Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance
This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.
The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Provider ST 235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a load range E, mounted on this 16 inch white modular steel wheel with the 8 on 6 and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel they use on this as a nice steel wheel has the modular design. And when I say the modular design, what that design has is the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. This wheel is sturdy and rust resistant.
It does go through a 3-step finishing process, which will first include a zinc phosphate bath, an e-coat primer, and then a nice white powder coat on the outside of the wheel. And you can see if I turn it around to the backside or the inside, it is lightly e-coated to reduce friction and provide rust resistance. Now, this wheel does use the ITR technology, which stands for Improved Torque Retention. It is designed to help keep your wheel securely in place on your trailer. And I want to zoom in and show you the way they do that is your stud holes right here that go all the way around.
They are uncoated, and then they are also beveled to give you a better clamp force retention. When you're tightening your lug nuts down to the trailer, to hold your wheel in place. Now the tire that's on this is a Radial Tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for nice, long life. It is great for highway use and they do also use a nice nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation.
And the tire itself is bake tested to ensure that the rubber holds up over time. This tire does use, is a ST tire design, which stands for Special Trailer tire design. It'll couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. This tire wheel assembly does come with a 2-year platinum plus warranty, which will include an emergency tire change service and other benefits.
And the assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it will exceed your Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Few specs, a few specs on this. We'll start with the wheel. The diameter on the wheel is 16 inches. The width on just the wheel is 6 inches wide. This wheel does have a bolt pattern of 8 on 6 and a half inches. And if you want to measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs. In this case of 8 lugs, it's pretty simple because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So it makes it easy to measure. So when you go to measure, just pick any lug hole, let's say this one and measure from the center of this lug hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. So on this one, it'll measure 6 and a half inches. So it's an 8 lug 6 and a half inch bolt pattern. The wheel does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18, and the weight capacity or wheel, or the weight capacity on this wheel, is there just the wheel only is 3,750 pounds. And the pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of this opening is 5.12 inches. Now the tire size itself is stamped on the tire, right here, ST for Special Trailer, 235/80R16, the R stands for radial tire. Section width on this is 9.3 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the very top when it's inflated is 30.8 inches. And this tire is a load range E which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And the last thing I do want to show you, most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them now. And the speed rating is designated by a letter designation and where that is on the tire, Excuse me, right after the tire size, you'll see the 2 numbers for the load index. And then the letter M, speed rating M will mean it has an 81 mile per hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on the Provider ST 235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a load range E, mounted on this 16 inch white modular steel wheel with the 8 on 6 and a half inch bolt pattern..
