Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.


Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.


To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.


If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

I ordered leaf springs and associated attachment hardware. I was quite amazed at how quickly the order was delivered even though the box weighed close to a hundred pounds. I would have given these the highest rating because the product is excellent. The reason for just an average rating is solely because of the customer service or rather lack of customer service. I placed the order for this and 2 additional items to replace the entire suspension on a Passport 3350BH. All items were in stock when order was placed on 1/31/2022 with a delivery date of 02/03/2022. There was a snow storm on 02-03 which delayed the item to the following week which is understandable. However it continued to be delayed until the following week. After my first call I was told the storm had caused a delay. I asked why my order was in a gathering stage for days and then changed to back to order accepted, only response was the snow had slowed them down. After another week of no order, I sent 2 emails with just a standard response of blaming a snow storm 2 weeks prior. I asked several questions on my order which were never answered, I’d have to assume that they just didn’t care to answer or it’s a general email they send to everyone. Long story short the order came on 02/19 which is completely unexceptionable based on a 3 day original ship date. Hard to explain to a customer that a snow storm that we had as well pushed the ship date out 16 days on in stock items.

Old springs rusted out and were cracked. New mounts were welded up and springs installed. They work great. Probably a little to heavy for my specific application.

I actually ordered these for 65 Coronet Altered Wheelbase car for the front end using an A-100 straight axle.
The short 13" dimension from the center bolt to the spring eye makes this perfect for my application.
Mixing trailer with car spring attachments was a challenge but doable.
Enclosed are pictures of how it was mocked up with a relocation of 12" forward from stock.
I wasn't able to use the U bolts as they were a different dimension and diameter than the existing A-100 axle.
Using the front bolts with the Zerk fitting will be an added advantage being greasable.

Prompt shipment and arrival. It was a few days before I installed one. The old ones which are probably original equipment ( it's a 1975 trailer) were a real pain to get off, but the new one was a perfect fit. I did the right side since it was broken, then took the trailer out and it worked fine. I am still getting the left side off, but I'm sure that the new one will be fine.

    The wheel studs shearing off normally is caused by over tightening the lugs or your wheels have elongated holes which allow the wheel to have excess movement while traveling.
