance-to-camper conversion last year. Absolutely phenomenal product! We are both light sleepers, and the fan is right over the bed, but on the three lowest settings it is virtually silent, yet still moves enough air to provide a nice, cooling breeze. On high it really moves some air, and being reversible and having 10 speeds you can pretty much have whatever you want. I bought two, but only used one. When a buddy saw how well mine worked, and found out I had another one, he bought it from me at full price. It has a remote control in addition to the controls on the fan, and a manual "crank" in case you lose battery power. Oh yeah, the rain sensor works too!

I watch a youtube channel called "Big Truck Big RV." You sponsor this channel. This person speaks very highly of your company. I know he is compensated to, but he always gives his honest opinion. I respect his opinion and when I need to replace a faulty MAXX Air Fan, I decided to look at etrailer. The price seemed fair. It was pulled from the warehouse, shipped, and received within days. I have not opened the fan yet because I am waiting for a time when I can install it. I have confidence that if I have any issue that etrailer will help me. I am looking forward to working more with your company.

I ordered and installed a MaxxAir 4500K Vent fan to install in our cabover area of our Class C motorhome from Etrailer.com . This is the second one we installed, the first one in the RV bathroom is still working great after about 1 years time. Reason I installed a 2nd one is so we can have one fan exhaust air while the other fan pulls air into the RV and thereby create a wind tunnel through the RV so we can close and lock the windows but still cool the RV in moderately warm weather when we want to leave the dog in the RV and go somewhere with everything locked up. I chose Etrailer for this purchase because they had a good price and they show MaxxAir as one of their partner brands and state the fan has a 2 year manufacture warranty right on the page where it is listed. The fan was shipped quickly and I was pleased it wasn't old stock, the model label on the fan showed 2018 manufactured. I also bought a Maxx II cover for it.

I love etrailer about 90% of the time. The other 10% is when I attempted to order keyed alike locks. It all ended ok but was a pain. In any case this is a review about a maxxfan 4500k. Let me just start by saying etrailers price was $125 higher than a competitors and they were willing to price match it. So a solid A+ on price matching. The box came just as it would if you bought it off the shelf. No additional packaging which is fine. I’ve had this same fan before and it works great. Thanks again for the price match etrailer. The fan will go in next week when I redo my RV roof on my Montana 3750fl.

I replaced our factory vent and fan with this new large multi-speed fan. Keeps the bathroom from steaming up with the great air flow. Moves a large amount of air either into or out of the bathroom. Installation was very easy, hardest part was removing the old Dicor from the roof opening. Not difficult, but took the most time of the entire installation.

- MA00-04500K
by:

Fits as advertised, straight replacement for standard inexpensive bathroom fan. Hardest part of the job is getting all the sealant off. LOL

- MA00-04500K

It was a year of Covid limits on RV use but the fan did a great job of making the trip enjoyable. The fan with selection of direction (in or out) and speeds makes it well worth the cost.

Product design is aesthetically pleasing and construction appears to be very durable. Purchased this particular fan over another popular brand because of its low profile when closed and because it has dual actuator door support arms. Product will be used in my teardrop trailer build so I was wanting something compact yet attractive. I'm not to the point where I can actually test the operation of the fan at this time. Hopefully soon. Thank you etrailer.com for another great product at a great price and as usual, superior costumer service.

by:

This beats Fantastic in my opinion. Just took the motor apart to clean, that is a good thing. The features and remote are everything I could want. If you want to really clear the air 100% really works, but it can also run smoothly and very quiet at 10%. I would put a hole in my roof for this fan.

Comments
Clear the air. No problems at all. I am always amazed when the rain or wind sensor just close the cover. I did not have space to put a vent cover on. I you have the space I would recommend the additional cover. It will allow you to run the fan even if it is inclement. Cleaning is pretty easy. the screen is simple to remove but if you wish to wash the fan blades, quite possible, it is a bit more work. Keeping it clean helps and is easy. I expect my fans, yes I have two, to last as long as my RV.

Received products quickly! I did have a question regarding the wiring and called to verify since our old bathroom fan had more wiring. Within minutes it was hooked up and ready to go. They only product I would suggest to get is Butyl Tape or proper sealant before starting, saves time. We used Butyl Tape and its working great. The features on this fan are wonderful and love having a remote control. I did mount the base for it just beneath the existing switches, as the original on/off switch needs to remain on for remote to work properly. When the remote is in the holder it covers the switch. There are two features that I have experienced and love about this unit. 1) Temperature control settings and 2) Fan can be reversed bring in fresh air. We also installed the MaxxAir II RV and Trailer Roof Vent Cover - 22-3/4" x 18-1/2" x 9-3/8" - White - MA00-933072 because we like leaving the vent open at times when rv is not in use and not hooked up to electricity. This prevents weather elements from entering and also keeping birds from using it as a nesting site.

The vent fan I ordered on line was not in stock. Etrailer advised it would take a couple weeks to get and suggested another model. I was not in rush so stayed with my original purchase. The expected delivery date continued to get pushed back. Etrailer continued to keep me advised and follow up on my order. I desired to change to the model they suggested and had it a few days later. Appreciate great customer service. It’s hard to find these days.

I bought a New 2018 Keystone Cougar trailer in April 2018 and removed the stock 3" fan roof vents the first week of ownership and installed 2 new MaxxAir auto remote Vents . They are AWESOME, 1 over the bed area & 1 in the bathroom ....They work like a Home /Whole House system. Air IN over the bed ,thru the trailer Out the Bathroom. I run these alot & NO Problems! Highly Recommend this fan, You'll Love them too.

Product worked out wonderfully except for my shortcoming of finding the proper power supply. It was shipped immediately, arrived on time and without damage. Can't ask for much more than that. I can now use my smoke detectors and vent my kitchen area as the OEM manual vent was inaccessable and useless.

Comments
Still loving it. So glad I changed out that useless manual vent in the 9 foot ceiling.

  • Trailer Roof Vent Recommendation for Auto Close with Rain
We have the MaxxAir roof vent part # MA00-04500K. It has a remote control, thermostat, and rain sensor that will automatically lower the lid when it rains. You'll have to reopen it when the rain stops as the rain sensor is covered by the lid and would not be able to sense dry weather.

Both the MaxxAir Fan Deluxe # MA00-07500K and MaxxAir Fan Plus # MA00-04500K offer 900-cubic-feet-per-minute (CFM) air flow ratings and powered lid lift. The Deluxe has a built-in rain cover to protect the RV interior while the Plus instead has a sensor to close the lid if it rains.

This means you can leave the vent open and running without having to worry about what...

  • Can the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent be Installed on an ARE Fiberglass Truck Cap
Even though vents like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K were designed for trailers, it is becoming more and more popular to use them for different applications. You should be able to install this unit no problem on your ARE fiberglass truck cap but the installation will be totally custom and you will want to use some plywood to help support it. I have attached an installation video that we shot of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06200K being installed on a 2017 Ford Transit...

  • Can the Rain Sensor on a MaxxAir Vent be Overridden
MaxxAir vents that have an integrated rain sensor, like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K, do not allow you to override the sensor. If you were to override it you would be allowing rain to hit the motor which could definitely damage it. The sensor will close the lid and shut off the fan when it is wet, but when it dries up the vent will open up and turn the fan back on.
