Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751475

  • Stop Light Switch
  • Roadmaster

Avoid damage to your vehicle by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Some pieces from this kit were needed for installing a brake Controller in a 2016 Sprinter, without the tow package. It works and the van doesn't flag any errors or codes. I talked to a helpful etrailer rep before buying to confirm my application and that personalized service was much appreciated.

Ordered parts for installing a brake controller.
The videos that are part of the web site were a great help in selecting all the needed parts, detailed down to the part numbers that were needed.
I really like the fact that there is a video showing the brake controller installation with my specific vehicle.
Great service !

Installed in 2016 Ford Edge Titanium. Had to buy additional cable connectors that were not included in the kit and instructions did not specify they were required. I would have given 5 stars if it was at least mentioned in the instructions.

This is a great device. The reason I bough it from ETrailer is because of customer service. They are super helpful.

Place the brake as suggested and try it out. Works just as expected.

It fit perfect in my 2022 Lincoln Nautilus! And the instructions were excellent and well done! Thank you folks !!

  • Which Custom Fit Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Fits 2017 Ford Edge

  • Parts Needed to Wire Brake Controller to 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter with Green Connector
Since you have brake controller pre-wiring already on your 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 you would not need to use a stop light switch like part # RM-751475. We don't sell a connector that plugs right into it, but you can still use it to wire up a brake controller like the P3 part # 90195. You'll need to cut the connector off and then wire the vehicle wiring to the controller's wiring. On the controller the blue wire is the brake output circuit which runs to the 7-way of the vehicle, the...

  • How to Obtain Brake Light Signal in 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis
The ground (cold side) of the brake light signal in a Sprinter can sometimes be found in the wiring above the brake pedal. A high-sensitivity LED circuit tester will be required to test this due to the weak signal strength in this wire. This is due to the low voltages in this vehicle's wiring system. In other cases you may need to install an accessory stop light switch kit # RM-751475 to provide that brake light signal needed to trigger a brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195.

  • Is Stop Light Switch Needed for 2016 Ford Edge Titanium with Invisibrake
Ideally you would do both things in your first question. Disconnect the battery and then run a charge line to it for maintenance. If a manufacturer requires you to disconnect the battery to flat tow it you really do need to do it. You wouldn't want your ignition/coils being energized the whole time you are towing. The # RM-751475 is what allows the Invisibrake # RM-8700 to know when the brakes are applied so the two actually work together.

  • How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
If your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 came with a factory 7-way trailer connector then there should be a green connector located under the driver's seat. This green connector would then be plugged into a Mercedes-Benz speciality harness and attached to a brake controller. However, if you do not have this connection or cannot find it then you will want to proceed with the hardwire option. In order to hardwire a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller...

  • Recommended Electric Trailer Brake Controller for a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with Tow Package
It sounds like you're looking for an electric brake controller for your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. There isn't a confirmed plug and play wiring adapter for your van. If you have a connector under the dash send me a picture of it and I'll see if we have something that will work for you. Since you have the tow package with a 7-way trailer connector you'll just need the wiring kit # 5506. You'll also need a brake pedal switch # RM-751475 because of the wiring system of the van. • Can The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Be Installed On A 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500?
This is actually an issue with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 in the 2017 model year if it was not equipped with the factory tow package. Due to the vehicle's wiring system, as you mentioned, you will need the stop light switch kit # RM-751475 to bypass the factory switch. Typically modification of the included bracket will be necessary for installation, but this is pretty easy to do. Once this is installed, you will have absolutely no problem using your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.

Since your 2012 Mercedes Sprinter does not have the wiring to plug in a brake controller but does have a 7-Way trailer connector you will need to do a little hardwiring to install a controller such as # 90195. • Extra Parts Needed to Install Roadmaster Even Brake in 2018 Ford Edge
I forwarded this to our tech contact at Roadmaster and here is his response: When the instructions say the green wire for the ICX (which is the common wire used on the relay) it is referring the the brake signal output. So when wiring to the B set of instructions, it needs to tie into the blue wire. HOWEVER -- the 2018 Edge require a battery disconnect so you cannot/will not be able to use the brake light relay part # RM-88400. Instead, this vehicle needs a stop light switch kit # RM-751475.

  • Recommended Battery Disconnect For 2016 Ford Edge Titanium
For your 2016 Ford Edge Titanium, when using the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 you will still need to use a battery disconnect because it states it in the owners manual. I reached out to my tech contact at Roadmaster to confirm. Each vehicle is different whether this is required or not. Since it is required on your vehicle I recommend the # RM-766. You will also need stop light switch # RM-751475 for this application. I've attached a video to help.

  • Trouble Locating Cold Side of Stop Light Switch for Brake Controller on 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
There are some wires that are hot all of the time which is why we usually try to emphasize that the brake controller, like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, needs to be connected to the cold side of the stop light switch when installing the Kit # ETBC7. Sometimes a vehicle will not have a wire connected to the cold side of the stop light switch which is what you are finding. There is no plug-and-play brake controller harness for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 so brake controller installation will be a hard-wire process. Under the driver's seat there should be a green plug. The wires to this plug can be tested with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm their function since vehicle wire colors are not always consistent. The trailer brake controllers we most often recommend are the proportional type that slow the towed item (in your case the tow dolly with your 2011 Mini Countryman) at the same rate that the tow vehicle itself slows down. This proportional braking reduces the "tug of war" feeling between the dolly and the tow vehicle. The two versions of our preferred Prodigy controller, the P2 # 90885 and the P3 # 90195, use the same internal technology but the P3 delivers this with additional user-friendly...
