Specs:
The RockyMounts SplitRail LS platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's 2" hitch. It is designed to carry bicycles of varying sizes and styles. The bike trays adjust to optimize bike spacing and reduce bike-to-bike contact. The ratcheting arms and wheel straps secure your bikes by the wheels so there's no frame contact. The front-mounted release lever allows the rack to easily tilt down with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area and fold up when not in use. Finally, the rack includes integrated cable locks to secure your bikes to the rack and a locking hitch pin for securing the rack to your vehicle.
The Rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bicycles on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over your front wheel.
The sliding rear-wheel straps allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 48" long. The ratcheting, rubber straps hold your bikes' rear wheels securely in place on the tray and fit tires up to 3" wide.
The front and back trays adjust 4" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just remove the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the top of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then re-install the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transportation.
The front-mounted release lever allows one person to easily tilt the RockyMounts SplitRail. The rack tilts down with or without bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.
The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting a bike. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage
The RockyMounts SplitRail installs quickly and easily into your 2" hitch receiver. Insert the shank into your vehicle's hitch receiver, then install the hitch pin and tighten it down. As the pin tightens, it engages the 3-axis anti-wobble bolt inside the shank. This system will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.
The rack comes with integrated cable locks to secure your bikes against theft. The cables extended from the ends of the wheel hooks and wrap around your bikes' frames to lock them to the rack
The hitch pin also comes with a hitch lock to help prevent the rack from being removed from your vehicle.
An included mounting hook bolts to a secure attachment point so you can hang the rack when not in use. Simply remove the rack from your vehicle, reinstall the hitch pin and then set the shank in the middle of the bracket, inserting the hitch pin into the bracket's cradles.
When mounting the storage hook use a pair of 5/16" x 3" lag bolts (sold separately). Select a sturdy location, such as a wall stud, and make sure the location is at least 36" off the ground so the rack can hang unobstructed.
There is an optional 1-bike add-on available (RKY1150 - sold separately) for the RockyMounts SplitRail that will allow you to convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 3- or 4-bike carrier.

Platform-style rack holds bikes by the wheels with ratcheting hooks and sliding straps - no frame contact. Front-mounted lever tilts rack with bikes loaded for cargo area access and folds it up for storage. Includes locks and wall-mount storage hook. The Rocky Mount split rail bike rack was everything I had researched and expected. Easy to put together, easy to attach to car hitch, and easy to load up our bikes. Also, easy to store when not using. Quality bike rack and highly recommend for bikes with carbon frames. 704199
Nice bike rack. Arrived in good condition, easy to assemble, and easy to load/unload bikes. Very stable while driving as well. Highly recommend this product. 940227
Rocky Mounts Splitrail is a great rack with many features. The front wheel arms fit many wheel sizes, the folding mechanism still works great after a full year. The only part that is odd is the rear wheel tray. Road bike wheels and kids bike wheels aren't thick enough to make tight contact with the strap. Although I have never had anything close to a problem with the rear tray, it is still not a tight as I would prefer. Mtb wheels are held just fine because they are thicker. The locks that come with the rack are good, but the cable is little short. Good in a pinch, but if you really want to lock your bike, bring an extra cable. 913859
easy to install and operate. Does an excellent job of securing bikes in place. Price was a good value. Very happy with product. 912947
I had this rack for almost a year and all I can say it is awesome.Quality of a more expensive rack but in reach of affordiability. Visibility is awesome, and the build is excellent. The looks I get when I'm on the Highway from a Yamika, Saris, or Thule owner are priceless. I can't wait till my Kids learn how to ride without training wheels family trips will be in full effect. 905581
A wonderful ebike carrier. Bikes are not right next to each other and unlikely to be damages. Etrailer personnel were helpful and delivery was prompt. 836854
