Is this right for you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:

Yes, if you:

  • Like a solid, simple hitch that works well and won't break the bank
  • Use your truck bed for other things and want to take out the hitch often - this is one of the lighter sliders
  • Have a dually truck or aren't super tall and like having longer handles to make it easier to throw open the jaws and operate the slider

No, if you:

  • Tow frequently or over long distances and want a smooth, quiet ride
  • Use a tonneau cover often and don't want to have to take out the hitch to close it
  • Go around tight corners often and want a slider that moves easily every time

  • Reese
  • Above Bed Rails
  • Double Pivot
  • Standard - Double Jaw
  • 15 - 18 Inch Tall

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Square-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Square-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

I give etrailer 1 star I would like to give them no stars (less than poor) for this transaction. I received this hitch Thursday 2/10/2022 the box was in a very tattered condition. I opened the box on the next day Friday 2/11/2022 it appeared that the box did not contain all of the pieces for the hitch, looking at the box it showed that there should have been 2 boxes, I received box 1 of 2. I called and spoke with someone at etrailer they informed me that UPS had damaged the second box in shipping, and that they had returned box 2 of 2 to etrailer. I was never informed by UPS or etrailer of what had taken place. I never received any notification that the first box had been delivered. The only correspondence that I have received was an email from Carol C informing me that she was notified that my order had been delivered, she also sent me this link for me to write a review. I have been told by the person that I had spoken to that my missing parts to my hitch would be shipped. It is now 2/14 I still have not received any notification of my parts being shipped, or when I will receive them.

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

Comments
By the way I didnt have to cut my heat shield or remove my exhaust pipe when installing the custom rail kit.

Great,Just put the hitch in again last weekend ready for the bush and mosquitoes.

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

by:

Quick delivery hitch required minor assembly it was open box but looked like new. Works great very pleased with purchase.

Comments
After a year of use this hitch is still like new. I am still very happy with this purchase

I received the Reese 5th wheel 16,000 lb slider hitch from etrailer in June 2019; installed it in July 2019. Took around five hours to install the base rail kit and Reese hitch start to finish. So far so good, this heavy duty slider hitch works flawlessly with my F250/fifth wheel combo. It arrived in multiple boxes, had excellent instructions and an operating manual. For myself and other do-it-yourselfers, etrailer provides excellent support and installation videos to help with the install.

by:

Instructions are very good, all parts came with the hitch and were well protected.
This is the first time I've ever put one of these hitches together so I read the instruction thorough.
There was some lubrication that was required.
It took me 1 1/2 hours.
The only thing I can add is when installing the upper handle for the release pin, it had burrs on the inside of the handle and made it difficult to slide onto the tube.
Make sure you check for burrs and deburr before installing. I would still give them 5 stars.

by:

The box arrived with an email from your company stating that the carrier UPS had put in a claim for damages. The shipping box was torn open on each end, I did not even try to open the cardboard box for fear I would not be able to send it back. The shipment is sitting on my front porch exactly where UPS left it.

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

by:

Everything came when expected. Easy to assemble with very detailed instructions. I was missing 1 part but a call and an emailed picture was quickly handled and resolved. I have not been disappointed with etrailer.

by:

Ordered the Reese 16K square tube slider on Wednesday and received it on Friday even using the free shipping. That is a remarkable delivery on any product especially a very heavy 5th wheel hitch. Assembly requires only a few basic tools. Took my time and within a couple of hours had it installed and ready to use. Bed rails were already installed.

Comments
Have towed my 36 Cedar Creek 5th wheel about 600 miles with the hitch. No problems. Does what it is designed to do. You can spend more if you wish but this is a good solid hitch. Also would recommend etrailer.com to anyone as the place to buy. Keep up your great service.

This is a great hitch. I've been using it for a year now and have had no problems with it.

Being a first time 5th wheel owner and After researching for the right 5th wheel hitch for my 2011 ext cab chevy Z71 4wd. and the best prices i went with the reese 16 K slider hitch. A must for a 6 1/2 ft bed.
And etrailer had the best price and were very helpful answering all my questions
The hitch arrived in 3 days,
One of the 2 boxes was a little torn up but nothing was damaged,
The instructions were great, and it had more than enough hardware needed for different apps.
I had 2. choices for the mounting brackets,I went with the custom fit not the universal the custom brackets are strong and fit perfect.
I watched a couple install videos online, there were not many on my truck people said you have to cut out your exhaust and your heat shield and drop the gas tank.I did not have to drop my gas tank i just slightly bent down the heat shield to reach above it then pushed it back up.
I used the Allen button head bolt for the left front and had my wife spin the bolt with a long extension and ratchet while I held the nut and washers with a magnet and my finger tips,it was kind of a (pima) and took a little time but way better than dropping my tank.
I did call Reese with a couple questions and suggested to use stronger shipping boxes.
The only thing I had to adjust was the support for the parking brake cable.
I did the hole job on the ground in my yard
This also was a good time I replaced my rear brakes, checked my spare tire psi,and llubed my cable for the spare lift.
Every one was verry nice and helpful from etrailer and Reese.
I wish I was better with computers and could of made a video

