The Rhino-Rack ski and fishing rod carrier comes with a lock on each unit, offering you peace of mind when you are hanging at the lodge after a long day on the slopes or out on the lake in your boat.
The carrier operates with a large push button on the side of the unit. This design allows for easy loading and unloading of skis, a snowboard, or fishing rods, even if you're wearing fingerless mittens or big, bulky winter gloves.
The ski and fishing rod carrier mounts in the top channel of your Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero or Heavy-Duty crossbars with T-bolts. It also comes with universal clamp-on mounting hardware that lets you use the carrier on round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars right out of the box.
A riser kit (S550 - sold separately) is available to accommodate your skis or snowboards with tall bindings. The risers mount to the spacer nuts on the bottom of your rack and attach to your crossbars with a special fit kit (WR09 - sold separately). These kits add 1-3/8 inches of additional clearance between the bottom of the carrier and your vehicle's roof. If you have Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty crossbars, you will need to use fit kit WR02 instead of WR09.
This carrier protects your gear with soft rubber molding inside the hinged arms of the carrier. The molding gently cradles your skis, snowboard, or fishing rods and won't damage paint or cause abrasions.

The carrier includes universal mounting hardware, soft rubber padding to protect your gear, and locks that help deter theft.The Rhino Rack was easy to put up on a 2018 Subaru Outback. Took me about 10 minutes. The only issue is that the rack bottom bracket piece is is convex with an acute angle which makes it not fit perfectly on the Subaru crossbar that has a flat bottom.
Loaded 2 pairs of skis and poles and the rack kept them securely fastened during transport on the highway. There was some noise from the rack during highway driving but it was minimal.
Bertil - 02/22/2022Great racks, got for snowboards. Super easy to slide into my Thule Evo crossbars. Built in lock in each one is a nice feature. Come well packaged with pretty fast delivery.
Easy to install on the Thule Aero bars, stays solid on the rack and no wind noise when driving.
Seem like a good product for the price. Just unsure of all the plastic. Will see after a year. Not liking the plastic on plastic clam shell mount

Great experience. Rack and bars were as described. It fits great on my Corolla and the instructions were very easy to follow. Super easy to use and havechad zero issues with it since I installed. I love how much more room I have in my car when I go up to ski with them in the rack instead of the trunk with the backseat folded down. Highly recommend!

I would not consider it 5 stars as its missing a few considerations for something you will be using in the cold (which IMO should be as easy to use as possible):
* locks are a bit finicky, in fact one of the two racks refused to lock when any pressure was on the top bar (meaning anytime it has skis or boards in). I actually had to have to the top arm up, insert the key and slightly turn it, then close the arm in order to be able to lock it.
* the latch mechanism must be perfectly aligned to close and that is difficult to do in the cold with gloves on if you are not directly in front of each component. So if your car is like mine you have to close one latch (which requires standing on the inside of the vehicle with the door open to reach it), then get down open the rear door and repeat. If the mechanism was designed with some sort of self aligning guide the extra steps would not be necessary as you could reach over and close the second one without moving.
Just received my snow ski/fishing rod carrier today (Saturday). Quick shipping and service from etrailer and packaging was great. I had one problem with the carrier right from the start. Each one of the holders use what appears to be a different keys to lock them, which is required to secure your items. Only one of my pair had keys and they were numbered 093 (keys and lock). The other carrier did not have a set of keys and it was numbered 125 on the lock. The 093 will not work in the 125. I called etrailer and they took my complaint and will contact the manufator on Monday since they are closed on the weekend. Customer service believes that Rhino just didn't package the keys for the one and probably will ship me the keys. Cannot use them until I get the key and I would think Rhino would have the same key for both or pairs, maybe they put the wrong pair in the box. Besides the key issue the racks look good and fit on my SG60 Rhino Roof rack for my 2017, 2 door hard top Jeep JK fine. Held my fishing rods (7 foot one piece) which are hard to get inside of the 2 door and can open the rear hatch without contacting the rod tips. I placed the reels on the front and tips facing back, reels fit in between the two carriers. Once I get the keys I will try them out on the road to see how they hold. They do sit high so be aware of clearance, but I can drive in my garage with them on. If I get the key and they work on the road I would probably give them a 5 star, I do not keep the roof rack on all the time just when I have to transport my rods for fishing.
This is a Christmas gift..so haven’t used it yet.

This rack has been great on my Subaru! Easy to install and easy to move ski racks off so I can use the bars in the summer for our paddle boards!

Great design, easy to install and use. Paired with rhino tack folding kayak rack they both fit nicely together on the racks.
Unfortunately strap did not come with my order but when I contacted etrailer they made sure the straps were sent out right away.

Great product that integrates directly with the roof rack set that came with my Audi Q5. Installed in literally minutes with only the Allen wrench that was provided. I chose to mount it without the adapter brackets that wrap around the roof racks and use the tee bolts mounting the ski carrier directly into the racks. Price was 1/3 the OEM racks. They work great and hold 4 pairs of skis as advertised. . Easy in and out with the skis too! Only other comment is check your parts received vs. parts list for completeness. I highly recommend these. Great product, great value.
After 1 full ski season of use, these have held up great. Easy on and off the base rack. Good for 2 sets of skis. Just put 'em back on for this year. Minus a star for the latches being a bit finicky at times.

Does everything well except hold “4 skis”....unless they meant 2 pairs (or your alpine skis were made before 1990). The rack barely fits 3 pairs of modern skis due to both width and height (clamping angle) constraints.
I Received the package on time and immediately opened it. Since were going skiing the next day, I installed the Ski Rack on our 2019 Subaru Outback which took me about 30 minutes to install it including putting two pairs of skis and poles so Far I am really pleased. I think that it is a excellent ski rack for the price.
