Rear-Loading, Saddle-Style Carrier with Self-Adjusting Cradles
This rear-loading, saddle-style carrier lets you transport 1 kayak, hull side down. Tilting cradles with rubber padding protect your boat from scratches and scuffs while loading and during transport. This padding also creates friction while you're pushing your kayak onto the carrier, making it less likely that you'll push the kayak too far and potentially have it fall off the carrier and hit your vehicle. Fabric covers on the rear cradles make it easier to push large kayaks onto carrier from the back of your vehicle.
Load Straps and Bow/Stern Tie-Downs
The carrier includes 2 cam-buckle straps to secure your kayak to the rack. A set of bow/stern tie-downs are also included to secure the kayak to the front and back of your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have any tie-down points, you can get an anchor kit (sold separately) which will let you create anchor points in the creases of your vehicle's hood and hatch.
Tool-Free, Clamp-On Installation
The carrier clamps to most crossbars without the need for tools. Simply set the carrier on your crossbars, slide the mounting brackets over the bolts, and secure them with the T-knobs.

Very happy with trailer. Fairly easy to assemble but directions could be better. Took about 4 hours to build basic trailer by myself. Additional 1.5 hrs. to add carriers, spare tire, kick stand, etc.984714

Review from a similar SaddleUp Pro in Watersport Carriers
Overall a very high quality option for adding a kayak tie down system to your vehicle. While I was searching for a kayak tie down system this was the only one I found that was a channel mount system that worked with the Adarac line of truck rails. I have the ADARAC Black Matte Pro Series Truck Rack. When I went I install the the nuts that go into the T-channel are way to small and will not allow it to be tightened down. Also the actual mounts them selfs don’t fit the cross beam flush, this could cause the mount to slip to one side or the other of the cross beam. I’m going to looking at ordering the Adarac tie down loops as Adarac doesn’t sell just the channel nuts by them selfs.1322634
I have gotten it contact with the manufacturer and they have confirmed that your bar is 1.5 inch square which is the only shape and size that these carriers do not work with. According to the manufacturer 99 of crossbars out there are 1.25 inches wide, or not flat on the top, or over 2 inches wide. Unfortunately, there is nothing in-between when it comes to the fit for their carrier.

The kayak saddle works amazingly well with my set up. I would definitely purchase again or recommend to a friend. I use it often, and it works well even with our strong beach winds. 824547
This product has held up well for me, and I still use them a lot. I appreciate their durability and longevity so far. I’m definitely pleased with their product.

Product is great, but it's not the real hero of this review. The real hero is etrailer. These guys are very easy to contact with real people at the other end ready to help anything anytime. I worked w/James on this last order and he was extremely helpful and response. Couldn't ask for a more simple process with great support and ease of business.1286357

Review from a similar SaddleUp Pro in Watersport Carriers
Excellent kayak carriers !! Strong and sturdy , they grab and hold extremely firm. You could easily get away with just strapping kayaks down at the crossbars and have absolutely no problems , esp. for short trips, although they supply and recommend the bow and stern tie downs also. The channel mount hardware fits the thule xsporter pro cross bars like a glove, and I imagine it would fit other crossbar T-track systems as well. Easily adjustable to fit different types of kayaks. Liked them so much that I ordered a second set after using them . A bit on the pricey side, but the "wow factor" of sheer functionality, performance and piece of mind that comes with using these makes it worth it. highly recommend these carriers.

Review from a similar SaddleUp Pro in Watersport Carriers
Good Product, works well BUT...... Instead of a felt like product that both Yakima and Thule use on the rear saddles. This Malone has a "sleeve" you slip on over rear saddle that after less than one year is already showing signs of developing a hole in the sleeve from wear. Of Note: this product is removed in the winter so only used about 6 to 7 months so far. I could probably come up with another solution for the sleeves but having the felt attached so they slide on nice would be helpful and practical- the rubber front saddles would hold well.803873

Yes, the Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG110MD will absolutely fit on square crossbars.
The carrier is a universal fit that will clamp onto your square crossbars to give you an easy to use, and very strong carrier that can handle kayaks up to 90 lbs. The SaddleUp also comes with tie-downs so you don't have to purchase those separately, saving you an added expense.

