Today on our 2013 Chevy Silverado, we'll be installing the Reese quick-install custom base rails with install kit, part number RP50066-58. Note: We've already gone ahead and lowered or removed the spare tire and both rear wheels for easier access and installation. We'll go ahead and move to the bed with one of the base rails. Using our tape measure, and measuring from the end of bed and not the tailgate, we'll set our base rail into position. Then we'll check it from side to side to make sure we're even from side to side in the bed. Once we have it measured out as per the instructions, using a paint stick, we'll go ahead and mark the attachment holes.
Theyll be the second hole from the outside edge on all four corners. Now with it marked, I'm going to go ahead and use a half-inch drill bit to find the center of the hole. Once we find the center of the hole and go through the spray and bed liner in this application, and down to the metal, we can then take our 1/8-inch pilot bit and drill all the way through. Next I'm going to remove the spare tire rock guard. This will help us to gain easier access underneath.
There are two fasteners that secure it. We'll go ahead and remove those fasteners, and then drop the rock guard down and out of the way. Now, to gain easier access to the hardware here on the passenger's side for the rear base rail, using a cutoff tool, we're going to go ahead and cut out a portion of the heat shield. We'll simply trace out a section and then cut it out. To be on the safe side, I recommend to relocate the wiring here on the inside of the frame rail.
We'll simply unlock the red locking tab, then press on the connector lock, removing it and rerouting it for the time being. We're going to go ahead and cut out a portion of the heat shield. We'll move outside the vehicle and use the custom side bracket, and put it into place on both the driver and passenger's side. As we hold them in place, we'll look up through our predrilled holes to make sure they're centered on the attachment point of our custom side brackets. Now that we're confident that our hole's in the correct position, we'll go ahead and move the base rail out of the way and enlarge it as per the instructions.
We'll be using a step-bit process, enlarging in bit size until we get to our final size of 9/16. Now with all our holes drilled out, we'll go ahead and put the base rail back into place. Now, to put our side bracket in place we'll be using a new 5/8 carriage bolt, 5/8 spacer block, 5/8 conical-tooth washer and nut. We'll use the 5/8 pull wires provided with our install kit to help get our hardware into the frame and into position. First we'll take the pull wire and feed it through the attachment point at the frame that lines up with our side bracket. Then we'll go inside the frame and out the access hole on the inside of the frame. There we can slide on our block and thread on the carriage bolt. We'll feed the block and bolt into the frame and then pull them into position, leaving the pull wire in place at this time. Now go ahead and repeat the same process for our second attachment point. Now with both carriage bolts in place, we can go ahead and side the side bracket on by feeding the pull wires through the attachment points and bringing the side bracket up against the frame. We'll them remove the pull wire, install the conical-tooth washer, teeth of the washer facing the side bracket, and secure it with the nut. We'll do this for both attachment points. Now with both attachment points secured, we'll go ahead and repeat the same process on the other side. Next we'll go ahead and install the hardware for the rear base rail to secure it to the side bracket. We'll go ahead and drop the 2-inch carriage bolts down through the attachment point and through the holes drilled in the bed. Note for this application: we'll need to install the u-shaped spacer blocks between the side bracket and the underbody of the bed. This will ensure that we dont smash the bed corrugation. To secure it we'll be using the conical-tooth washer, teeth of the washer facing the bottom of the bed, then a split-lock washer and a 1/2-inch nut. Now with all our fasteners secured finger tight, we're ready to begin installing the front base rail. Using our fifth-wheel assembly as a template, we'll go ahead and put it into position on the rear base rail and then side the front base rail into place underneath the fifth-wheel assembly. Now that it's in place, we'll go ahead and mark out our attachments points for the front base rail. Using our paint stick again, we'll be using the outside attachment points for this base rail. Once again I'll use my 1/2-inch bit to mark each attachment point's center point of the hole. Then will go ahead and drill them out. For this application, because our attachment point is in the valley of the bed corrugation, we'll need to set the U-shaped space blocker in position so that we dont crush the bed corrugation when we tighten it down. Then repeating the same process, we'll drop our carriage bolts into place and secure it with the hardware again, the conical-tooth washer, split-lock washer and nut. Next we'll begin tightening down our hardware. We'll start by tightening down the base rail hardware first, and then the side bracket hardware. Once we have everything tightened down, we can then torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications, we can go ahead and draw two more attachment points for the base rails. These will be the very center attachment points on the front edge for each base rail. Using our 1/2-inch bit, we'll go straight down through the attachment point and through the bed. Then we'll install an additional 1/2-inch carriage bolt, conical-tooth washer, split-lock washer and nut to secure them directly to the bed. With all of our hardware in place, we can how go ahead and tighten and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with all our hardware secured and torqued to specifications, we can go ahead and reinstall the wiring that we disconnected on the passenger's side frame rail, our rock guard. Now with everything reinstalled, we'll go ahead and show you how the new fifth-wheel assembly interacts with the Reese quick-install custom base rails and install kit. We'll put the fifth-wheel assembly into position on the base rails. We'll slide our pins into position and then clip them down. Now, because this application is a sliding fifth-wheel assembly, we'll go ahead and unlock it and slide it out of the way to install our second set of pins. Now with all four pins and clips in position, securing the fifth-wheel to the base rails, we'll go ahead and show you how this head assembly works. We'll use the handle and the dial indicator to mark whether the slide assembly is in the maneuvered and trailered position. Starting in the trailered position, we'll go ahead and unlock the slider assembly, slide it backwards, and then relock the handle into the maneuvering position. Then, once we want to go back to the tow position, we'll simply unlock the handle and slide it back towards the cab, and relock the handle into the towed position. To lock and unlock the head assembly, simply pull out on the handle and slide slightly towards the cab to lock it in the open position. Once your fifth-wheel is in place, to relock the jaw, we'll simply slide the handle forward and help it spring back into place, and then install the padlock supplied with the install kit. Now with our fifth-wheel locked down, we're ready to hit the road, and that does it for the install of our Reese quick-install custom base rails, part number RP50066-58 on our 2013 Chevy Silverado. .

