Step wobbles when you step at it's left and right sides. I tried shimming left right and bottom of the hitch which helped. I had though that it needs an angled split in the part that goes into the hitch with a draw bolt that pulls the 2 split halves towards each other allowing the size to grow and tighten into the hitch receiver. I thought about drilling a hole into receiver and welding a 5/8" nut onto side of receiver to tighten a bolt into the tongue of the step. I like the split tapered idea better as I would not be compromising the hitch integrity. I switched back to folding stair and do not use the step.

Comments
At first I was not fond of the step! the 10 step is way too large. Most step averages in a home run 7-14. I let the item set for 6or more months. Finally I decided to use the item as parts and make mu own custom step. I ground off the weld from the hitch tube, rewelded the placement from the hitch to my top step to match my needs being 7 below rear truck camper rear porch. We then cut and rewelded the lower step to be 7 below upper step. I tried and loved this, but the centerline of the hitch does not match the centerline of the camper door. Next modification we cut the welds from the steps to main center steel structure. we offset the steps to the right leaving 3 overhang at left of main support. The top step was very stable, but bottom step required additional steel bar welded to the original frame, and 2 14 rods at an angle projecting out to support the bottom step from flexing. Now that I have modified the original to my needs. I LOVE THE STEP . It provided me with incredible parts. By the way, the step does not wobble now as all pressure is on one side, not shifting from right to left as you go up it.

Once again when everyone else cant produce (citing supply chain issues), etrailer comes through with a great product, speedy shipping, and stellar service! In my mind etrailer is setting the standard for business and customer service. These people pay attention to detail, they follow up, and they are completely dialed in during EVERY transaction. The steps were the perfect remedy for a pop up truck camper I was selling that came with no steps. Its a little loose in the hitch receiver (2 inch) but I had a hitch wobble device to stabilize it, so you may want to think about purchasing that too. Once stabilized the steps worked great to enter the camper. The shaft also has 3 different holes positions to help you adjust the depth to fit your truck perfectly. I failed to take a picture before we sold the camper...ugh. I will continue to shop etrailer for all of my truck/camper/rec needs!

Being somewhat disabled I had a hard time exiting my boat. With the help of these steps it is no longer an issue. These steps are solid. I used a small bumper receiver mounted unto the riser. Much easier to exit the boat now without the fear of missing my step on the trailer beam and falling or slipping.

Great, still solid and no flex

Service was great and step was delivered quickly. However, I couldn't give 5 stars because the bottom step does not extend out far enough beyond my F150 tailgate when it is down. I knew the top step would be unusable, but I read what one of the etrailer reps wrote, that the bottom step would extend beyond the tailgate. One of the main reasons for purchasing the step was so I could use it to get in and out of my truck tent without a step stool. Now, I need to purchase an extension tube.

Comments
Now that I have the extension tube, the steps work for both my truck and boat.

I came upon a reference to this product while searching on line for a receiver-mounted platform to replace the folding step stool we had been using to enter our Four-Wheel camper. It appeared to be just what we needed, and I found that it was an almost perfect fit. The top step is at nearly the same level as the step built into the bumper of our 2001 GMC Sierra, so this provides a large level place for our feet when we are exiting the camper. With the step unit inserted into the receiver with the middle hitch pit hole aligned, there is only a very small gap between the top step and the bumper step. I am not sure yet if we will be traveling with the steps in place, but I did install reflective red tape on the back edges of both steps, and on each side of the lower step, so that it is more visible. Be aware that the mounting bar of the step unit is not a tight fit in the receiver, so there is some movement when weight is placed off-center on the steps. Wrapping tape around the mounting bar, or perhaps inserting shims, might improve this situation.

This two step hitch stair setup was exactly what I was looking for to provide easy access to our truck camper. The steps feel very solid and secure when going in and out of the camper. I bolted on some 2x10s to make the steps even a bit larger. I painted the wood and added antislip strips for safety. I also offset the wood steps a bit as our camper door is offset to the left. Silas the dog has no trouble going up and down these stairs! Great price for a great product!

No more climbing up rickety ladders.

I like it! I use my '55 Grumman (Doughboy) for camping and was looking for an alternative to carrying around a stool/step to put on the ground. I came across this Hitch Stair and I already had a 2" receiver on Doughboy, so figured I'd give it a try.
I was going to make one myself, but didn't want to take the time.
It does have a little "wobble" in it, but that could also be my receiver. I just carry a couple of wooden shims with me to make it steady and it works just fine.
I recommend it!

My truck bed camper is so easy to access with hitch stair and extender. Having them has finished off my project perfectly. Thanks

by:

love the steps, easy to take in and out of my Reese hitch.

by:

Very solid and heavy duty. Shipping was quick. Product does exactly what we need in providing steps for easy access to truck bed.

by:

I bought this to put on the front of a pontoon trailer. It worked perfectly.

by:

Just received the stair steps and put them on my 2019 F250. I am very happy with them as the steps allow me to enter and exit the back of the truck with ease. I should note that this is a work truck with a space kap installed so I have two doors that open, no tailgate. It is so much easier to have the two steps so I don’t have to step up high to get in.

by:

Using as steps to make getting in and out of the boat safer. Not as nice as trick steps for this use but much cheaper and serves the purpose

by:

Steps and extender appear they will work well for my Ram 2500 with slide-in camper, having not loaded the camper to date. Unfortunately, the receiver on heavy duty Rams are 2 and 1/2 inches, so I needed to add a 2 inch reducer which doesn't fit as tightly, making the set up less rigid. But, this will be better than the bulky set of steps I used to carry and then hope for level ground on which to set them.

Comments
Weve now welded component pieces together including 2 and 12 inch hitch adapter which the entire unit much more solid.

The plug in has been the perfect set of steps to get in and out of my camper. This was exactly what I was looking for.

by:

It's precisely what I needed. Scissor steps were a consideration due to their compact nature, but these don't have to be leveled on uneven ground; A super plus! Just leave them inside the truck camper door and take 'emout when needed. Mine fits very snug in the hitch so I don't wven use a pin. Happy trails!

by:

Product great, the box it was shipped in wasn't.

by:

Great product! I used this with an extension and 3 hitch stabilizers. Extend the steps perfectly to match my slide in camper and provides a solid step.
I would definitely recommend adding traction adhesive and grit to the steps, they are extremely slippery in wet conditions.

by:

Steps work great, look great and priced right. Love them. I will be using them with my truck camper. They are the perfect height.

by:

Packaged was delivered partially mangled, but steps are sturdy and Not damaged, I have not yet tested steps with PU camper , hoping all works well.

by:

Love it. Bought a second one a few months later.

by:

Just received our stairs. Perfect fit, perfect height. Quality construction and great value. Tammy in customer service was awesome!

by:

How great this product is. Saves us a lot of money because they work just as good as the other kind of camper steps.

Comments
It is the best item we ever bought!!!!

This step is a lot more sturdy than I anticipated when I bought it. It doesn't twist at all when I step on just one side or the other and it is about the right step separation distance for getting into the back of the camper door on a slide in camper. I thought about putting some grip tape used on skateboards on the steps but so far it doesn't seem to need extra traction. (the skateboarder kids buy sheets of the sand coated tape the size of a skateboard for way less than buying the same stuff at a parts house) The step is rather solid.
