The folks at etrailer go out of their way to make the customer happy. I ordered several things at one time including a trailer ball for a new hitch assembly. The ball wasn't included in the package even though the package was intact and not damaged. I contacted etrailer and without hesitation they issued a refund on my credit card which I consider great service. Also, I had just purchased a new motorhome and was having difficulty finding the built-in brake controller wiring. I contacted etrailer and they provided sufficient information for me to locate it without any further trouble.

by:

The part performed as it should without modification.

by:

Used thus to replace the shank that came with my Recure R3. I have a trailer that is high off the ground and needed a larger shank.

by:

Sells was helpful and friendly. Ordering quick and easy. Shipment was fast. I will definitely purchase from the Etrailer again.

by:

Fast shipping and item as described. The box and wrapping it was shipped in should have been better suited for the weight of the shank. The delivery person said he had to treat is carefully to make sure it did not completely fall apart. As a result the finish on the shank is very scratched.

by:

Heavy duty, looks like it will work per fectly.

by:

The weight distribution hitch and dual cam sway control were installed on a 2005 F250 pulling a 2003 Jayco "toy hauler".
The instructions were very easy to read and understand making assembly and adjustments easy.
The only complaint I have...A $500 hitch shouldn't have chips of paint missing and all "scuffed" up when it arrives!

by:

Very well-made item. However, I had to return it as it was too short. It left me with the drop about 1 inch too short to put the WD hitch platform at the right height. I'm using this to refit the drop on a WD hitch to accomodate a new truck that sits 4 inches higher. I need a total of a 6 inch drop. This one only provide a 5 inch drop for my particular hitch. There was no way, from the information provided, that I would have been able to make that determination. I *though* it would work OK, but it cost me $23 to find out that I was wrong. Not e-trailer's fault. Caveat emptor.

The return process was very straightforward and they make it easy for you, although do note that the return shipping ($23) is at your own expense. The packaging for shipment is fairly good, but this is a heavy box with no packing, Inevitably, the careless handling endemic to UPS leads to tears in the box with parts of the item exposed, and therefore scuffed. They told me that in the return process they could differentiate installation marks from shipping marks. We'll see.

I purchased a Reese drop style hitch to tow our vintage trailer. The etrailer price was so much less than locally I had to order it. The hitch is heavy duty with perfect welds and it was delivered quickly.

by:

Great quality, perfect for connecting my rather tall Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 to my Reese 66072 Strait-Line 600# Trunnion weight distribution hitch system on a travel trailer. I've installed it in the down position, and the drop measured approximately 4" with that system in the center position (top of the receiver to bottom of the ball). This allows for moving up or down 1.25" from that drop (there are a total of 3 positions available with the trunnion bolt pattern).

The shank is cast, fits the receiver very tightly, and also fits in the trunnion system snugly. The welds on this casting are beautiful, and appear to have been heat treated and ground smooth. Very high quality.

eTrailer as always provided fast and friendly correspondence and shipped within moments of my placing the order. Arrived well packaged and on time.

by:

After 50,000 trouble-free miles pulling my 24' enclosed trailer with the help of a Pro Series RB3 weight distribution kit from etrailer.com, I took delivery of a new pick-up truck. The hitch receiver on the new truck is two inches higher than my old hitch receiver. I contacted etrailer.com Tech Support and they set me up with the RP3215 shank, which gives me the additional drop necessary to use my RB3 weight distribution kit with my new truck.

by:

Etrailer & phone rep. was excellent. This Reese WDH shank #RP3215, arrived on schedule (necessary for planned trip). Had I had more time and/or the rep mentioned... I would have investigated another brand as this was considerably more costly than others. That said, it's well made and fits perfectly with the other Reese WDH parts.

by:

Best price I could find and it arrived on time as promised. I have not tested hitch yet but installation was no problem. I also installed weight distribution hitch purchased previously. Road trip soon.

by:

Product was exactly as described .
Needed
for 2509 Ram to get weight distribution hitch set for my camper.
etrailer had the best price!

by:

Very heavy duty and I don't have trouble getting my trailer to the appropriate height now. Matches my weight distribution system very well.

by:

This product rp3215 gave me the drop I needed with a well designed and made item. It's stout and has enough length for sharp turns. Fit my Reese wd hitch perfect. Time will tell but it looks like it will do. Thanks Etrailer for prompt and friendly service.

by:

drop hitchI needed more drop for the distribution hitch on my lifted chevy so I looked online a found this site had the cheapest price. I ordered it during the holiday season and couldn't believe how fast I received it. I got emails all along the way telling me the status of my order and tracking information. I even got an email telling me it should of arrived. I couldn't of been happier with my first experience. I look forward to ordering more products in the future.

by:

I had put a 2" leveling kit on my F250 the trailer was to high on the truck so I had bought a longer shank to put the trailer back to level the product worked great for my application , fast delivery...

by:

The product is exactly as described and works perfect with my drop bracket.

