I had previously purchased a different pole tongue adapter that did not work. This one has worked perfectly with my weight distribution hitch. It is well built and heavy and my boat tows better than ever. I could not be happier.

After a year of use there have been no issues, it still works great.

@Leslie We're happy to hear that!

Became an excellent solution for two trailers that I had that were configured with a pole tongue style frame. Pleased with how this system has worked with my trailers and weight distribution hitch thus far. Only thing I noticed was the spacing of the holes where the bracket clamps to the tongue. My tongue dimensions did not give me a tight fit using the pre drilled holes in the brackets but a rather sizable gap between the bolts and the tongue. This was easily remedied by adding a spacer to make up the difference.

Stacey was very helpful in assisting me with piecing together weight distribution system. The pole tongue adapter by Reese is well built and will certainly provide the requirement needed to distribute weight. Buy with confidence!

by:

So far so good. Had a shop install this add-on bracket for my boat trailer and it allowed me to install the appropriate wd hitch for my surge brake setup and pole tongue.

Worked W.

I really appreciate the follow up. The hitch setup has been working out really well. I am glad I went with the product and your company. Would not hesitate to do it again.

This pole tongue adapter arrived with two 6-inch connecting bolts that secure the four mounts under the trailer tongue. Sadly, only the outside 1.5 inches of the hex bolts were threaded, which would be great if my trailer tongue was 4 inches wide. Mine is 3 inches wide (a standard width for heavy boat trailers), so I ran out of thread before the part was secured. So I could either get a whole bunch of flat washers (Grade 5), or try to get 5 inch hex bolts. I called Reese, they are shipping me 6-inch fully threaded bolts. Not sure if that is the strongest set-up; I ended up ordering 5 inch partially threaded bolts from Grainger. Grade 5 hex bolts are NOT at [average retail stores]. So a PIT[Y] but not a deal killer.

Works like a charm. I have a heavy boat / trailer with a straight (not a “v”) tongue and needed a way to hook up a distor hitch. This

by:

Product took 3 days to arrive-nice! Fit and finish is fantastic. I would install it now, however it is -3 out and -20 with the wind chill. Nice work etrailer! This is my second order with you and I will be back

by:

if you have a heavy pole-tongue trailer, this adapter helps with safety
by letting you use a weight distribution system.

  • Pole Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Installed on Luxe-Ryder Trailer
The only way you'd be able to install and use the Reese Pole Tongue Adapter part # RP58393 would be if you cut off the round tube and attached this to the square tube underneath. It needs the square edges to attach properly.

  • What Causes Intense Trailer Sway at a Certain Speed
The type of sway you are describing is not going to be fixed by a weight distribution system. You either do not have enough tongue weight forward in the trailer, your suspension is worn out, or your trailer isn't sitting level. Weight distribution systems will help with sway induced by large gusts of wind or passing semi-trucks but not persistent sway that start when getting up to a certain speed. Also nearly all aluminum trailers aren't rated for weight distribution per the manufacturer...

  • Pole Tongue Adapter for Boat Trailer so that Weight Distribution Can Be Used
The adapter that you would need would be the pole tongue adapter part # RP58393 to be able to use a weight distribution system with your setup. Since your vehicle requires the use of a WD system to tow a trailer as heavy as yours the only option I can make for you would be to relocate the items on your trailer frame that are currently in the way as they do not make longer spring bar weight distribution systems. They are all right at 30 inches in length.

  • Pole Tongue Adapter For Use with a Weight Distribtuion Hitch on a Swing Tongue Boat Trailer
It is not a good idea to use weight distribution with a folding tongue due to the amount of force applied by the spring bars to the trailer. The pole tongue adapter like the Reese item # RP58393 has a note on the product page saying not to use weight distribution systems with swing arms.

The Pole Tongue Adapter part # RP58393 that you referenced will be needed since boat trailers have pole tongues. • Can Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System Be Used on a Boat Trailer
It sure will, but in order to use a Reese Steadi-Flex weight distribution system like the # RP66561 you'd looked at on a boat trailer, you'd need to use a Reese pole tongue adapter, part # RP58393. However, this does not apply on trailers with hinged, swing away trailer tongues. Using weight distribution isn't recommended on trailers such as that. • Using a Weight Distribution System on a Boat Trailer With Surge Brakes
I contacted Venture Trailers Inc. and found that the reason they do not recommend the use of a weight distribution system is because most weight distribution systems are not recommended for trailers with surge brakes because they do not allow the coupler to push into the coupler housing and engaging the brakes. Also due to the fact that they do apply additional stress on the tongue of the trailer like you said and this can be particularly harmful to aluminum frame trailers. There are...

Your trailer loaded is at 7,200 lbs which means the tongue weight will be between 700 and 1,000 lbs.
