Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The white dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Remote Control and Keypad

Remote for MaxxFan Plus

The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat.

Powered-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

This powered-lift vent opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a vent that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will stay open during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

Excellent fan. Correction to the etrailer description. The lid can be opened and left open without the fan running, either with the remote control, a wired wall control or by the manual knob on the fan. It can be partially to fully opened by using the manual knob. The optional wired wall control works great for those who can't reach the ceiling control panel on the fan. I have 4 of the 07000K fans in 2 campers, all with wireless remotes and wired wall mount control panels.

2. Star review
I had this fan installed
during a re-roofing on my 5th wheel in April 2019. I am happy with the performance and the remote makes it very easy to operate. The unit sat for 19 months during COVID lockdown and border closure. I now notice that 3 of the 4 motor support arms are cracked. A replacement vent frame, part # 10-21217K would fix my problem. Unfortunately this part is no longer, or never was, available. According to the manufacturer, Airxcel, my only option is to replace the whole unit. Without knowing why this one cracked, I am reluctant to invest in another one. I can't believe I am the only one that has experienced this and there has to be a reason why the replacement part is not available. Buyer beware, if yours cracks there is no repair option. That's why I give this product 2 stars.

What a terrific upgrade this was to the original fan. The videos on the etrailer product page made this an easy job. The fan is amazingly quiet yet it moves a massive amount of air.

This was scary to install, but we followed the instructions carefully, and it works great! It is quiet and moves air in or out of our Transit Connect van very well. I'm very pleased we bought this unit.

We marked and taped off the opening on the van roof, drilled the corners, then used a jigsaw with a metal blade to cut it out. We taped a garbage back underneath to catch metal shavings.

The butyl sealant made a water-tight fit, and self-leveling caulk provided the final weatherproof seal. We added plywood on the inside of the roof to provide support, which was a good idea. Overall we love the fan!

Love this fan! I have the temperature control version of the MaxFan, and love that it opens and closes according to the temperature in my RV. Having a couple of cats makes this very important for temperature control. I enjoyed this specific fan in my Casita travel trailer, therefore, when I upgraded to a larger RV, I had to have this fan installed in my new RV.

This is my second one, have a 5th wheel, installed one in the front bedroom, sometime just use it as a ceiling fan while sleeping, the auto temp control is great. I very seldom ever turn on the AC, just have both on pulling the warm air right out. still think there a little pricey, but what's not now a days.

What a pleasure to have installed this vent. I have a pop up truck camper and this vent helps with pulling in the sides. With the vent I had before couldn't use for purpose because it couldn't be turned off once top lowered now with remote no problem.
It was easy to replace old vent

The roof vent is great. Rain does not get in. The fan is quiet on lower settings. On a 2 month trip the fan was on low continuously and remained quiet. The screen is easy to remove and clean. I’d give this 5 stars but the remote is not very intuitive. I don’t use the automatic mode. I leave the vent open and simply run the fan. The remote seems to cycle the vent open and closed before I can operate it as I desire.

Fit perfectly into existing vent. Ran wiring up behind refrigerator. Can be set to run either on thermostat or manually. Really nice rain good. Now I can keep my camper vented by moving the hot air out in between trips and blow cool air in at night to sleep without all the noise from the air conditioner fan. Very pleased.

The concept here is good but the design not great. There needs to be a simple option to keep the louver open (until switched) to outside air even as you are using and not using the fan. Additionally the IR (LED & remote) feature is unusable in a conventional RV where the roof is over an inch or so thick and as a result the control panel is recessed so much, the line of sight IR control is not possible from anywhere except directly under the fan. The IR sensitivity also is one of the lowest of any electronic equipment I have ever owned (you'll likely need a IR transponder to control from anywhere except directly under). I somewhat resolved this issue by installing an aux IR receiver and transmitter but that can ad to the boondocking phantom battery drain and doesn't respond as great through the remote as when the remote is directly under and pointed at the unit but it does make the remote usable for example from a distant bedroom. There's also confusion over the difference between manual mode and when switching "AUTO" on, it doesn't seem to always go to thermostat mode even though you hear the beep from the unit and the remote says "AUTO".

Overall I like the fan, but it seems like there's still a few bugs for them to work out with future editions.

The noise with the vent opening mechanism should likely be addressed and the fan is noisy at full speed but this is likely a limitation of both physics and the physical area this unit has to work within. In fairness, on low it can barely be heard. Also the thermometer seems to sense more relative to the outdoor temp than the indoor which I can understand will be a result of everything being in the same box with no "totally indoor" sensor.

As a product designer I would likely add dual "plug-able" IR sensors, one with flush mount and an alternative one with a short cable with self-adhesive for adding to the frame where the device would have a wide vision of the remote, directed from anywhere in the coach. I'd also add a switch or additional remote control feature to disable the vent where it could be left open or closed when the device was powered off and on. Otherwise it's a bit pricey and even with these quirks still seems to be best if not the only offering in its class.

By keeping the louver open I believe you are referencing keeping the vent lifted and open in order for air to move freely through the vent. The vent can be lifted via the remote by using the button in the lower left-hand corner. If your RV does not have power, you can also use the black knob on the unit itself to raise and lower the vent manually. The IR sensitivity is fairly low. This is to allow you to use the remote to control multiple vents in the same RV without getting signals crossed, or for your neighbor to accidentally open your vent with his remote in his RV. I have attached a video that covers the features of the both the base model and higher models of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent.

