Some cars can be towed only if you get under the hood and pull a fuse or fuses. If you don't remove these fuses before towing, there's a good chance that your battery will be drained by the time you reach your destination.

Roadmaster's FuseMaster makes it easy to prep your vehicle for towing. Simply remove the fuses indicated in your owner's manual and replace them with the bypass. The system will hold the removed fuses and maintain their functionality. So, once the initial installation is complete, you don't have to remove or replace your fuses again.

Whenever you want to drive your car, just make sure the switch on the bypass is flipped into the "Drive" position. When the bypass system is on, the fuses will be active and your vehicle will function normally. Then, when it comes time to tow, switch the FuseMaster to "Tow." Doing this will render the fuses inactive so that you can flat tow your car without its battery being drained.

Installation

The preferred location for mounting the FuseMaster switch is the access panel inside your vehicle that leads to your fuse box. The switch must be mounted on a plastic surface that is no thicker than 1/4". Do not mount the switch on a metal surface. Drilling is required.

Roadmaster FuseMaster Switch

Included with the FuseMaster are 2 stickers: "Drive" and "Tow." Once the switch is installed, you can place the stickers on the access panel - one on each side of the toggle - to remind you which way the switch must go for each application. Place the "Drive" sticker on the side of the toggle that has the white dot. (To drive your car, the switch must be flipped so that the side with the white dot is depressed.) The "Tow" sticker can then be placed on the opposite side.

Works great so far, haven't towed the car but put the switch in tow mode and it worked as it should. put in drive mode and car started right up. The installation process is easy enough but there isn't much room around the fuse box to run additional wires.

by:

DOes the job.

by:

Receive the correct wiring harness after I informed etrailer that I had ordered the wrong part. Customer service is great. Will use them in the future

No longer RVing. The wiring harness is too short. It needs to be about 2 inches longer

by:

etrailer installed a complete Roadmaster RV towing system on my 2019 Chevrolet Sonic RT. Installation was very professionally done and have since towed the Sonic behind my Fleetwood Excursion about 5000 miles with no issues. My Sonic has a passive door looking feature (fob) which requires a Roadmaster on/off switch kit to eliminate having to pull fuses. The kit has two switches which are mounted on the dash and labeled Drive or Tow. On this model Sonic it is important that the switches are turned on/off in the right sequence as not to affect other computer controlled systems. The passive system was new in 2019 and with the help of etrailer and Roadmaster we were able to determine the sequence. I printed the sequence on a card that I keep in the glove box.

wiring harness was vey good

Not Happy this 78512 part number. It cost 85 dollars and even though Road Master could have furnished necessary fuses they did not. The 76511 kit comes with a fuse adapter which makes the installation easier and safer. After calling Road Master technical support directly and asking for the fuse adapters like provided for in the 76511 kit for the 78512 the tech stated the adapter was only used on CRV models. This was not true the installation video clearly shows these adapters were show to be installed on a Honda Fit 78511 part number install. I think these switch harnesses are wildly overpriced and dangerous the way the way they show installing them with installations that deal with low profile mini fuses. I have lost all faith in Road Master products. I think Road Master's tech support needs some retraining. I think etrailer should no longer handle these products. Still waiting for a return call from Road Master about purchasing the adapters as a separate item.

by:

The fuse bypass switch should be maybe $xx MAX - since it’s just a switch, some wire, a fuse socket and bits and pieces.I bought them figuring I should rely on Roadmaster expertise on manufacturing something that is better than what I could put together, but now that I’ve installed all the items, I think I could have just bought the parts and assembled them to work better than these items. The only issue I had with one item was that on the fuse bypass, the little metal prongs at the end of the two wires that you are supposed to plug into the fuse panel should have been a single two prong plug - the same size as a mini or micro fuse, because as single wires and prongs, there’s no way they’d stay plugged into the fuse block securely. I had to buy a couple of fuse “extender cables” and wire them up to the fuse bypass wires to make those work like a standard 2 prong mini or micro fuse works - they plug in as a single unit with two prongs.
Both of these issues - cost and single prong ends on the fuse bypass - I’ve seen mentioned in other reviews of these products, so I know etrailer is aware of your other customers complaints on these items. But what will anything be done about them? I doubt it.

by:

This is a great concept to solve this fuse pulling issue however I found the leads too short to work with properly. Combined with the fact that the leads where not the same length and that the connectors are almost impossible to install individually into the fuse panel I had to do some re-enginnering. It wasn't too hard to fix really. I simply purchased some ATM fuse jumpers and plugged your connector into it while out on the bench, then when I went to install it into the car I had a solid one piece connector to push into my cars fuse panel. For some who have easier access to the fuse panel these connectors might work fine for for any kind of tight location a single point fuse connection would be a big improvement.

by:

The lock has started to rust and is hard to unlock with the key even though I have kept the rubber keyhole cover in place to protect it.

by:

The only thing that could make this product better and easier to install would be for it to include a fuse-style plug for the wiring into the fuse box. ETrailer has done everything they can to clearly show what is involved with the installation, so I wasn't surprised, but Roadmaster could make the installation easier with just a little extra.

by:

This is not user friendly! I had to make an
Adapter to hold the small knife blades in the fuse holder in the fuse panel on my 2012 Honda CRV , also , with bypass switch in tow ,lights are still on the dash ?

by:

The order was shipped immediately and I received it within just a few days. The video on the website was very very helpful. I was able to install everything myself in just a few minutes, except I couldn't get the wires to connect in the fuse holder. I had to take it to a mechanic, and he trimmed back the insulation so the ends were long enough to be able to slide into the fuse box. Also I had trouble reaching one of the fuse connections in the fuse box. This was no fault of the product. Just my 70 year old body would bend in the right places so I could reach it, and my 70 year old eyes had trouble seeing up close. I haven't towed the car yet, but apparently everything is working as it should.

by:

Very handy, installation on buick envision required shortening protective sheath due to tight space around fuse block.

by:

excellent products that i had purchased from etrailer. i like the ease of operating the tow products and especially the great job that etrailer did in installing the tow products from the motorhome and to the tow vehicle . etrailer was very professional in everything that they did.

by:

Fairly easy to install and works as intended clear instructions really helped. Installed on 2019 Buick Envision

by:

Perfect. Great installation video. Works as advertised.

by:

I had a mechanic put this on my 2014 Honda CRV. Works great not one problem after one year and 5000 mikes.

by:

Good instructions, the leads could have been longer, if there's a choice, get the kit with longer leads.

by:

The directions were clear and applied to my specific vehicle. Successfully installed in a reasonable time. Happily traveled many miles without grief.
Thank you

by:

It is exactly what I ordered. Installed easily and works great

by:

Works as advertised but a little difficult to install.

by:

Works as advertised - no issues!

by:

Easy for one person to install. Quality product

by:

They got me my purchase to me in 3-4 days even though I used the free shipping.

by:

Third Order from here. Always above average. Two arrived a day early. Sales staff was above being polite. Oh and yes I will be back.

  • Is A Breakaway Switch Required When Flat Towing A 2014 Honda CR-V

The laws vary state to state so you may not possibly be required to have a breaking system and breakaway switch.