The measurements are exactly as shown and worked perfect for my lifted truck and it is very strong with the gusset properly sized to resist flexing when pulling a 10,000 lb trailer.

by:

The product is exactly as represented and works very well. I have had 3 orders with etrailer and the company is excellent to work with. They provide honest and accurate answers to product questions. I plan to purchase all of my trailer related products from them.

by:

Exactly what I needed. My new vehicle had the hitch receiver much higher than the old one, so I had to get a different shank. Katie D. asked lots of good questions so she could verify that I was getting the correct part for my application. It is now in use and working great.

by:

great craftsmanship. Good welds and rounded gussets to minimize stresses on the part. The finish has a nice powder coat. The best part was etrailer's shipping speed; 3 days to the door on a free shipping offer.
Thx.

by:

I needed a little more hitch drop. I loosely fitted the hitch on to the shank and it seems like it will be exactly what I was needing. Appears to be quality built.

by:

The shank has worked out for us. On tight turns our jack was rubbing on the back of our tow vehicle. The additional length of the stinger has eliminated that problem.

by:

Needed the addition drop to level the trailer & TV. The Reese unit performs as expected

  • What are the Dimensions of the 11 inch Weight-Distributing Shank
I went out to our warehouse and measured the 11- inch Weight-Distributing Shank, item # RP3215, for you. On the shank from the top to the bottom, on the side with the adjustment holes, the measurement is 12 inches overall. On this same part of the shank, the holes are 1-1/4 inches on center, starting from the bottom of the shank, and 4-1/2 inches from the top hole center to the shank top. On the other end of the shank, the hitch pin hole is 3-1/4 inches on center from the back of the shank...

  • Looking for Weight Distribution Shank to Provide 12 Inches of Rise
If the level trailer coupler height is greater than the height of the receiver on your Grand Cherokee, you will need a weight distribution shank with a rise. The closest I can get you to 12 inches of rise would be the 11-1/2 inches of rise provided by the # RP3215. The RP3344 is designed for use in the drop position only. The towing capacity of your vehicle can vary widely depending on the engine/transmission combo. Be sure to consult your owners manual to ensure you are not exceeding...

  • Do I Need a Ball Mount with a Rise or Drop on Ford F150 when Towing a 20ft Starcraft RV
There really is no normal or standard height. The correct height for your ball mount/weight distribution shank is going to be determined by your trailer's coupler height. The trailer, when connected to your Ford F150, should always be as level as possible. This puts less of a strain on the connection between the trailer and hitch and provides a much safer and comfortable ride. You will want to measure from the ground to the top of your hitch receiver opening. Next you will measure from...

  • What Should the Wheel Well Measurements on a Vehicle Once Weight Distribution System has Been Set up
You will want the measurement from the front and back wheel wells to be almost the same as they were before you connected a trailer. You will want the measurements to be within 1/2 an inch of being what they were. Since the difference on your setup is 1 inch you will need to reduce the number of chain links between the spring bars and lift brackets until you get that additional 1/2 inch. You may have to angle the head of your weight distribution system back if your bars are pointed too...

  • How To Choose New Weight Distribution Shank with More Drop
In order to choose the correct weight distribution system shank you'll need to find out how much rise/drop you need. The Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP3215 has up to 5-3/4" of drop. The shank is what is going to provide the drop you are needing, not the head or hitch ball. You didn't give me any specs on your trailer though so I can't really recommend a WD hitch. • Will Reese Weight Distribtution Shank RP3215 Work for Setup that Needs 5 inches of Drop
Yes, the part # RP3215 would be a great option for a shank for your weight distribution setup. Getting within 1/2 an inch of level will be close enough. Especially when you consider that you would be 1/2 inch on the higher side for the nose of the trailer. The suspension of your vehicle will settle slightly with the tongue weight of your trailer so this will put you right where you need to be.
