Today we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Power Pin Lock Plates. These are designed to fit 1/2-inch pull pins. Part number is RP58093. We're here in the back of our truck. We've already taken care of three of our connection points. We're going to finish up our 4th one here.
A common problem some people have is securing their 5th wheel in the bed of their truck. Of course, we're got our push pins or our pull pins that come through and we've got our clips to hold it in place. That's not exactly what we're talking about. But to keep them secure, to keep them from somebody who happened to see it, "Man, I could use a 5th wheel," pull it out of your truck, to keep them locked in place. To do that we've got the Reese Pin Lock Plates. These are going to replace our clip.
We're simply going to place the larger part of the opening around our push pin and then we'll slide it to where our push pin's resting right in there. We'll place it right over our pin. Now, you'll want the thinner portion to be facing the bed of the truck or be down toward the bed of the truck and simply slide it over. We can then take a lock. This is a set of four keyed alike blocks. We're got four connection points so it was a good fit.
We'll just bring that through and lock it. As you can see there now, nobody is going to be able to pull our pins without first unlocking the lock. With our 5th wheel secure, that's going to complete today's look at the Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th wheel trailer hitches, part number RP58093. .

Secure your fifth-wheel hitch to its base rails with these plates. Insert the pin that holds your hitch in place through one part of the plate and add a padlock (sold separately) next to it. Prevents removal of the pins and, therefore, the hitch. These Reese pin locking plates are awesome. Before these I was using a cable to secure my 5th wheel hitch to the truck bed. Small point: two of the plates had a ding, one of which was sharp (image), but a few seconds with a file took care of that.
Great idea. Gives me piece of mind because I don’t always have the time or a place to store the 5th wheel when m not using it.
Store all off plates when not in use on the pin and locked to keep it from getting lost.
I purchased both the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs - C16120, and Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Qty 4 - RP58093 for my F350 SD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'm pulling a 30' Retro 5th. Wheel and at times I pull my tandem axle UTV Trailer (Double Trailers) . I already had the rails installed in my truck, this fit right in and I used the new Pins and Lock Plates for securing to truck. I have pulled all over from South Dakota and the Northwest. The Hitch has performed Flawlessly. No bucking, nor clunking. Very quiet and smooth ride. I would recommend this set up to anyone for convenience of Hook up and Disconnect, Excellent towing, quiet, and the security of the lock pins. I use Disc locks to prevent access for bolt cutters.
I just installed my 5th wheel hitch in my 2014 Ram 2500 diesel and wanted to lock the hitch assembly to the (bed) rails to prevent it being stolen. In my previous Ram I had a locking hitch pin but the body of the lock barely cleared the rails that mounted in the bed of the truck. On my new rails the old hitch lock would not clear at all (guess the new rails are a bit thicker). Using these Reese Lock Plates you can insert a hitch pin and install a pad lock with ease! These are simple but effective. I highly recommend these for locking your fifth-wheel to the bed of your truck or for a standard bumper hitch application.
After an attempt to steal the hitch off my fifth wheel I chose Etrailer to find locks. I have ordered before and had very good luck and quick service. These products work great.
Great product! Easy to install! Very secure!
Nice to know my hitch is safe when I'm not around.
I used two of the Reese pull pin plates/locks on the pins that secure the hitch to the rails and two on the pins that connect the top and bottom of the hitch together.
I also used a lock on the handle so it can't be turned and disengage my bar.
Thanks eTrailer for carrying such awesome products
They work, but they didn't design them very well. For example, why is one side of the hole wider than the other? I don't see a reason for this.
I had a problem with the original pins.
The keeper came off while towing.
These Resses pul pin locks solve that problem plus added bounus you do not have to worry about someone taking your hitch off.
Well made and easy to use .
I highly recommend.
I wanted something that could easily lock my 5th wheel hitch to the rails in the bed of my truck, without having to purchase four specialty locks & keys, that can be expensive
These lock plates do exactly what was described. They slip over the end of the 1/2" pins and with a standard small lock, does not allow the pin to be removed from the hitch or truck rails.
After ordering, received them in just a couple of days and etrailer had the best price.
These work as advertised. I had problems with my clip pins popping out and wanted the extra security of knowing that someone will not be able to walk out with my hitch.
Locks worked pretty well. For my 5th wheel application using a rather large padlock, I bent the locks slightly to allow the padlock to be installed. Works great. No more worries about pins coming loose nor someone removing pins while stopped.
Just what I was looking for too secure my 5th wheel hitch.
Because the rails of my fifth wheel hitch are almost flush with the bed of my truck, these lock plates were the only item I found that I could use to place a lock to secure my hitch from theft.
These are the perfect solution for making your 5th wheel hitch theft proof.
eTrailer is now my go-to place for RV and truck towing needs. Their prices are usually the most competitive, but if not, they offer customer service that is beyond measure. As a former small business owner, I will pay more for this type of service any day. If they recommend an item I will never doubt it, this item included. The lock clips are very heavy duty and will be perfect to secure my rig hitch. Give eTrailer your business and you will never be disappointed that you did.
Product works as advertised. My Reese 5W hitch is now secured to the bed rails, (although you will need to buy your own padlocks). Excellent pricing from etrailer.com and the product arrived quickly!
Installed these on my Reese 22K hitch. They fit the pins securing the hitch to the rails, also fit the pins securing the hitch head to the pivot bar, but there's not enough room on the pins that secure the pivot bar to the uprights. I used Master Locks that have a 1.5" tall x 1/4" diameter shackle and they fit fine, a 5/16" or 3/8" shackle would fit snugger and should work, the standard length shackle is all you need.
Ordered on Sun evening. Received shipping confirmation Monday prior to 8 am with tracking info. Talk about a fast response, Amazing. Tracking number was sent and package was on its way that morning, again, amazing. Received items well packed and very quickly. Lock plates will keep everything where it should be and from being stolen. Great AAAA++++ service and product. Thanks, will definitely use again as the need arises.
Saw on e trailer read some of the reviews thought it was a wise purchase. I was wondering how to keep my hitch safe. They work perfect just as they should. Great ideal from whom ever thought of this. I would recommend this product to anyone that has a 5th wheel hitch.
the narrow part of the hole for the pin to move into wasn't quite large enough for the pin to go all the way. used a dremel tool with a grinder bit to remove a small amount of metal that would allow the pin to get fully into the small area. did all four and then put all of them on the hitch. work fine. somebody will have to get all four locks off if they want to steal the hitch.
I placed my first order with Etrailer and could not be happier. The shipping was fast and the support was great.
The pull pin locks were exactly what I was looking for. Great product that has made me feel much better about leaving my expensive fifth wheel hitch in my truck.
Simply and effective product. Could probably use just one. 2 used diagonal would probably be better with keyed alike padlocks. Good piece of mind that your hitch will be there when you get back to your truck!
I have ordered 7 times from e-trailer. The prices can't be beat, the customer service is awesome, On one order the hitch was damaged by the carrier and e-trailer was on it, recieved a replacement very quickly. E-trailer is my one source for anything that is trailers or towing. Thier huge selection of everything, order/shipping updates every step of the way and plentiful manuals on most everything they sell has me comming back when I need something.
Great idea and product as a thrifty alternative to expensive pin type locks or where room is an issue like under 5th wheel slider rails or on removable 5th wheel heads.
Simple design but it works. Fair price for product and shipping. My first experience with etrailer. I will order again in the future.