Comments

Overall the product seems to be good quality. The instructions could be a lot more clear. After calling Reese, even the guy on the phone agreed that the spacers provided should be shown as going in above or below the bed. Unfortunately with the size of the U spacers provided, there would be no way to get the nut on the length of bolt sent. Also there were lock washers in the package which the CS rep didn't know what they were for either. Finally, the cotter pins provided are weak, 2 broke already and the handle to adjust the slider didn't have holes drilled for the cotter pin to keep it in place so i just drilled it myself. As a side note, the way the pins lock it in to make it removable, it has quite a bit of play which you can then hear when backing up or starting off.. Using on a Ford F250 2015 6-3/4 bed, pulling a FR 33BHOK (about 11k loaded).

Installation pictures.

by:

I'm very happy with the product, service and price. I originally had a used non sliding Reece fifth wheel hitch installed in my 6 1/2 ft. Tundra Bed. It didn't have enough clearance for backing into some spots and my new truck cab got dented ($1,700 repair bill). This sliding fifth wheel is the answer, very easy to install on same bed rails.

BTW etrailer doesn't recommend a non sliding fifth wheel for my truck. Smart.

by:

Fast shipping product arrived as expect ed

by:

Installation directions were a great help, very descriptive.

by:

I finally got the hitch installed. Everything went great, thanks again for the great service.

by:

Useless hitch all the time has not failed me yet ,seems very well built

by:

Works as advertised. Assembly directions very poor. Extra parts included that just confused installation. There was NO reference to these extra parts.

Comments
Great! wish I had bought sooner. Much easier to hook and unhook. Allows easier access to front 5th wheel compartment.

by:

Fast shipping, a couple small spacers were missing from parts, luckily I had somethings laying around that worked. Went together fairly easily with only minor changes to brackets. Couldn’t beat the price here locally.

by:

This is one of the BEST online purchase experience to date.
The items shipped fast, is tightly packaged, and email notification during shipping was accurate and timely.
I will surely use etrailer for all my RV needs in the future!
Thank you!

I currently have a 2014 GMC 2500 four door short bed and I am going to replace the Husky 15K 5th wheel unit I have because the head on the unit doesnt have the pivoting motion I would like to have for unhooking and hooking up on unlevel ground. My rails are the Reese RP5066-58 and the center points where the hitch fits into the rails is 22 from front to back on each side as you are looking at the unit. What I am looking at is purchasing the RP30051 5th wheel hitch but I was wondering if the 22 center points that my rails currently have will work without having to re-drill and move them. If this unit isnt compatible with the 22 centers can you let me know what distance it requires and if there is another unit that may fit better let me know that also, thanks

Fifth wheel showed up sooner then expected. Everything that said was going to be there was there along with some extra parts the instructions didn't really explain hopefully they weren't needed. Excellent experience and will definitely order again.

  • My 5th Wheel Hitch Has Small Gap on Jaws When Connected to King Pin
The jaws on 5th wheel hitches like your Reese # RP30051 aren't going to be perfectly circular and actually have a slight elliptical shape to them. Due to this elliptical shape the jaws will not completely close around the pin when hooked up to the trailer and a small gap is common. A gap of approximately 1/8 of an inch is well within in tolerance limits. If you have this small gap, and the handle is properly secured as you have mentioned then you should be good to go. They are both free floating with dual locking jaws but the Pro Series hitch offers height adjustments from 14-1/4" - 17" and the Reese hitch offers height adjustments from 15" - 18". The Reese hitch also comes with a lifetime warranty whereas the Pro Series hitch comes with a ten year warranty.

  • What is Difference Between Pin Weight and Payload Capacity for 2007 Chevy Silverado
So payload capacity is different from the pin weight capacity of a fifth wheel trailer since payload is basically the weight capacity of the truck bed and the pin weight capacity is the capacity of the frame since the hitch doesn't use the bed as support and attached directly to the truck frame. So you are totally fine to tow your 7,500 lb trailer with your 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500.

  • What Style of Fifth Wheel Hitch is Ideal for Short Bed Truck
The Draw Tite hitch 6001 is an older fixed fifth wheel hitch. That means that it's going to be ideal for long bed trucks. Short bed trucks need slider hitches to allow them the needed clearance to make tight turns. If you have a short bed truck a slider hitch will be a much better option. The hitch can be slid back when making sharp turns which allows more turning clearance. A hitch like the Reese part # RP30051 will give you the clearance you'd need to make tight turns when slid back.
