Video Transcript for Review of Performance Tool Tools - Vehicle Tools - PTW87030

Today we're going to take a look at the hand vacuum pump brake bleeder kit by Performance Tool. Now, this one person brake bleeding and automotive test kit will include everything laid out here on the table. It includes the vacuum pump, includes this reservoir jar and the two jar lids. One is used for transport, the other one is used for operation and it does include this universal cup adapter. It does include two of these 23-inch long clear vacuum hoses, two with a three-inch long clear vacuum hose and one two-inch long vacuum hose, the T-hose, the straight hose and the vacuum hose connectors. Right here is two brake bleeder screw adapters.

There's six different tapered hose adapters and then two plugs. Also comes with this nice owner's manual that will describe how all these parts operate. Now, this vacuum tool can test and diagnose a wide variety of parts in common vacuum systems on any vehicle. It'll test engine control systems, emission control systems, and any vacuum actuated accessories. This is a complete kit that will even include accessories for both one person brake bleeding and the automotive diagnostics. This will pump approximately one cubic inch per stroke and it develops and will hold up to 25 inches of vacuum.

Now this vacuum gauge, let me just zoom in here so you can see. The scale is in either inches or millimeters of mercury. Again, if you just let me put my finger on there, you can see as you pump it, you can see it will hold it, and the very bottom is a release. I'll try to do that again. There you go.

It'll hold it. And at the bottom you can see, you can release it right down here. But that should do it for the review on the hand vacuum pump brake bleeder kit by Performance Tool.

Didn’t work as well as I hoped. We ended up bleeding the system the old fashioned way.

Great product

Bearings and races for Pequae 12T equipment trailer installed nice in hubs. Bearings stamped China but what isn't any more

Couldn't find the vacuum brake bleeder locally. Haven't used it yet but looks like a quality product. Prices are very competitive at etrailer, saved myself 30-40 dollars by being patient for shipping.

Nice kit. Everything you need for surge brake bleeding and a lot more.

Slight delay in delivery due to one item out of stock. Arrived as advertised and install was easy. Will use again.

  • Troubleshooting Titan 60 Hydraulic Surge Brake Actuator Not Gravity Feeding the Lines
I ran this by a couple of our installers and they said some of those drum brake actuators have a check valve in the coupler that won't allow gravity feed. Some of those check valves require like 10 lbs of pressure to allow the fluid to move. I recommend using a vacuum bleeder like # PTW87030 to get your fluid in the system without any air and then you will be sure your system is ready to go.

  • Do you Start with the Front or Rear Axle When Bleeding Brakes on a Trailer
I am sure you could start with the forward most axle and work your way back to the rearward most axle and be just fine but I recommend starting with the rearward most axle and working your way forward to the master cylinder when bleeding brakes on either a trailer or vehicle. This method will ensure that all of the trapped air gets pushed out of the lines and does not work it's way further back. If you need a manual brake bleeder then you can use the Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder part...

  • Why is the Hole So Small in Trailer Brake Master Cylinder Fittings
The small opening in master cylinder fittings like # T1209800 is designed to provide the proper amount of fluid and pressure through the brake lines. Bleeding trailer brakes manually is difficult. You could use a power brake bleeder, vacuum style bleeder like # PTW87030, or change methods of how you manually bleed the brakes. What I recommend is to attach the trailer safety chains together then position a long 2x4 upright between the chains and the front of the coupler. Use the long board...

  • Recommendation for Bleeding Hydraulic Brake Lines On Trailer Disc Brakes
I recommend using the Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder # PTW87030 for bleeding the lines on your system with new actuator and calipers. This allows you to pull fluid through the lines and caliper to ensure there is no air and only fluid in the system. I use this system every time I bleed lines because it makes it easy for one person to do it.

  • Difficulty Bleeding Trailer Brakes with Titan Model 6 Actuator
It does take quite a bit of force to manually push in an actuator with or without the cap on. But the cap should be off when you bleed the brakes. Also, the longer the board the more leverage you can put on the coupler and the easier it will be to move it. I recommend using a vacuum pump brake bleeder # PTW87030 which makes things a lot easier. Also it is worth mentioning that if the fluid has no where to go then the actuator will only push in so far. So if you haven't opened a bleeder...

