And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.
Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.
This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.

Albert L - 06/11/2022Excellent Product I am not that handy of a guy and I installed the two pro elite no problem took me about an hour found a spot on the forerunner next to the break pedal support. Completely out of the way the button went in a knockout on the front of the dash and it worked the first time I plugged it in.

Our Redarc Proportional Brake Controller did not work with the generic harness that the local shop originally used. This harness that we then ordered from etrailer is specific to certain Toyota vehicles, in our case a 2020 4Runner. Having this specific harness made all the difference. After a 7000 mile cross country trip with our camper we can report that with this harness the Redarc controller worked flawlessly. Thanks to the folks at eTrailer for helping us get the correct part.
As far as I know it is working great. Never towed without a controller so I have nothing to compare.

This harness worked perfectly with my 2021 Toyota 4Runner. It even includes the required in circuit diode to prevent interference with the vehicle brake lights. Simple plug and play installation to factory harness.

Although Toyota gave me an adapter to plug in, this made install much easier since no need to slice wires.
Hardest part of the installation was trying to find the 4runner wiring harness to plug I to, lol

The Redark trailer brake controller installed easily. In my 2020 Toyota 4Runner. It looks like it came installed from the factory. It’s small and easy to reach when driving. It came with a plastic install panel. This is designed for installing in a hole that you drill in your dash. It will not fit in a knock out space in your dash. There is one that fits the dash perfectly that you can buy from etrailer.
etrailer automatically bundled the Redark trailer brake controller with the correct plug and play wiring harness for my vehicle. It was nice not to have to search for the wire harness. Everything installed perfectly. I didn’t have to splice a thing.
I haven’t tested the function of the brake controller yet. I’ll hook up to a trailer this week.
The items arrived in less than a week and the package was in good condition. The order tracking worked great. The tech videos on the etrailer website were really helpful. I’ll purchase from hem again.
The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite as an easy install. I watched the video on the etrailer site and removing all of the dash plastic was way, way overkill....all unnecessary. I popped the factory dash plug easily and ran the switch wire through to opening, connected it to the switch and then the new labeled dash insert. I left it hanging until I tested the system...then inserted the new insert and was good to go. The Toyota factory hitch connector was easy to find and with a bit of twisting and turing (me, not the plug), I was able to snap the Redarc wire harness into the factory plug. If you remove the bottom dash panel, in my opinion....it would be in the way when making this effort. The rest of the install involved finding a location for the controller block and carefully stowing the wires from the harness.
All in all....a very good product. I would recommend....

After watching an etrailer installation video for the Redarc tow pro Liberty brake controller and ordering the appropriate snap and go wiring harness and the panel insert for my 2013 Toyota 4Runner the installation went well. The brake controller works exactly as advertised and looks like it was a factory install. Special thanks to Kayla for her help tracking down a small but critical part-the dashboard panel insert. To make sure it was the correct part, Kayla watched the installation video to which I had referred. If all your customer service reps are as professional and dedicated as Kayla then I give customer service 10 stars.
Plugged right into the connector by the e-brake pedal and I found a convenient bolt to attach the ground ring to. It has a good length to reach the spot I mounted the brake controller, not too long that I had to coil it up and not so short I needed to stretch it. Others might not mount their controller in the same spot but it worked out well for me. And most importantly, the brake controller worked perfect. Made the job very easy.
