Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we have the Rhino-Rack roof rack for raised rails right here on our 2023 Kia Telluride. What we have here is the 54-inch long crossbars, and this is a recommended length for your Telluride. The 54-inch bars have a 2 1/2 inch overhang. That's measured from your tower to the end of your crossbar. In fact, the reason we have this overhang here was to install an awning.
So there are T-tracks in here that the Rhino-Rack awning installed into. So you take out these vortex strips, you put your accessory through, and then you cut the strips to fit around your accessory. These are Vortex aero bars, which means that they're designed to be more aerodynamic, especially compared to the older round and square crossbars. Those we're super noisy, especially at highway speeds. This has less wind drag and less wind noise.
So these bars are made of aluminum keeping them lightweight, but also really strong. You do have a weight capacity of 165 pounds. Compared to your more affordable aluminum bars, these have a good support structure on the inside, so that way they do not bow in the middle when you have heavy items on them. Everything used to install this roof rack is included with this kit. That's why it's very important to put your year make model in our case, 2023 Kia Telluride, so you can find the right kit and bar length for you.
What's not included though and I recommend grabbing is a tape measure just to make sure everything is lined up. Let's take a look at that install process. So we're gonna install this roof rack and it's gonna be a very simple process, but if you have not already installed your weather strips definitely push those in now. And then we are going to start with the end caps off. Now get your towers, and your towers fit into the crossbar just like that.
We're gonna open up the clamps on the towers. Do that for both sides. Now you're ready to put the crossbar onto the roof. Just be careful, make sure that you hold it level so that the towers don't fall right back off. You're going to adjust this pretty much anywhere you want. So front, back, and try to get that centered with an equal length on each side. For your crossbar spread, you actually have a really good range here. So what we're gonna do is center to center, we're gonna go about 26 inches. That's on the lower end, but pretty average for most accessories. You can move this further up or further back if you want more hash access or not. Tighten down the tower with be included tool. So keep going on both sides. Now your tool is a torque tool actually, so if you put your pressure at the end of the handle you'll see it flatten out once you get to the proper torque setting, and that will help prevent you from over tightening this bolt. If you have the Rhino-Rack metal lock cores, this is the time to switch it out. I usually just use the plastic lock cores since it still holds things tight, and you have your own special security key for them. Once all four towers are tightened down, just double check them to make sure that they are secure. Then you're gonna put the end caps on and lock them down with your appropriate keys just like that. And that's it for the install, super fast, super simple, super easy. And that was a look at our Rhino-Rack roof rack with the 54-inch long Vortex aero crossbars and the feet for your raised rails of your 2023 Kia Telluride.

Package, both items appeared used, but in good condition. The legs were not in the factory box, but just a eTrailer box. The instructions were hard to follow, even with a little help from YouTube. Just about to test drive to check the noise level. Time will tell, there is soft rubber on the legs and it may be wise to remove these when not in use, especially during Florida summers.

Rhino rack products are superior and I prefer them over Yakima or Thule.
However, I would like eTrailer to know, and to warn other customers that over the years the items I order from them always come with cosmetic damage or missing parts due to insufficient packaging.
In this case, my Vortex bars were shipped in the retail box which had opened in transit so two of the end caps escaped and are who knows where. Under a conveyor belt line in some UPS building or in one of their trucks somewhere.
This is not an issue as these end caps I intended to dispose of replacing them with the locking end caps I ordered with my bars and towers.
etrailer, I do not need resolution for this issue but your track record with packaging and shipping is sub par. Please step up your game so your customers receive complete orders.

I haven’t installed rack yet and everything appears to be in order.
* I wasn’t anticipating that Rhino -Rack Sports Ladder Peg (s602) be made of plastic.
Does it have the strength, durability to perform well and not get brittle in colder temps?

Using Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, Using Rhino Kayak holders. Also use a Rhino bicycle rear receiver mount. Love Rhino products.....strong, well engineered, low noise, and every part is quality... mounts, straps, etc. Photo is departure picture from last years trip to Big Bend, Texas. We probably put a couple thousand miles on these pieces of Rhino equipment on all types of roads at both Big Bend Park and Big Bend State Park... You really cannot go wrong buying Rhino products. Everything they make is well designed and will not disappoint.

I purchased the Rhino legs, cross bars and J-style kaya carriers together and could not be more pleased with the combination. The system was installed in an evening and used the next day. The legs were very simple to install on the cross bars and then mount on the vehicle.

The bars will be used with a roof tent (also from etrailer).
Climbing trip to Idaho in a few weeks.
We shall see how well this all works!
Interestingly, the upper side of one internal bar is white with my black set.
Maybe it was missed in the painting process.

Its been one year since I installed the Rhino Rack crossbars and I have absolutely no issues. The main use is to carry my Kayaks on my 2013 Subaru Impreza utilizing Yakima JayLow kayak carriers. The only caveat is to be sure to properly cut and install the plastic channel inserts (underside) or you will experience an annoying whistling sound. If you're looking for high quality crossbars, I highly recommend these.

I spent a week reading reviews and forums to find the right one for my 2019 Jeep Cherokee that I just bought a few weeks ago. I just have to overthink everything but it paid off. I just received them this morning and installed them myself! First time for everything! It was really easy. The only part that was frustrating was the very first part... sliding the rubber pieces into the crossbars. They would not slide very well so I ended up using a bit of oil to make them slide better. Other than that, installation was easy and quick. I LOVE the looks of them. Very gorgeous!!! Thank you so much!! Very happy with the end result!!

Unfortunately, the vortex aero crossbars whistled very loudly on my 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. In addition, I found it difficult to center the crossbars with the SX series legs. And, finally, these legs would not stay tight for more than a day or so.

Fits my 22 Subaru Outback Wilderness awesome! Great low profile and minimalist design. My only dislike is the bright white Rhino Rack logo on each foot. Sorry Rhino, your name/logo needs way more graphic design; the white silk screen was able to come off with acetone and elbow grease, but I wish the whole rack setup was fully blacked-out from the factory without bright decals or logos. One of the cross bar boxes arrived open/damaged, but contents were fine. Great rack tho!

I would have given 5 stars except that upon delivery the boxes with the cross bars in them both had open ends and the bars were sliding out. Also the box containing the leg supports had a huge hole punched in the top. So I had to quickly do an inventory to make sure all the bits and pieces were still present and to check for any damage. Fortunately all was good, but I honestly don’t know how. I was lucky. Your shipping department needs a do better slip in the way they package things together. Otherwise great price, and Rhino-Rack I already knew was a highly rated product.

These legs with the Rhino-rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - 59" - Black - Qty 2 are a perfect fit for our Subaru Outback Wilderness with good overhang for a kayak loader. Check out the eTrailer video showing the install on a Wilderness. The info on their site is first class and a good reason to buy from them.

I really like how the racks are holding up. I kept them on the Jeep, but it is garage kept. I like them much better than my Thule racks. I havent put a kayak up there yet.