Custom brackets reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Brackets, base rails and hardware included. The installation instructions were detailed and clear. Did it by myself in about 4 hours. Inexpensive solution if you didn't get the 5th wheel prep package.
Received the product the very next day shipping was excellent. Boxes were well taped and secured and complete. This was installed on a 2011 Silverado 2500 HD with a 8 foot bed . My installation was straightforward ,followed the included directions , and it installed very easy. I only have two suggestions ,
Get the spare tire down and out-of-the-way and do whatever is necessary to get around the heat shield. I just cut a small section of mine away . I have done business with etrailer for about five years now. I use to price check and order everywhere off the Internet. I don't do that anymore because I always ended up back doing business with etrailer.com.
For four reasons ... Best price around, quality products, great customer service from a live person, well packaged products with the fast shipping
Installed on 2017 chevy 2500. Square washers for the 5/8 bolts were to big to fit through the acess holes in pickup frame. I had to fish them through a bigger hole further up the frame rail. Other than that, excellent products. Once I found etrailer, its the only place I shop for trailer products
Fast shipping!! Installed on a new 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali. Only issue was the exhaust heat shield.. It must be removed for easier access to install hardware. It takes about 3 hours to install with one person. Otherwise no issues. E Trailer is great to do business with!! Thank you
Hooked this up myself with my son. Took our time and had no issues. The directions were excellent and walked us through every step. Very happy with the purchase.
Why can't you show my review because your company is wrong maybe new management is needed
I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.
Was great doing first time order here was suprised how quick they shipped it
I purchased fifth wheel hitch rails. They were worked great. We certainly put them through a strong test. Unfortunately we got stuck on a very muddy, greasy road on a hunt. The fifth wheel was leaning at an angle but the rails held! I was extremely relieved and happy that they did. Thank you etrailer.
Very good product superior packaging super fast shipping
Kit was pretty easy to install. Definitely watch the video. Some of the bolts are in tight spaces. Overall very good kit. Well constructed.
Rail kit was great and etrailer was great with fast and free shipping.
Only advice: I installed this kit on my 2014 Chevrolet 3500 and I would not do it again.
I'd spend the extra money and get the RP56001-53 kit...much much easier to install
If you have time and patience, it's worth the savings. Otherwise save yourself the tight quarters of trying to get to those bolts above the frame rails.
I suspect this kit was an earlier design that was or should have been superseded by the later one.
Although the Rails won't be installed until my new truck comes in mid April, I fully expect the product to be as advertised. I was recommended to your site and product by salesman from major manufacturer of the 5th Wheel Hitch currently used.

