When towing your vehicle with a tow bar, all 4 wheels are in contact with the ground. Certain vehicles - namely, those with front-wheel-drive automatic transmissions - require either a transmission lube pump system or a driveshaft disconnect when being flat towed. Using a tow dolly eliminates the need for those by lifting your vehicle's front wheels off the road. In addition, using a dolly eliminates the need for base plates that clutter the front of your towed car, difficult-to-install wiring, and a potentially expensive supplemental braking system. Also, if you want to tow multiple vehicles, this dolly is a great alternative to traditional flat towing because you don't have to purchase and install brackets and wiring for all of your cars.

Superior Design

Electric Brakes

The built-in electric brakes make it safe and easy to stop your vehicle while you're towing. This meets towing requirements, and also helps prevent the extra wear and tear on your RV's brakes that would otherwise occur because of the added towing weight. An electric brake controller (sold separately) must be purchased and mounted inside your RV to complete the installation. In addition, you will need a 6-way or 7-way trailer connector on the dolly so that it can receive the braking signal from your RV.

Universal Compatibility

The sliding ramps offer a 47" range of adjustment to ensure a precise fit for almost any vehicle you decide to tow. Also, the included wheel nets adjust to fit tires that are up to 30" outer diameter x 11" wide.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2015 Manual Transmission Mitsubishi Mirage Behind Motorhome
A 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage with a manual transmission can indeed be flat towed with the transmission in neutral. For starters, you'll need a base plate, # BX2002 from Blue Ox. For a tow bar, use the Blue Ox Alpha2, part # BX7380. To wire the taillights, I'd recommend a bulb and socket kit like # DM9523047-54 which allows the wiring to remain independent of the vehicles taillight wiring system. It's like using a magnetic mounted tow light set that you'll only need to install once, without...

  • How To Add License Plate Kit To 2020 Master Tow Dolly
Some tow dollies like the Roadmaster Tow Dolly part # RM-2050-1 come with a license plate bracket. If the 2020 Master Tow Dolly did not come with a license plate bracket then you can use Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket part # LPL55CB. You will probably need to drill through the fender of the tow dolly or the frame to install it. The bracket does include a LED light to light up the license plate so you would need to splice the black wire into the running light circuit and ground the...

  • Correct Replacement Hub/Drum for Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes (RM3477)
The correct replacement hub/drum for the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes (RM3477) part # RM-2050-1 is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 84546UC3-EZ. This is a complete kit and what I recommend using to get back up and running. The retainer or cotter pin likely came out causing the castle nut to back off and that is what caused the hub to become loose. There could have been damage to the hub or bearings and races which is why I recommend a full replacement.

  • Towing Capacity of 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
You are correct that passenger and cargo weight inside a vehicle does reduce the trailer weight it can tow. A vehicle like your PT that is intended primarily to transport people may not have much trailer towing capacity if you have a full load of passengers and cargo. I checked the online owner's manual for the 2005 PT Cruiser and the manual states (on page 242) the maximum trailer weight is 1000-lbs when the total weight of passengers, luggage and cargo is no more than 865-lbs. This...

  • Does Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes Require Safety Chain for Vehicle
You will not need to add safety chains to attach your vehicle to the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes # RM-2050-1. Like you mentioned, the ratcheting wheel straps are going to be what secures your vehicle to the dolly. The dolly does come with safety chains, but those are for the dolly itself and attach to your motorhome. I have added links to a couple video reviews for you to check out as well of the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes # RM-2050-1.

I did some checking and it looks like your 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage can only be towed with a tow dolly since you have the CVT automatic transmission. You could use the part # RM-2050-1 for that. Tow dollies are typically about the same price as a flat towing setup yet require much less install time and are easily transferred to future vehicles unlike tow bar setups.

  • How to Tow 2015 Jeep JK That Has Snowplow Frame Installed
Not a stupid question at all. Since the snowplow mount on your Jeep connects to the frame, much like a set of towing base plates does, it is not unreasonable to ask if there is a way to connect a tow bar to this already-installed (and sturdy) mounting point. Good question, but the answer is less good: no, you can't. The plow's mount and virtually any base plate are likely to use the very same or very nearby mounting points on the vehicle frame. That would mean that both of these weight-bearing...

  • Is Trailer Breakaway Kit Required for Tow dolly
You do ask a good question. A breakaway system is not required when using the Roadmaster Tow Dolly.