Would not recommend at this stage, as this is like any modern electronic equipment these days being actually a rental rather than a purchase. The concept is beautiful, but the application has shortcomings. The remote never worked have to stand directly under it for it to see the signal and the manual keyboard just failed about a month ago. Theres no water in it as others have described online search on problems before buying!. Theres also scores of problems with MaxxAir techs supposedly telling customers the unit fails because it is only for battery use and that 14.2V std alternators or 14.4V solar controllers put out a voltage they didnt take into account SERIOUSLY MaxxAir????. So while this is a marvel on the drawing board, better have a spare in the closet if you depend on it daily. Maybe they can add a voltage regulator, some waterproofing and a new IR sensor design for their remote and have a good product, but dont hold your breath.

Awesome fan! Easy install and super quiet. Live that it can be used as a “ceiling fan”

As always etrailer made my purchase very easy and it was shipped quickly. One of the boxes had a lot of damage, but the MA00-07000k appears to be undamaged and the hardware kit was not lost.

I bought this to put into our 1948 Flxible Clipper. It had old metal vents that had worn out. It was relatively easy to install considering it isn't made to be put on a vintage bus.
My wife and I LOVE this vent. It works great and is pretty quiet. The remote control make life easy. We can use it from anywhere in the bus.
We actually plan to buy another.

As "old people" we especially enjoy the remote control. The fan is strong and works well in both directions. If you're buying one I recommend biting the bullet and going for the best model.

Not a super easy install, requires getting on the roof but glad we installed these, one in the bath and one in the living/kitchen area.

We just received and installed these Maxxair Deluxe fans and absolutely love them. We installed these ourselves and couldn’t be happier. Our reason for ordering these fans was simply so we could have the remote and ceiling fan option. Our previous fans did not have a switch, we are too short to reach them and a step stool is a pain. The install went well and was more time consuming than anything. Otherwise not a challenge at all. The reason for the 4-star vs the 5-star is nothing on etrailer’s part but on the fan itself. We went with white vs smoke in hopes to let more light into the coach but they in fact let in less light than if we were to go with smoke. And also the white fans cast a pinky-orangey hue which isn’t necessarily a deal breaker but would’ve been nice to know ahead of time because we would’ve ordered smoke. Other than that the fans are phenomenal. etrailer, as always, is on top of the game and got these out to us fast and customer service rocks as always!!

The fan has so many different ways to operate it's pretty amazing. Can control manually, by temperature, no worries if it rains, etc. This is our second, first in this RV, and love it.

Yes, it is an Excellent fan, easy to installed myself, and remote control working well from my RV's bed. Thank you so much for the Maxxfan MA00-07000K

Jerry from Los Angeles California

Yes, After a year now, Maxxfan still working excellent. The best rv fan that I ever had. Thanks to Maxxfan
Jerry - 02/06/2021

Everything I was expecting! I ended up having to use my original beauty trim for the under side of the fan. The one they sent was far to tall to be used with my shallow roof!

I have had the MaxFan deluxe Roof Vent Fans for a year and it’s time for a review. I have one rhetorical question. Why do manufacturers put any other fan on their campers? Since I installed 2 of these on our Northern Lite camper, I have not had to worry that the camper would be hot if I left the old fans closed, or that rain would soak the floor if I left them open. These work great with full powered ventilation during a driving rain storm. I would never own another camper without these fans on them, period.

Works as advertised. Have two in RV and am a satisfied owner.

We installed this in our fifth wheel main living area because the ceiling height made a remote necessary. Installation was easy in our case. It is very quiet, works well and has been reliable. A few things we've noted: 1.) We have three different models of MaxxFans in our trailer and each has an unnecessarily dissimilar interface, ex., to power off, on one unit you press the power button multiple times and on another, there is a separate power off button. Second ex. , to change fan speed, one model you press the power button multiple times, on another, there are high-low speed arrow buttons. Of course, this is only an issue because we have three different models in our trailer. This model with the remote is certainly the most complex interface of our three versions.; 2.) The "ceiling fan mode" where the fan reverses and sends air into the room is not particularly effective because the blade is so close to the vent cover and can't move any air.

Despite those two small issues, we are very happy with our purchase and would buy again. Also note that the white vent cover BLOCKS more light than the black. We didn't realize that at purchase and there is no way to change the vent cover once installed.

Should have done this upgrade years ago! Fan is great...waaay quieter and pulls more airflow (airflow vs the tiny manufacturer fan isn't even close). Only thing I may do differently is get the smoke color instead of white. Have a fear of the white plastic yellowing. Hasn't done it yet, but...who knows. In any event- wonderful product. Actually was using it in the rain this past weekend while camping, and obviously- no issues because of the nifty rain hood. Was nice not to have to scramble into the bathroom to shut the vent as with previous fan.

We definitely recommend the MaxxAir fan! Bought it because my wife was standing on the edge of the shower and swatting the stock fan crank with her phone to get it open. Wanting something with a remote and great reviews, we bought this one. I'm as cheap as the day is long and abhor laying out this kind of money for a fan but after using it I have no regrets, and am actually considering buying another for the other bathroom. Install was a pain only because it took so long to pull up the caulking around the stock fan. After that it was quick and easy.

Easy install, cleaning up the old caulking and such was the hardest part