I recommend the Malone J-Pro2 Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - J-Style - Fixed Arms - Side Loading, part # MPG117MD.
J - style carriers offer more support and it is easier to carry boats with hulls of various shapes without having to readjust the rack. The j - style carrier also has a smaller footprint than other options. Since you will be using the kayak carrier for storage when not in use, its ability to fold is not an important feature. Nor is being able to attach a second boat to the... view full answer...
Correct, the only difference between the Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier part # MPG1001 and the Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier part # MPG110MD is hardware. The former comes with t-bolts to mount in a channel and the latter comes with wrap around style clamps. view full answer...
I have a solution for you, but, you can't attach the Malone Saddle Up Pro Channel Mount, part # MPG1001 to roof racks that don't have a "C-Channel" in the middle of the top of their bar.
Instead, you'll want the Clamp-on variant of the Saddle Up Pro, part # MPG110MD, which will use a universal clamp to go around the bar rather than into the bar.
I've included a video review of this carrier so you can get more familiar with its features. view full answer...
There is one option for a saddle style kayak carrier that is going to both fit your 2015 Subaru Outback and have the 90 lb capacity you need, which is from Malone:
- Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG110MD
I verified with Malone that the SaddleUp Pro # MPG110MD fits your '15 Outback, and has a 90 lb capacity, so it meets both those criteria. It will also work with the width of your kayak so you're all set in regards to those specifics.
But more than just technically... view full answer...
Since you're using the Rola Haul-Your-Might T3 Truck Bed Ladder Rack # 59799 on your Toyota Tacoma, you have options. My recommendation is the Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG110MD. This will clamp onto your Rola Rails and comes with all the tie downs you need! I like the saddle style carriers just because it really hugs your kayak and when tied down properly, your kayak will be nice and secure.

The Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G with the SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG110MD is only designed to carry 1 kayak unless you additional carriers.
Instead, I recommend using the MicroSport, part # MPG460G and adding 2 of the J-Pro2, part # MPG117MD, to carry the kayaks. I've attached videos of both of them.
If you need any equipment for your vehicle to be able to tow a trailer let me know the year, make, and model and I can make some recommendations for you. view full answer...
Yes, the Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G with SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG110MD that you referenced can be used with your 16 foot Old Town Sport Canoe. view full answer...
The Malone XtraLight Trailer that you referenced does have bumpers on the rear of it but it does not have the retractable tongue like you mentioned so instead you'd want the part # MPG460XT which I attached a picture of in the storage position.
You'd then also need the kayak carriers part # MPG110MD which come with the other trailer you mentioned. view full answer...
For your 14 foot Hobie Kayak, I recommend the Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G w/SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG110MD. This trailer is overall 159 inches long and 78 inches wide. The kayak will fit well and rest in the cradles for stability and tie down functions. Your 14 foot kayak will fit well on this trailer and give you the turning clearance you need as well. It is designed for a maximum boat length of 20 feet.
I've attached the installation details for you to assist. view full answer...
The Malone MegaSport 2 Tier Trailer with SaddleUp Pro Kayak Cradles # MPG550-TU that you referenced can carry 3 fishing kayaks like you have. The third one would most likely have to install on the upper bars with an additional kayak carrier part # MPG110MD. view full answer...
The Malone 2 Tier MegaSport Trailer with Saddles for 2 Kayaks # MPG550-TU is designed to transport 2 kayaks on the bottom bar, but you can also mount more accessories on the top bar. You can use add-on Malone Saddle Up Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG110MD for an extra kayak to be mounted. I don't see any reason why you couldn't mount 2 kayaks on the top section being that the top bar is 58" wide and the add-on Malone Saddles only require a minimum of 24" crossbar spread. Just keep in mind that... view full answer...
The Yakima ShowBoat 66 # Y04068 only comes with the bars and does not come with the saddle carriers like you mentioned in the picture. You'd have to add that on separately with a carrier like the Malone SaddleUp Pro part # MPG110MD. view full answer...
No. The Yakima Showboat # Y04068 does not come with crossbars included because while crossbars might be fairly straight forward the mounting towers for each individual vehicle are an extremely mixed bag; I'm not aware of any changes that have been made that now includes the cross bars with the Showboat though.
It looks like your 2019 Honda CR-V might already have factory installed crossbars, so the only other components you would need are the kayak carriers. For kayak carriers the Showboat... view full answer...