Has been a year and Product has worked out just fine !!
Fast shipping, all good, no problems
Excelent product. Made the install much easier than it needed to be. The video helped a lot. Access to some of the bolts were very difficult (ones above the gas tank). Dropping the spare tire made it easier. Biggest problem was removing the heat shield as on my truck the darn Torx screws stripped. I ended up cutting most of the heat shield off. Bottom line, this is a great product, very heavy duty and very versatile.

Still working great.
Hi Carol.
I got the package. I hope to install next week. I’m also looking to put a 5th wheel electrical plug in the bed. 2019 Chevy 3500 with the factory prep for the wiring harness. Do you have a correct fit kit to do this?

We do offer a 5th wheel wiring harness for your 2019 Silverado 3500. Id recommend the Hopkins # 41157, which you can see by using the link provided below. The harness plugs inline right behind the 7-way installed on your trucks rear bumper, between the trucks factory harness and the existing 7-way.

Excellent product. Installation of washers and nut on front passenger rail under bed a little difficult. Probably worth the extra cost to buy the outboard brackets and longer rails. Removal of spare tire required.

Thanks for your review, Ron. We note that removal or lowering of the spare tire is only temporary.
Rail Mounting kit arrived in perfect condition, with all required attachment hardware and special bolt insertion tool. All items fit up as advertised on my 2019 GMC 2500HD std bed Sierra. Completely satisfied.

After a year since installation and several trips with my 5th wheel, Im still completely satisfied with this rail mounting kit, It has operated perfectly with my Andersen Ultimate Rail Mount Hitch.
This was a nice product easy to install.
The hitch works good the only thing is it is hard to unlock because the jaws are tight. Other than that had no problems.

If the jaws are difficult to unlock, youll want to make sure the hitch has been lubricated according to the operating instructions. Also, if the fifth wheel and the hitch arent both level, the pin box may be applying some force to the jaws, causing them to bind. Moving the vehicle a bit will usually allow the hitch to unbind.
Great product! Everything fit as it should. Customer service was great they help the entire way even when ups lost part of the shipment!
The rail kit installation went smoothly. I did the complete installation alone just to see if I could complete it without any assistance from anyone. (The installation honestly took me about eight hours which included quite a few breaks!) The only difficult task for me was installing the two nuts and washers on the front two bolts on the LH Frame Bracket due to the tight clearance around the large diesel fuel tank on my truck. As some of other folks mentioned, removing the spare tire and exhaust system heat shield are a must for installing the rail kit this model truck. The quality of the components is excellent. My wife and I will be pulling our 5th Wheel to the Georgia Mountains with this hitch this weekend!
ordered this with the titan reese hitch
package came quickly and intact via ups
easy to install; great instructions and on-line video

Both good, happy with the product
These rails were a perfect fit on my previously used 5th wheel hitch. I am installing them myself on my 2016 GMC 3500 Sierra. However, the time it has taken, has been longer than advertised. I am stuck with three unreachable bolts. I am 63 years old with arthritis, so it is a challenge. I am very pleased with the service that e-trailer has provided me on instructions. With them, Installing the rails is a straight forward project even for this rookie. I am not pleased with the box that the rails were shipped in. It was too large a box and the rails tore the box apart. The bag of ten bolts, nuts, washers and spacers was also ripped open. Fortunately all was accounted for.
I really appreciated the very informative videos etrailer provided for the install on my 2015 Silverado 2500. I was able to focus my efforts on the high degree of manual dexterity required to mount the rails to my truck without the assistance of a lift. It was a very rewarding experience and I was shocked to learn the positions I could get my aging body into under that truck.
Couple of Tips from me to the next guy:
1) Use electrical tape on lead wire coil and bolt. Too nerve racking pulling on that wire and hoping it wasn't going to yank free of the bolt.
2) When you go to install the washer, lockwasher, nut combination, put a piece of duct tape over the hole in the top of the frame. When (not if) you drop the nut it will bounce off the tape rather than making the nothing but net swishing sound on it's way into your truck frame.
Really solid hitch. I'm very satisfied with the purchase.
