This smart diode wiring kit lets you connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car's lighting system so that you'll have the signal lights necessary for flat towing your vehicle.

Because your vehicle has variable voltage tail lights, you cannot use a standard diode wiring kit to get these signal lights. If regular diodes are used on a vehicle that has variable voltage tail lights, the bulbs will light up as though the towed car is braking whenever the tail lights are on. In other words, there will be no difference between the vehicle's brake lights and running lights. This is because variable voltage tail lights use the same wire to power both the brake lights and tail lights. They do this by using a 12-volt signal for brake lights and a 9-volt signal for tail lights.

Smart diodes correctly modulate the 12-volt signal coming from your RV to activate only the intended circuit. The result is that your vehicle's tail lights look and function as intended.

This wiring kit is designed to work with LED lights only. If your vehicle has incandescent lights, you'll need to use the smart diode kit designed for incandescent tail lights (RO94FR - sold separately) instead.

When installing this kit, you will need to add either a 4-way or 6-way round electrical connector to the front of your vehicle so you can connect to your RV when you're ready to tow. Use one of Roadmaster's coiled cable kits (RM-164-7 or RM-146-7 - sold separately) to get both the connector and the adapter cord needed for fast, easy hookup.

If your RV has separate tail light wiring, wherein the brake and turn signals run on separate wires, you'll need a wiring converter (RM-732 - sold separately) to complete this installation.

I ordered this back in June but had not opened the package until today when a friend was here to assist me with installing it. Unfortunately, it was missing the Insta-dapt Adapter and the hose clamps. I am sure I can use regular hose clamps but definitely need Instadapt Adapter. Would you please send that to me

Braking system worked great on my Jeep. We towed the vehicle on a 6000 mile journey this year. We were up and more importantly, down the Rocky Mountains and the braking system never failed us. Would definitely recommend.

2021 Jeep Cherokee

Good kit and etrailer installation video was fantastic. Install went well and was happy to have a helper when dealing with removal/reassembly of body parts.
On complaint that is directed at Roadmaster. They need to use some more appropriate self-tapping screws for taillight area. Metal is thin and self-tapping screws included are large and course threaded. The provided screws would not tighten up properly. I ended up needing to substitute some screws from my parts bin to get a good connection.

  • Does the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Fit a 2023 Jeep Wrangler
Yes, the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 does work for your 2023 Jeep Wrangler as long as you do not have park sense. This will allow you to use your Jeep Wrangler's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. If you do have park sense, you will want to use the Roadmaster Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes # RM47ZR.

  • Troubleshooting Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit Install Where Lights are Dim and Hyperflash
It sounds like there is some wiring issues going on with the diodes of the Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit part # RM47ZR or your Wrangler does not have the ParkSense feature. This is designed to convert the 12 volt signal from your RV to the 9 volt power that your 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited uses for it's taillight circuits so since you are seeing dim voltage which is usually associated with lower voltage than required to operate a light and hyperflashing my first thought is that something...

  • Parts Needed to Wire a Motorhome W/ Combined Lights to a Toad That Has Separate Lights
I did some research and what I believe is happening is that your motorhome has combined lighting and your Jeep has separate and the brake lights are overriding the turn signal lights. I contacted Roadmaster and they recommend to use the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 which include the diodes needed to fix the issue. I have attached a wiring diagram and an install video for you to refer to.

  • Does Standard Diode Wiring Kit Fit 2021 Jeep Wrangler For Flat Towing
Good question, and I checked with Roadmaster for you, and correct tow bar wiring diode kit will depend on if your 2021 Jeep Wrangler has the ParkSense proximity sensors or not. If it does have the ParkSense you will need the kit with smart diodes that ensures your tail lights get the proper voltage. The reason for that is Jeeps with ParkSense have variable voltage tail lights, which means two different voltages depending on if the signal is for braking or turning. So here is what you will...

  • How Can I Add A Charge Line To My 2023 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk?
It sounds like you have done your homework. You are correct that the smart diode kit # RM47ZR will be needed for your 2023 Trailhawk. This kit does not include a charge line. The good news is we carry a wiring kit specifically for this purpose # RM-156-25. If you already have your 6 pin socket, this kit is all you will need to run a charge from the coach. I have linked an install video below if you want to take a look.

The Roadmaster Smart Diode Kits # RM47ZR and # RM63MR are quite similar in that they both contain the same smart diodes, and wiring components. The difference is that the # RM63MR also comes with a 6-pin round plug for the front of the vehicle, as well as a coiled cable to connect the towed vehicle to the Rv 7-way plug. So unless you already have a 7 to 6 coiled cable and a 6-pin socket laying around, we recommend getting the # RM63MR, as it will come with everything you will need to wire...

In order for the taillights on your 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to operate in tandem with the taillights on your motorhome while flat towing, I'd recommend installing a diode system like the Roadmaster # RM47ZR if your Wrangler Unlimited has the ParkSense feature or # RM-15267 for vehicles not equipped with that feature. • How To Power A Third Brake Light With Diode Wiring While Flat Towing
The reason the third brake light isn't coming on is because the Roadmaster Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM47ZR is only being wired to the just the tail lights. To get the third brake light to activate you would need to splice in a jumper wire between the third brake light and the the "RV Brake In" on the diode. You would need an additional Smart Diode # RO54FR for the third brake light and essentially wire it the same as one of your tail lights....

  • Which Diode Tow Bar Lighting Kit for 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
You do not need to remove a trailer brake controller from a vehicle like your motorhome when flat towing a vehicle. The brake output circuit of the brake controller won't affect anything so it can be left as-is. The braking systems for towed vehicles do not go through the traditional trailer wiring like for example the Demco SBS DUO part # SM99251 which uses the brake light signal of the towed vehicle to engage it and then it's own inertia sensor to determine how hard it applies brake pedal...

These kits typically go on the smoothest without any major modifications required and they reused existing holes when they can.