Used the bike rack for the first time this weekend on a 1000 mile round trip to VA. The rack held the bikes as expected, it is extremely easy to load and unload and I like the built in locks for each bike for extra security. Great product! 830106
Product is excellent. Adam E helped and he was awesome. 824952
Easy to put together and even easier to use. It’s a solid platform which gives stability without compromise. I love this rack, especially the built in locks so no need to buy extra or attach you own. 822781
Product was extremely easy to set up and install. Have only used it once (received yesterday), but bikes are solid on it. No play from the rack in the hitch receiver which is nice for those washboard roads. Recommend for anyone on the fence. 814711
Awesome rack. I love the levered handle release. Super sturdy and easy to use. While a bit on the hefty side, it's manageable. I added a 3rd row, which was easy, but decreased access to the release handle a bit. adding a 4th row would probably make handle access quite difficult. It is likely that the factory 3 and 4 row would avoid that. The provided lock is pretty flimsy. It's designed to keep honest people honest. So I just add some additional locks when I think it's necessary. But let's be honest. A power saw is going to make just about any bike on any rack accessible to someone who wants the bike(s), so there really is a limit in how far it is practical to go with any rack lock. Anyway, a great rack and would definitely buy again. We also have the other Rocky-Mounts rack, the MonoRail, and its a great rack also. 803668
Awesome rack all around, very high quality feel and everything just works great. I actually bought this rack (new LS model) after seeing a review for the original SplitRail, primarily because it had a “quick-release” (non-threaded) hitch pin with an anti-rattle tension knob on the outer end of the center tube. The LS apparently went back to a threaded hitch-pin design, I’m assuming because they bent the center tube up for more ground clearance. Turns out the threaded hitch pin device is SOLID (I didn’t know how much I’d appreciate that, it’s like an extension of your vehicle) and takes 10 seconds with the included wrench (I use a $5 ratcheting box wrench and it takes 5 seconds). I have an inclined driveway where the previous rack would scrape the ground, the bend in the tube now gives me 3-4” of clearance, so probably a worthwhile tradeoff. We previously had (and loved) Yakima High Rollers on the roof of our Subaru Outback, but we moved to a RAV4 and the wife wasn’t able to load bikes herself, she is thrilled with the ease of loading on these trays. The big wide aluminum trays are very forgiving compared to the narrow steel versions where wheels can fall between trays. I was a little concerned about losing the ratcheting rear wheel straps I was used to on the High Rollers, but honestly the simple cinch straps on the SplitRail are solid and effortless, saving a few seconds of ratcheting per bike. The bikes never even wiggle (with 1.9, 2.1, and 2.35 tires so far) Aesthetically, it’s just the right blend of industrial and curvy, holes in the right places where “self cleaning” comes to mind, and the blue accents are just right... especially folded up. There are extra bolt holes in the trays if you need to offset so handlebars don’t hit seats etc, but wasn’t necessary for us. Her bike seems solid just sliding the wheel brace down until it touches, mine wiggled a bit until I compressed into the tire another click or two, just snug. Helps to compress again when releasing the slide-ratchet, which is otherwise very easy and ergonomic. I actually just lay my palm on the tire hook and pull against the fork arch for that extra click (and when releasing) without even thinking about it now. Integrated locks are pretty cool and a nice touch when grabbing a burger or a beer on the way home (always seem to forget mine at home). And for those considering the rear two-prong “hanger” style racks, which are typically half the price, I have to say going to a tray is worth the price difference EVERY TIME you load. No more fighting suspension or bending cables or bikes rubbing together, or taking three bikes off to get to the inside one when plans change. Not to mention expensive rubber straps aging and cracking. I fought one for years and I’m still kicking myself. 730826
This product works perfectly to hold two e-bikes. Assembly was easy and all parts and tools to assemble were included. The no-wobble hitch pin with lock is fantastic. etrailer’s price beat even the manufactures by over $100 dollars. The included bracket to store the rack helps reduce the space needed to store the rack in my garage. This is the best purchase I have made in some time. Thanks etrailer.com 726632
This is by far the best bike rack I have ever invested in. It is extremely well built and is strong enough to carry 2 fifty pound ebikes. Even better, etrailer had an amazing price. 722728
Love my new bike rack! What great quality, service and price! I’m impressed. 707201
