Replacement Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent

The keypad on my Maxxfan 7500K recently failed for the second time. The first time I contacted Airxcel and they sent me a new one under warranty. I'm out of my warranty period now but etrailer had it in stock and shipped it quickly. It arrived very well packaged with no damage and brought my fan back to life.

Note: I ended up replacing the control board too. I sprayed the entire new board with "CRC Urethane Seal Coat" before installing it. Apparently the older version of the control boards fail on these fans from a combination of condensation, a lack of conformal coating on the board, and higher voltages (ex: >12.8V). The newest version of the control boards (10-21275K-V3.9) tolerate up to 15V. I also sealed the hole directly above the control board where the black/white wires enter with silicone. Finally I replaced the keypad. From what I've read online this combination should prevent premature failure.1284983

This was scary to install, but we followed the instructions carefully, and it works great! It is quiet and moves air in or out of our Transit Connect van very well. I'm very pleased we bought this unit.

We marked and taped off the opening on the van roof, drilled the corners, then used a jigsaw with a metal blade to cut it out. We taped a garbage back underneath to catch metal shavings.

The butyl sealant made a water-tight fit, and self-leveling caulk provided the final weatherproof seal. We added plywood on the inside of the roof to provide support, which was a good idea. Overall we love the fan!1053804

One year later literally two weeks after the warranty expired we discovered that the vent was leaking. The cause was that the lid was cracked, from where the closing assembly pulled it shut. Apparently this is a very common problem with this fan, I see a lot of people complaining online of the same thing. I bought a replacement lid over $100 and installed it. The fan now has loud wind noise while driving, and rattles when going over bumps, because the fasteners that hold it in place are bent and loose. Considering the purchase price of the fan, I am wholly unimpressed with its longevity.

I installed this myself on a vintage camper. It fit perfect in the space where the old vent was. Wiring was simple, and cutting down the bezel was easy. I have left this open for months and even in storms and no rain gets in. Being able to keep it open keeps the camper from getting musty. I also like the tinted skylight effect it gives.1425223

This Exceeded our expectations; we didn't know that this would have such an impact on how much air was moved by this vent fan. I was in, then out of the "Doghouse" for the cost of this (the wife did her own research after I had) and then the wait; the unit this replaced was leaking water as it rained outside. Within a week of ordering this it was delivered, and the following day I got it installed. Installation directions were very simple to understand/follow; the hard part was removing the old vent fan and caulk. Another "Bonus" was how quite this is compared to the original.1459622

Excellent fan. Correction to the etrailer description. The lid can be opened and left open without the fan running, either with the remote control, a wired wall control or by the manual knob on the fan. It can be partially to fully opened by using the manual knob. The optional wired wall control works great for those who can't reach the ceiling control panel on the fan. I have 4 of the 07000K fans in 2 campers, all with wireless remotes and wired wall mount control panels.1276441

After many months of fretting over cutting into the roof of my new van, and waiting for the rainy season to end, I found the installation very easy, and the operation is great. We're currently on a road trip, and the MaxxAir has made camping much more comfortable, and it even improves air circulation while driving with the vent open. it's very quiet at low speed and no leaks in even the heaviest rain.1381112

Pretty solid fan overall. Love the features except for the tight tolerances on the voltage allowed for the fan. On my trailer the fan is tied in with the ceiling light circuit in the area. If lights are on and fan is trying to run at higher speeds, voltage on that line drops to around 12.2 volts DC and triggers an alarm in the fan and it shuts down. Many people have struggled with these circuit boards and protection circuits on these fans for this very same reason. Sure wish there was a solution to an almost perfect product.1404282

I have had the MaxxFan for about a year now and it is great. The installation was very easy and only took me about 2 hours to complete. The hardest part was getting the old Dicor calking removed from the old fan. The amount of airflow is greatly improved with this fan. Even on the lowest setting, (which only draws .1 amps) it is close to what the old fan drew. When you crank it up to the highest setting the draw is almost to much.

The ability to continue to use the fan even in the rain is also very nice. On a warm rainy night leaving the fan on low to get nice airflow through the camper keeps it from getting wet and sticky inside.

The only issue is that sometimes on low there will be a slight high pitched squeak from the fan. It doesn't always happen but it is noticeable when it does.

Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.1506929

Initially I was real apprehensive about getting this fan installed on my 16’ Casita. Not because I didn’t want the fan, believe me I did. The specifications alone were impressive, but the ability to run it like a ceiling fan, with the vent closed was hands down the most impressive feature. Something my little Dachshund Cinnamon would surely attest to. The front mounted ac unit in the 16’ Casita benifits greatly from this fan, it circulates the air better, cools things quicker and, helps maintain the temperature better. There is little information about putting this on a Casita, much less a 16’ one, but I’m happy with my decision to do so. This fan is awesome, and Etrailer was very helpful with information on my purchase. Another note was that I’m happy Terry my installer did this project, the factory installed Fan was riveted in from the top, and removing it wouldn’t have been a typical by the book procedure. Thanks George J. I’m one happy camper, and that’s without mentioning the remote control, air flow on low settings, great price, fast delivery, or quietness of the product.

Still going strong. I can’t say enough positive things about this fan. It’s hard to imagine life without it. The air flow created by using this fan with a cracked window is impressive, and that’s without placing it on the highest setting, something I rarely do unless it’s to cool things off while away.

I had this fan installed during a re-roofing on my 5th wheel in April 2019. I am happy with the performance and the remote makes it very easy to operate. The unit sat for 19 months during COVID lockdown and border closure. I now notice that 3 of the 4 motor support arms are cracked. A replacement vent frame, part # 10-21217K would fix my problem. Unfortunately this part is no longer, or never was, available. According to the manufacturer, Airxcel, my only option is to replace the whole unit. Without knowing why this one cracked, I am reluctant to invest in another one. I can't believe I am the only one that has experienced this and there has to be a reason why the replacement part is not available. Buyer beware, if yours cracks there is no repair option. That's why I give this product 2 stars.1224801
