Note: Not for use above tubs, showers, or range cooking surfaces.
The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.
The white dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.
The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.
To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on the keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on the keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.
This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.
The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.
The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.
The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.
Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.
And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.
This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.
The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.
To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

The built-in rain shield on this manual roof vent protects the interior of your RV or camper from rainwater. The reversible, 10-speed fan has a thermostat to regulate airflow inside your RV. Ceiling fan mode circulates air when vent is closed.I have two of these installed in our stepvan - they were one of the first things we installed during the build process, and thank goodness we did because they kept us cooler during the summer build. Easy to use, the multiple-fan settings are nice, and the exhaust feature can pull a lot of air. We don't have AC, so these fans make a huge difference in pulling out hot air and replacing with outside air. Great service from etrailer - I ordered the wrong fan the first time and they were great to work with in getting another shipped out to me.
I can't say enough about etrailer, my shipment was early, the price was very competitive and the product works great. I would caution anyone installing this fan to also use a DC to DC 12 volt converter to keep the volts to 12 volt and the amps to 5a. If you exceed this my a small amount the circuit board will burn out.....

The Max Air I purchased from trailer is working great after the first year, I would caution people these fans are volt sensitive do I would recommend including a buck converter to the instillation of this product to maintain 12 stay volts insuring longevity of the fan.
We really like this MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent model 05100K. The rain vent works as advertised, the 10-speed fan can either bring fresh air into the camper, or reversed can exhaust air from the camper. The construction quality is great. It is installed on our RV.
Buy with confidence!

Still very happy with the product!
Replaced existing vent, process went very smooth, same model used so no issues with fit. Replaceing MaxxFan that lasted 5 years with heavy use. Hope this one holds up for 5 years.
We love that it's super quiet on lower settings, yet can move a lot of air on high when needed.
It was disappointing to have the control board go bad after only a few months. It started sounding an error tone along with the "green light of death" and then quitting. The manufacturer was good about sending a replacement board right away.
A word of caution about rain. The downward facing design of the vent works fine - up to a point. In light rain there's no problem, but in a heavy downpour rain can splash off the roof surface and bounce back up inside resulting in a light mist of water entering. If we expect rain we close the vent or leave it open just an inch or two.
I've had this for 2 years with no trouble. It's performed as expected. I did use a regulated 12v power supply to avoid the problems some have had related to voltage spikes affecting the mother board.
Extremely happy with my purchase. Haven’t used the fan much but it’s strong and quiet, along with straight forward installation. I will definitely be purchasing from etrailer in the future as they not only had the best price (yes, even better than Amazon) but their customer service is above and beyond. The shipping is brilliantly quick as well. Highly recommend.
We consistently use this vent fan model in our conversions at STRAY wheel estate collective, located in Greenville SC. It's a high quality product that provides longevity at a good price. Our experience with etrailer was quick & painless, they were prompt with information about the purchase & delivery timeline, all products arrived in a very timely fashion. We will continue to use them as a supplier.
Great service on the sale. I like the telephone sales ability. Much easier to have the etrailer force navigate their inventory than doing it on the web. Very good prices and speedy delivery.
These fans are the bomb. I now own three one with a remote control so I don't have to crawl up onto my bed to run it. Works well solid units you won't regret buying one.
Maxxair fans are a great addition to our trailer. Very quiet and efficient. On low you can't hear them at all. Love being able to have fresh air at night.
The fans work great after a year of owning them. At the time of purchase, I had to install a buck voltage converter to make sure I wasn't giving the fans more than 13v. There was a known issue where anything more than 13v would fry the fan motherboard.
If that is fixed in newer models, lucky you! Would be 5 stars if I didn't have to buy additional equipment to make them work. That being said, installing the buck converters is very easy.
This is our 2nd Maxxfan Deluxe. It helps move air through the RV when we have it closed up at our seasonal site. The temperature control and rain hood allow us to set the high temperature level and nt worry about when it will turn on rain or shine. Best price and product delivery from etrailer.
Kinda bummed out with the MaxxFan. It worked phenomenal when I first installed it and dropped the interior temperature of my ambulance conversion really well during the Phoenix summer. However about a month into use you could hear the bearings in the motor were starting to have issues. Progressively worsened over 3 months before dying completely. In its last days of life the motor sounded like a B52 Bomber was flying overhead.
The design of the product was perfect, it just didn't last and the price was high enough that I am upset that I only got 4.5 months out of it.

Thank you for sharing! This fan does have a 2 year warranty. Customer Service will reach out to you.
My backyard Tuff Shed workshop has a turbine vent fan, which really doesn't work all that well. Over the years I've tried various powered fans, but have never been satisfied with the results. Now that it needs a roof, I was thinking about a solar roof fan. Since I have a 400 watt, 12 volt solar system for security lighting, I realized I could use a fan similar to the one in my RV. The installation was very easy, and the quality of the fan is excellent. Not having to worry about closing the lid for rain is great, and the automatic thermostat is a wonderful set and forget feature. I'm especially impressed how quiet it is.
Really good price on the maxxfan combo
These MaxxFan rv fans are superb! Installed when we rehabbed a decrepit RV, they have held up wonderfully. We got rid of the cooking vent, thus giving more space in the kitchen, and our MaxxFan nearest the kitchen is our vent. You can see pictures and even a video of the fans and remodel on our blog yippikiyo.com
etrailer is our #1 source for quality and price for our RV and other trailers.