  • How To Bleed Disc Brakes
To bleed the brakes on your Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly Item # DM9713045 you can use the Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder Item # PTW87030 by attaching the vacuum hose to the bleeder on the brake caliper and the other end to the reservoir and then you'll hook another hose to that and onto the Vacuum Pump and squeeze the handle to pull the brake fluid out of the brakes and into the reservoir.

  • Do I Clean Or Replace The Master Cylinder on a Titan Model 6 Actuator That is Full of Rust?
I would start by checking the condition of the Master Cylinder # T1777401 on your trailer. Using the manual activation method which I have included a image for you to understand this will check to see if the O-rings inside your master cylinder have become damaged from the rust/corrosion inside the master cylinder. If you can apply manual pressure to the brakes and the board stays in the same place with equal pressure then you will be able to clean and reuse your current cylinder. If the...

  • Troubleshooting Bleeding Brakes with Vacuum Brake Bleeder
You shouldn't be experiencing issues with bleeding the brakes with a Vacuum Brake Bleeder, like part # PTW87030, after installing the Brake Actuator with Electric Lockout # 099-175-20. It sounds like you might have a clog somewhere in your brake line. What you will want to do is find the next closest fitting from the brake on the trailer and try bleeding the brake line from there. If it bleeds just fine then you know that you need to replace the brake line section that you just bypassed....

  • Are Brake Actuating Coupler Master Cylinders Universal Fit?
For a surge brake actuator, the master cylinders are not universal fit. There are different styles and there are different psi levels for disc brakes versus drum brakes. For instance the Master Cylinder for Titan Actuators - Disc Brakes # T4747100 cannot work in place of the Demco Actuator Replacement Master Cylinder for Drum Brakes # 5650 simply because it won't fit the mounting correctly or hold the same brake pressure. If the mounting locations and the pressure were ideal, then you...

  • Troubleshooting Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes Taking A While to Work After Repairing Brake Lines
The first thing that comes to mind is that you might indeed still have some air in the brake lines on your trailer. It could be that this is preventing the brake shoes to engage completely until they get warm enough to do a better job. This may be why the brakes only seem to start working after pulling the trailer for a bit. When bleeding the brakes you will want to start with the brake furthest from the actuator, opening the bleeder screw and keeping it open until you see that the brake...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Malfunction with Electric Over Hydraulic Drum Brake System
Air in your hydraulic lines when using the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Drum Brakes - 1,000 psi # HBA-10 with new lines would only be a leaking master cylinder, leaking brake cylinder or in the drum brake assembly or improper brake bleeding. Most of the time, the brake bleeding is the issue because you need start with the brake assembly with the longest line from the master cylinder and then move to the next longest until you are all the way through your system I recommend...

  • Do Brakes on Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly Need to be Bled
You do indeed need to bleed the brakes before use of the Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly w/ Disc Brakes # DM9713093. I have added a cut out from the linked instructions which detail the process, and to actuate the fluid you can do it by hand by pumping the actuator, but this can be very difficult, so it's best to use a tool like the Powerbuilt Brake Bleeder # ALL648591 or Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder # PTW87030.

  • Will the Redarc Brake Controller work on Electric over Hydraulic Brakes on a Triple Axle 5th Wheel?
Yes the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems on up to 3 axles. So it will work with the installation of the HydraStar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Triple Axle Trailers # HSE7K-TR1. By upgrading to the hydraulic disc brake kit this will greatly increase the amount of stopping force that your 2019 Dutchman Voltage Epic 3970 will have. The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # K2HR35DKG will work fine on the second axle of your 2013 Venture boat trailer as long as the bearings and seal inner diameters match your spindles. This kit has the most standard sizes compatible with the vast majority of 3500 lb axles. The inner bearings are L68149 with inner diameter 1.378 inches. • Recommended Brake Replacements For 2000 Jayco Eagle 12SO

I recommend the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKUBRK-35 for your 2000 Jayco Eagle 12SO.