What you are looking for to secure your large kayak on your 2016 Toyota 4Runner is called a saddle-style kayak carrier. That type of carrier is the most secure way to secure a larger kayak because the kayak remains on its hull and not turned over, and we do have a great option.
The Malone roof racks that fit your 2016 Toyota 4Runner with raised rails are the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG216 (58" crossbars) and # MPG215 (50" crossbars) so I assume one of these racks are what you have... view full answer...
When using a Malone Megasport Kayak Trailer like # MPG535, you need kayak carriers that can fit around the 1-1/4" square Malone crossbars without T-Tracks. It is possible that your Thule saddles are t-track mounted or its clamps are incompatible with square bars.
Some Malone MegaSport trailer owners like to go with other Malone products. The Malone SeaWing Kayak Carrier # MPG107MD is a popular option due to its wing-style design that allows you to take full use of the long crossbar space... view full answer...
Sorry to hear about your DownLoader # MPG114MD. From my research on your Hobie Passport, it is a 34-inch wide hull at its widest point. For a J-style carrier for that width, the best option is the Kuat Class 2 Kayak Carrier # C2R1B. I confirmed with my tech at Yakima that this carrier can accommodate a 34-inch wide hull.
If you are concerned about the height of your kayak (from the bottom of the boat to the top surface of the boat), the cradles on the BowDown are 5-1/2 inches wide. As... view full answer...
You are correct that a 17' sea kayak or canoe can be mounted on the upper bars of the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer item # Y08129, and still have room for a bike rack due to the 78" long upper crossbars.
I recommend using the Yakima HighRoad Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - Clamp On item # Y02114 which will allow you to mount the bike to the upper crossbars.
To keep the kayaks from resting directly on the lower bars of the item # Y08129 I recommend using the Malone SaddleUp Pro... view full answer...
For a kayak trailer, I'm a fan of Malone's trailers. I personally did a video on their Malone MegaSport Trailer with Saddle Style Carriers # MPG550-U since I'm a big fan of the saddle style carriers as well as their cargo boxes designed for fishing trips. Since it's such a heavy-duty kayak trailer (I jumped on the fenders to test them), it's a smooth ride and was also surprisingly easy to maneuver by hand. If you want an extra strong and sturdy kayak trailer, the MegaSport is the way to... view full answer...
I recommend using the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with Post Style Carrier for 4 Kayaks # MAL63FR because it allows you to carry all 4 kayaks where the MicroSport Trailer # MPG461GU is setup for 2 kayaks. The XtraLight trailer has a 275-lbs total capacity, so as long as your kayaks don't weigh more than that combined it would be a good choice to carry all your boats. The XtraLight is designed for use with a 2" hitch ball and comes with a 4 way trailer connector.

The roof rack you're asking about is a Rhino-Rack System with parts # RB1250, # RRRLKHD, # DK376 which has 50" long crossbars. As for if you can carry two kayaks lying down side by side, it's unlikely, but depends on your kayaks. Kayak widths can range from 22" to 30". If you have saddle-style kayak carriers like the Malone SaddleUp Pro # MPG110MD and your kayaks are less than 24" in width, then you can set them up side by side.

As a 5' 2" girl that has to load kayaks to test carriers here at etrailer, I understand the struggle. Here are my recommendations based off my experience.
Your crossbars are set to fixed mounting points like the Rhino-Rack bars # RRRVP31 that fit your 2019 Toyota Highlander. Even if you could mount them to the rear points, I would not recommend the Yakima Showboat 66 # Y04073 anyways since it is rated for up to 80 lbs and even at that it has a maximum roller extension of 24" which might... view full answer...