Still loving the fans. Very easy to clean screens. They can move a lot of air.
Two issues: the inner shrouds on both of the ones I ordered were cracked when I took them out of the box. The box was not damaged in shipping that would indicate damage prior to opening. HOWEVER, ETRAILER MADE IT RIGHT BY SENDING TWO NEW SHROUDS! THANK YOU. Secondly, the box shows remotes, therefore I expected remotes. In small lettering, it says only available with the 7000 series.
All works well after, maybe 75 hours accumulated use time. Current draw can be less than 500ma at lower speeds. Installation instructions were decent; all parts were included.
The fan closes tight and opens easily. No water intrusion either closed or when open in moderately heavy rain for 20 minutes (fan off).
Wiring would have benefited from a small connector preinstalled on the fan wires with the mating connector supplied with a short (6") pigtail with (small) crimp barrel connectors needed to install it to the house wiring; with the proper (very small) connector, this could make fitting the wiring under the trim easier. The hardest part was ensuring the wiring was securely installed and fitted under the trim so as it would not be abraded by vibration.
By using 1-1/2" PVC spacers on the exterior roof it was possible to install the fan so the interior trim profile protruded only 1/8" below the interior ceiling, even though the roof was only a total of 3/8" thick, including fiberglass and interior finishing.
Possible long term issues:
. fan motor (sometimes there is a chirp for several minutes after changing direction of rotation). IMHO, a better fan motor with better bearings is indicated.
. membrane switches. Adequate, sort of. But on this type switch, surface lettering wears relatively quickly; then the membrane itself wears through. Quality hard switches on which the "button" could be replaced or the whole switch replaced would be a better long term value.
. exterior UV resistance.
Critical issues before purchase (besides size of hole):
. Weight vs. strength of roof. Aluminum reinforcement can be installed on interior or exterior of roof; it's better to plan ahead of time if this is necessary.
. Total height of fan above roof vs. overhead structures or fitted vehicle covers.
Given similar market choices, I would buy this fan again. But hopefully not needed for this rv.
We installed this in our fifth wheel bedroom. Installation was easy in our case. It is very quiet, works well and has been reliable. A few things we've noted: 1.) We have three different models of MaxxFans in our trailer and each has an unnecessarily dissimilar interface, ex., to power off, on one unit you press the power button multiple times and on another, there is a separate power off button. Second ex. , to change fan speed, one model you press the power button multiple times, on another, there are high-low speed arrow buttons. Of course, this is only an issue because we have three different models in our trailer.; 2.) The "ceiling fan mode" where the fan reverses and sends air into the room is not particularly effective because the blade is so close to the vent cover and can't move any air.
Despite those two small issues, we are very happy with our purchase and would buy again. Also note that the white vent cover BLOCKS more light than the black. We didn't realize that at purchase and there is no way to change the vent cover once installed.
It's been a year since we installed our first Maxxfan Deluxe Vent W/ 12v Fan - Manual - 10 Speed - White.... 1) It wasn't too difficult to remove the old fan and install the new one. Took a little patience with the first install, but by the third (we have three fans) it was a piece of cake. Don't forget to use Decor to ensure everything is sealed properly. 2) These fans are very powerful. The one in my bathroom will actually suck the door shut. When we set the one the living area to blow air in and the one in the bedroom to blow air out, air really moves and cools down the rv fast. 3) They are way more quiet compared to my old original fans. Only when I have them on the highest setting to I notice they are on. 4) The built in rain vent is very useful given that if it is raining the only air we get is through the fan vents as all the windows must be closed. 4) My only disappointment has been with the way the fan blades are designed, the air moves more sideways near the ceiling (which is good as hot air rises) but when it is really hot and I'm lying in bed I would like the air to blow downwards so I can feel it.
etrailer does a great job getting items sent out and customer service is great. Very helpful with questions. The fan I replaced with the Maxxfan 5100 was in the bedroom of the 5th wheel and had the automatic lift lid and in the middle of the night would open and close and was quite loud. That's why I bought the manual lift. It works fine for us. Have used it for a full summer now without issue. I have noticed that the old fan did move more air than this one but hasn't been an issue for us. The only thing I don't like is when you set the temperature on automatic this little green light comes on and stays on. It is bright enough that it lights up the whole bedroom all night. Will find some black tape to cut and put over it.
Was easy to install as other reviews have stated. Cleaning up the old dicor off the rubber roof was the only thing that took some time. Very happy with it.
I wasn't able to install it until the Spring because of the winter climate in NH. So far it has functioned flawlessly. Great product.
I fan is working well. Thanks
Fast shipping, Quality product, perfect item description!

One year later and 15k miles of travel across the country and both fans are working great!
