Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
The drawbars, or front arms, on this base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove each arm, simply tug the built-in pull pin to disengage the lock, twist the arm back and pull it out of the bracket. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Michael - 02/13/2022Bad experience with Roadmaster this time around! I have used their product for 15 years on my Ford Explorer towing behind a 40 foot diesel pusher with no issues. Purchased this set for my 2016 F-150 Limited pickup on line from etrailer and the fit from Roadmaster was terrible!!! the passenger side slide in arm when locked in place with the receiver installed on the vehicle, made the horizontal female cocked to about 25 degrees up from a horizontal plane!!! this meant the arm from my $1200.00 Roadmaster tow arm would not hook up. I had to take to a weld shop to make repairs on the arm to set it in a horizontal position!!! Roadmaster would not believe this was possible to their product said they had only seen this happen once before? It happened before but now you don't believe ME?
Product was very well built and was easily installed with two people. For my 2018 ford f150 I used the direct connect removable arms Rm- 524431-5 and added a cross bar for better stability. e-trailer sales the RM-524431-4 that has the cross bar for the same price. (My mistake and the truck towed better with a Cross bar)
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO INSTALL THEM YET BUT THE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE WAS FANTASTIC. THE BASEPLATES ARRIVED DAYS BEFORE I EXPECTED THEM AND I WAS HAPPY TO RECEIVE THEM SO QUICKLY.

Took all of 2 hours with a Crescent Wrench, Duct tape and a wooden stick (Kidding, I used actual tools). but it really did take 2 hours start to finish. Great quality product, arrived faster than expected. Very satisfied. and now I get to keep my beloved F150 with me everywhere I go :)

Takes a little muscle to properly install, but once installed it works like a charm.
Wiring kit and tow brackets showed up on time. Robert was very helpful on the phone. I've also ordered from etrailer many times good company. Install wet very well. Their videos help also sometimes easier than reading directions. Quality of the hardware and base plates and removable arms are well-made.

After pulling my pickup for the first time, the front bolt of the bracket sheared off. Had to go in a change the bolts to grade 8 bolts. So far everything has been working fine while pulling my pickup.
Received yesterday, quality looks great; have installed one side. Instructions are fairly good but totally lacking on removal of the 2018 F150 bumper. Access to the bolts inside the frame on the 2018 is very good so used grade 8 nylock nuts instead of the included wire held nuts. Access to hold the full size hex nuts is very good so it was easier to hold the nuts while torquing.
Packaging was really well done and held up during the shipment. The quality appears to be great.

Robert - 07/02/2019I've been towing a vehicle behind my motor home for the last 12 years. That includes four trucks and one car. Each time I've used Roadmaster Base Plates and a Roadmaster tow bar. I find that when I'm outfitting a new truck for towing, etrailer always has the parts I need (base plates and taillight wiring) at the best prices with the quickest shipping.
These have worked well. They were a bit of a challenge to install, but that was more about the F150 than the brackets.
Perfect fit and very strong. Removable tow bar attachments makes it barely noticeable.
Working with etrailer has always been exceptional, and this was no exception. Working with Courtney was great, knew her stuff and help me make sure I got all the right parts so I could flat tow a 2020 F-150. This is our second purchase of this product. We like the ease of installing and connecting to the RV. Can't wait to get it on the road to see how the new vehicle pulls down the road.
